No Man's Sky announced - Hello Games (VGX)

Pretty much everything described is what I always wanted out of a video game. Hope it can reach the ambition.

This better be Xbox One. Looks stunning. Four people made this? If I multiplied myself four times I might manage to tie my own shoes, let alone make something this ambitious. Kudos to those involved, hope they can pull it off

If we take the trend of other space exploration games into consideration, we can probably expect this some time in 2018 and it probably be a broken mess at launch.

Console games fans board IRC channel :)

It is when there are conferences, reveals etc :)

I'm sure a huge sample of the console userbase use IRC (or even know what it is).

I'm sure that channel it's an accurate representation of the console user base and their interest on the game. Game's doomed.

So many port begs so soon after an announcement.

I missed the show, I've only seen the trailer: is this, or does it have the option for, single player, or is it more MMO?

It shows general audience that is not interested in this kind of game, which is true for consoles and much less so for PC.

Whats so wrong with what i said?

PC is the main platform for such a game, there is no question about it.

Its like releasing sport game only on PC. It doesnt mean, it wont sell at all, but it would be suicide compared to what it would on consoles, right?

This game looks great, I hope its either singleplayer or has the option to play in singleplayer with a dynamic universe, something like limit theory but with planet exploration.

Amazingly this seems to be game of the show based on my twitter feeds e.t.c

Even more amazing knowing it's done by 4 people.

I've always wanted earth - space transitions , something even destiny doesn't do.

Really? General audience? Are you for real? It's a freaking IRC channel.

PC is the main platform for such a game, there is no question about it.
And you base this on what exactly? We're not longer in 2001.

Is it because it's an MMO? There's more people playing DCUO on PS3 then PC for example, by a huge margin.
Is it because it's a shooter? There's more people playing any of the MP shooters on consoles then PC. (exception probably being CS GO considering how broken it is on consoles and it's PC legacy)
The SpaceSim genre is huge on PC at least, but it's still a far cry to saying something like that as a fact when you have no way of knowing. It's just ridiculous.

I need a 1 hour uncut gameplay demonstration of this game. It has ambition but if it's just vast amounts of generated space with nothing to do in it I'll be disappointed. But I loved Joe Danger so I hope this game won't fall into the Molyneux trap.

They are overreaching like hell. I'm gonna call it this game is not going to have 1/100 the content described. And I'm sorry but that guy really came off smug when he said that Sci Fi as it is in video games is just space marines. The trailer showed same ol shit we have already seen in games and of course talk.

It looks really really cool and the premise is fantastic but I'm really worried about exactly ho procedural it will be and how long the variety will last. If you can go to dozens and dozens of planets and still be surprised by new things, it'll be quite the achievement.

I was about to get really hyped but this is probably true.

I'll try and forget that I saw this. No need to do this to my self. It'll be like DayZ + Star Citizen combined. Hope I'm wrong.

Usually, I don't expect much from procedurally generated games as far as art style, but the art direction in this game is top notch.

Super excited to play.

Those examples are just glorious.

Its MMO based procedural generated space sim game. This is PC title at its finest like: Starbound, Elite, Star Citizen, Limit Theory, X series, 0x10c, Rodina, EVE etc

Name console games in this theme from last 10 years.

i was sold the moment they went from land to space. i was watching him fly into the clouds in anticipation, and it paid off

I'm really impressed in a way I haven't been by anything else in a long time. Just going off and exploring a vast galaxy sounds fucking incredible. I need this game.

Yeah.....those perceptions of what you think an "indie" game be? Fuck them.

This will be on a whole other level if these guys can pull this off, the trailer alone is god damn awesome. VGX turned out to be good for something atleast.

Really glad to see Hello Games have the chance to work on a project like this, definitely hoping it turns out to be as good as they're making it sound like. Kinda feel bad for them though, they could've thought up something half as impressive and demanding and still pull an excellent surprise.

Given that they seem to be on very good terms with Sony, i'm fairly sure it's ok to expect it to release on the PS4.

I know right? Almost as glorious as your anecdotal evidence from an IRC channel, an old fashion, pc exclusive text messaging protocol that peaked int he 90s, to judge the console user base.

Changing the subject doesn't make the DCUO name drop any less funny! Even you have to admit, deep down, that you had a tinge of hesitation or regret when typing that up. Admit it!

Silliness aside, while it's an ultimately pointless debate (at least for me since I really don't give a fuck about platform wars), I am a little surprised that someone would argue that an indie, procedural generation equipped space sim with MMO trappings isn't prime PC real estate. Where it actually ends up or how it preforms or executes is anyones guess, in the end, but that's my initial reaction, personally. Anyway, this post is probably just a waste, game looks great, Im moving on.

I swear to god if this is online only

We barely know what it is, if it's a game that makes a lot of sense to be based around a big, online community then I certainly wouldn't mind. I'm just happy that games like this from any angle are being made. I've got a wide variety of tastes, so I'll take whatever as long as it's good.

It was the only reference of an MMO that's both on PC and consoles that I could think of. And I'm not changing the subject, that WAS the subject.

The argument was more on how it would be suicide for the dev team if it was a console release only and using an IRC channel as evidence of it.

And the console user base aren't stranges to procedural generated exploration games. Minecraft use huge on 360 and Terraria debuted on the top of the charts only behind heavy hitters like Journey and Walking Dead, and stayed on the charts for like 6 months.

For the entire 3 hour "Video game" premiers, this is by far the best and nicest surprise.

And it's done by only 4 people...

Everything else - save "Joel/Banderas" meme was just utter garbage. Shouldn't have stayed up for this shit..
