First time poster here, but I have been reading the Vita GAF thread for about a year now. I purchased one because of this thread and everyone's enthusiasm for the device.
The Vita is my first portable gaming device that I've ever owned and I'm really enjoying it so far. For years I've always told myself that handheld gaming devices are pointless, that they offer substandard games on crappy hardware and tiny screens.
The Vita was the device I was waiting for. Don't ask why, but a decent screen resolution and DUAL analog inputs are so important to me. I've never once considered a 3DS due to the crappy resolution and only one circle pad. I refused to buy a PSP due to only one nub, a crappy nub at at that.
Anyway, now that I've got a Vita, I can see why people like them. There is something intimate about playing a game that is specifically designed to be played on a portable console. The screen is close to your face, thus blocking out a lot of distractions (for me at least) and it kind of creates this sense that it's just you and the game world; it really sucks you in.
I don't have a lot of money but here's my little Vita library so far... I purchased these games based on GAF's recommendation largely.

Those are the only physical games I have currently. Oddly enough, I have not played much of any of them yet, haha. The first thing I bought was P4G, but I've barely played it. I take a very, very long to complete games and I spent a heck of a lot of time on Gravity Rush (PS+, GAF's wisdom). I really, really loved that game.
On a technical level, it runs at sub-native res., much of the open world was very bland and had nothing to do in it, the combat could be insanely repetitive and frustrating, the story was pretty cliche, but gosh darn, GR has so much
charm! I just love that gravity shifting mechanic and am very excited for the sequel.
I don't really listen to music very much, but the music in video games has always been a huge factor for me in enjoying the game, and I love GR's OST! The fun, charm and music just really came together for me. It also probably helps that it was the first portable game I've ever experienced.
I'm playing KZ:M right now, on mission 6 of the single player. I plan to finish up all of the SP contracts then try out the multiplayer. I just got access to secure N wifi about a week ago, and boy, it's so neat being able to access the internet, PSN, download patches without a CAT cable hooked up to something.
My old router had WPS that couldn't really be shut off, so, someone with Reaver could get in easy. As a result, I was never able to turn on the wifi. With my new router, and Tomato, I can shut WPS off for good, so now I can enjoy online functionality on my Vita. It's really great. For instance, today I downloaded a patch for KZ:M over wifi! Damn that was neat.
I think it's a shame that KZ:M is not given more credit for it's technical achievements. It's a very stunning game. Maybe someone could play some KZ:M online with me sometime? I'm not a good player but I'm good company! PSN ID is Marion_Walters43.
Once I finish up KZ:M I'm going to play Ys: Memories of Celceta. I've never played a Ys game before but I'm eager to try this one.
I plan to stick to mostly physical carts versus digital. Like I said, I've never owned a handheld gaming device before, and the last carts I ever used were on the SNES. For some reason, I freaking love these carts. I really enjoy owning the boxes, the carts, and most of all, that satisfying feeling of putting the carts into the Vita. Shame that manuals died out...
I'm disappointed though that the carts, as far as I am aware, are limited to 4gigs. I hope they up them to 8gigs in the future, I believe this will limit game quality. The 3ds has 8gigs one I believe, the Vita should too!
I do have a 32gb memory card, as well as an 8gb one that just sits around. I would import a 64gb one but I don't qualify for a credit card. The digital games that I've bought are Alundra, Ultimate Ghosts N' Goblins, Spelunky, Super Stardust Delta, FF6, Chrono Trigger (I can put up with the load times!), and Castlevania SOTN. Of course, all the PS+ stuff too.
I plan to get a physical copy of Tearaway once I've beaten some of these games. I hope Sony pushes for more games exclusive to the Vita. Not SCEA of course though, they suck. I called them up the other night to ask a question about the Vita and they told me they never heard of it! Kidding.
Anyway, sorry this post is so long, it's just that I finally got approval to post in this thread and I've wanted to just say a big thank you to everyone who posts in this thread for a long time. You guys and gals have made me really enjoy the Vita.
Thanks!
