Had 3 orders with them this year, the last one being Dragon's Crown on Vita and PS3 in one package both with preorder artbooks so was quite a big weighty package and they still marked down the value to get in under customs.

I spoke to a UPS guy a earlier this year and he said that stuff going through the postal service at either end (ie Royal Mail) very really get flagged unless it's a big item but pretty much any courier end consignment will get checked out. UPS even includes clearance fees as part of their service as they know I their stuff will get looked at. GameStop for examples did me over with my US copy of The Last of Us and ended up costing me £35 in taxes as well as the $100 I had paid them for inclusive cleared shipping.

Media such as games, DVDs, blurays don't carry any import tax (classed as category 9) but anything over the value of £50 is subject to be checked (sometimes as low as £15) and then everything is due 20% import VAT if it gets picked up.
Yeah same thing happened to me the one time I ordered from GameStop in the US. The worst part? The pre-order item I ordered from them for wasn't even included because they messed up my order.

I don't mind being charged customs if they didn't charge the ludicrous fees for paying them. Most of the time the fee's are more than the VAT itself. Like before I've had £5 VAT and £12 Fee. >.>

Yeah it's a bit bizarre that everyone has their own interpretation as to how much customs clearance costs. I mean at the end of the day HMRC only charge the same amount. Where as Royal Mail clearly state it's a flat £9 every courier company under the sun has their own slant on this. Going to be fun under privatisation I bet.

Is there a decent deal on a 2/3DS + Pokemon anywhere? I know there was a bundle for £100 at Sainsburys, but that sold out pretty sharpish, and doesn't seem to be for sale anywhere else? :S

NTSC/PAL labels bear no meaning for portable games, those two are video standards. You should just refer to them as EU/US/UK/etc versions.

The NTSC/PAL division bears no meaning for portable gaming, sure, but it does hold a clear regional division as to where the game will actually work (on local systems).

EU/US/UK/etc does not as EU and UK are in the same region. UK is part of the EU actually even though they don't always want to be. ;-)

Just to add for the new page. GAME have Rayman Legends fro £17.99 on PS3, 360, Vita and WiiU. Ridiculously charming in every way and well worth picking up for either yourself or a perfect present (I say that as it's sucked 4 hours of my afternoon away and loving every second of it).

Even more so that the UK have moved to using (arguably backward) PEGI legally for ratings now. Outside of Germany and Australia I can't think of anymore ratings boards for the "PAL Region".

not strictly deal related but was in GAME earlier and their Xbone kiosk was faulty. I asked why and they said it needed to be always online to work. no idea when it is getting fixed either. strange given the store has a BT WiFi access point available.

It's it? I assume there's also another -10% for ps+ as well? Tempted to double dip but knowing my luck it will so up as. Plus "freebie". Cheers for the heads up though.

That's a great deal, in theory, but I'm struggling to pick two games I want from it let alone three.

Did anyone else who received the Vita bundle instead of Tearaway from Zavvi or Thehut get a letter threatening "to enforce any and/or all legal remedies available to us"? I only quote this because they wrote "Strictly Private and Confidential, Not for Publication" in bold font on the letter. I just e-mailed them I want my Tearaway first, then I'll return the Vita.

Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure
Resident Evil: Revelations
Heroes of Ruin

...are my choices. Not a huge Resi fan, but will give it a go. Happy to get into the other two.

They're going to start a law suit over a £19.99 device? Wow.

Surely actually going through with that would cost them more money than they would save by gaining said bundles back, lol?

I went with Star Fox where you have Rhythm Thief. I just got my 3DS from the Black Friday Lightning Deal so still not many games and for whatever reason I've had a craving for Star Fox.

Also it just occured to me it's not "Lylat Wars 3D" and now I'm having second thoughts.

Still have not received my order or this new fantastic nasty email!

Got the original "We made a huge mistake" though.

Zavvi are hilarious

Lol. I would of thought a big company like that would just take it on the chin, and move on. Hardly seems worth the hassle, or the cost if they're being serious to get it back.

Heheh and the irony with your avatar as well.

All I get from these days is the regular "We're sorry about your order" update about Watch_Dogs not making it's release date and the are looking into it. For the sake of saving a fiver I might just cancel it and reorder with amazon to save on the spam emails.

In regards to the 3 for £20, you can do multiples of one game by editing the amounts in your basket. Worthwhile if you are gift shopping

People will love you if you give them Rhythm Thief for Christmas.

a quick review for games i own

  • Star Fox 64 3D

Remake of the N64 game. If you never played the original its a great game. if you played and own the n64 version there is little reason to get this (although it did get a face lift).
  • Resident Evil: Revelations

One of the best looking 3DS games and the best REgame since RE4 bar none (RE5 and 6 are not even close imho).
  • Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition

its a good port but it might be considered a bit dated as we know have the arcade edition and soon ultimate.
  • Dead or Alive: Dimensions

its kind of a best of DoA 1-4 type of deal. It works pretty well and has a large cast of characters. If you like DoA its a good game.
  • Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate

meh... avoid if you like any Castlevania on DS or GBA.
  • Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D
kind of a throwaway if you own revelations.

good point.

Those who've used Amazon UK, do you think I have a leg to stand on here?

I bought the Marshall Mathers LP 2 CD for a Christmas present. I intended to buy the Deluxe Edition. I searched for it on Amazon - Direct link to the search.

Now, if you look at the second listing there, it says it's the DX Edition. That's for the digital copy, and I wanted the CD. So just below that, it says "Audio CD". Naturally, I clicked it and it adds it straight to your basket. Now, call me the fool for not completely checking that what they added to my basket was what I wanted - I expected it to be the CD version of the DX Edition. I bought it and thought that's what I'd ordered... until it arrived.

I received the standard edition. Obviously, checking my order history, turns out it was indeed the standard edition I ordered.

Can I complain about this, since they are linking to the standard CD edition under the DX digital edition in the search lists? I'm angry at myself for not checking it before going through with it, but the fact it went straight into my basket, I just assumed they'd done it correctly.

What would be the situation if I complained? Do I get a refund on my postage if I have to send it back to replace it for the DX edition? I take it they're not likely to just tell me to keep it and send me a DX edition?

No harm in talking to support, if they offer a free return then take it. I think to be safe you're probably going to want to order a second copy that you wanted, and then return the unwanted edition yourself because processing a refund this time of year could get messy.

Amazon are usually great with this kinda stuff. Just contact them, and they will usually be helpful even if it was your mistake to begin with. You will probably have to send it back though in this case

I received a broke Limited Edition game from them once.I sent a photo, and they saw I was from Ireland so they told to keep it and they would mail out a new one as it would be too expensive to send mine back.

They can be surprisingly helpful at times - unlike some others places.

I've waited for Rhythm Thief to be a good price for a while, getting it and Resident Evil: Revelations and Tetris for £20 is pretty nice.

They can also be a bit useless at times though just due to the support being no where near any of the warehouses. A lot of issues with the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing and so on.

I had to go through their support when they sent out the wrong edition of NFS Rivals for PS4(They sent the standard edition instead of the limited edition, happened with BF4 too apparently though I didn't buy that personally). Spoke to 4 or 5 different people and none of them really knew what was going on. I did finally get a random code for the DLC which was inside the limited edition after about 5 or 6 days, apparently BF4 guys weren't so lucky though. Good couple of those are still waiting for a code, and no word of the other thing which was apparently meant to be included in the preorder.

Guess that's what happens when you out source your support service to India(I assume it's there judging from the names of the support people).

That said, a free return should be simple enough.
