Really happy about this. The armor just doesn't scale well.

I don't think you can at the moment? Unless of course you give items you wanna transfer to a friend or leave them in a chest in a server then switch characters...etc

Yea I had no idea what the thing did so ended up having to do corpse runs to get all my stuff and run off to another planet.

so I found a "schematic" or blueprint or whatever it was a blue square icon, I used it and it said I learned the schematic. Where can I craft it? I checked all the crafting options
Pretty sure it's for your 3D printer on your ship.

Beat the UFO with the leather armor that will be nerfed today when the patch is out 
Have a full set of Tier 1 Iron Avian armor though. Even though I have access to the beta sector, it's probably still too hard for me. Will likely just try and dig down and explore various planets for more resources. One chest had 5 platinum bars, but I don't seem to be able to do anything with them at the moment.
Also acquired the dash tech, but you don't seem to be able to have more than one active at a time. Tech is missing all tooltips in-game explaining what it does as well. Besides other gaps in crafting - the 3D printer just ate a second chef summoning machine without giving me a schematic.
I'm sure these things will be fixed though. As polished as it seems, the game is still very rough in parts with the crafting not being fully fleshed out and the balance of everything a little wonky - will probably seesaw back and forth until a sweet spot is found.

I've found a few of them and each one was furniture that appeared at the bottom of my crafting table recipe list, only thing I can suggest is checking every crafting object (table, loom, anvil etc) you have.

So wait, your UFO persisted after calling it in with the distress beacon and dying? I was running a set of copper armor when I called it in, was checking behind some menu immediately after activating it, and then I got smited by a random penguin before I could even see the mothership. I respawn and head back over to where i summoned it and everything was business as usual again, no UFO in sight and nothing in my quest log to point me in to any other objective.

The thing likes to fly up way outta reach where you think it's gone. Me and some friends summoned it... it disappeared for quite awhile... then suddenly it was back.

Thanks for the clarification, I'm just glad I don't have to gather the resources to summon another one.
bought them from an airship, they have no armor penetration though despite the high damage numbers so they basically suck ass. Youre better off crafting an iron bow. It can at least one-shot most of the lvl 1-4 monsters on a full charge

Question about the distress beacon -
It got swiftly destroyed when I summoned the UFO, do I have to recraft it each time I fail the UFO boss, or is there a way to activate and keep it protected? I guess im asking if it is a one time use consumable? At least it was cheaper the second time, but dat silver!
Oh yours is probably gone now. I'm just saying i doubt it was gone right when you came back from death.
Is there anyway to delete yet? My entire list so far is "test 1, test 2, etc..."

Go to the Starbound folder, go into Player, and delete the .metadata, .player, and .shipworld for the character you want to delete. You can go by date last modified to find the ones you want/don't want to delete, or you can open up the .player with a text editor and find the character name.
If you lose it, or want to go there, the world everyone seems to start on in the server is ...

I found a huge avian temple right in the middle of my starting planet. It has an entrance shaped like a giant hawk head, like the one you see in one of the trailers. It was pretty huge, andhad lots of Egyptian-themed avian stuff. It also had saw traps that insta-kill you, but you can pick up even those.
I don't have a clue how common/rare these are, but I got easily 60+ item types I hadn't seen yet, including a bunch of brick types and all kinds of cool sarcophagi. Should I drop it all on the GAF server (tomorrow) so that Retro or anyone who wants it can use it to make a museum or whatever? Or is this stuff pretty common?
It's crazy deep that you finally find lava. Like, perhaps a hundred screens?
In any case, you can get back up to your ship by simply save-and-quitting and loading. If you have a load of pixels it beats losing 20-30% of them.
