Fighting Games Weekly | Dec 9-15 | Funding Nemo? Not yet...

Matchup and style. Tokido a lot times loses because he gets too cheeky when applying offense. All Chris needs is that one mistake.

I see your point.

I guess im going off that the four likely to get it are fuudo, xian, tokido, or chris g, and I just feel if chris g is on his game that day he could win, but again could be wrong. I would like haitani/sako to win but the odds are against them, unless haitani has some sick comebacks like during tgs

Man you are like a real life kakyoin. How kawaii

tbh, it feels like Chris G autopilots AE a lot. It might be because of the character but it never really feels like he's making an active role or really thinking about the match as he plays like other folks.

definitely can see that. Yea I don't really see or remember him ever deviating from sakura's set play in any kind of match

yeah chrisG's sakura is very...by the books. he knows all the fancy comboes but i hardly see him open anyone up through mindgames.

i wonder what he would do if sakura wasn't safe on so many of her moves. throw out random tatsus and confirms off that.

Good point. He's solid all around, almost never drops combos, and Sakura has some damaging combos. But he doesn't make amazing reads like Jwong, Rog and the Japanese gods make sometimes.

Probably move on to the next character. He previously main'd Yang when he was the stupid buff brother when he was first introduced right? He moved on to Sakura from there. His Yang play isn't terribly inspiring either.

At any rate, that's the reason I don't think he'll win CapCup in AE.

We're on totally different wavelengths because Sako is my pick to win. And I think Haitani's only real threat is Sako.

Has anyone checked on Aquasilk? Is he OK? I'm imagining him sitting in a darkened room, eating out of a gallon ice cream container with a single tear rolling down his cheek right now.
He's an awesome dude, he's got that incredible charisma. He's got excellent reads but if he wants to do better at tourneys maybe he needs to train harder with real persons instead of bopping online kids. That said I'm not sure he cares that much, and thats fine with me. I mean if I wanted to be someone else I'd rather be him than... Chris G or Justin Wong : )

So AE and UMVC3 finals at NEC looked boring when I peeked in yesterday. Was that the case? I stopped after the USFIV stuff.
GF of AE was two EG players and top 3 of UMVC3 was the same top 3 we have seen over and over again with probably collusion.

Damn, just as I say that...

he's consoling himself with all the pics his female fanbase sends him of them being half-naked with his name written on their nether regions

or male fanbase making their girlfriends?

honestly, the zeroes werent helping marvel. and i fear for evo if the top 16 is 50% zeroes.

Chris G honestly approaches every game like this. He finds something that he can exploits and exploits it until you prove to him that it won't work on you. He got mileage in vanilla marvel simple from air throwing people over and over. He plays morrigan and doom in ultimate which is him throwing fireballs and missiles at dudes. The difference between his marvel and AE careers is that he is not a student of AE. In other words he doesn't practice like how others do, doesn't study matche ups, and doesn't watch match videos.

NEC stream numbers.

I don't understand how fighting game streams outside of Evo can never break this 25k - 27k simultaneous viewer threshold.
Evo got 150k and was way up from 2012, which was way up from 2011, but major/money match streams hit the level they're at during the Cross Counter money matches in 2011, and they haven't been able to reach more people since.

It explains how you overpay for everything.

I can definitely see that. Makes quite a bit of sense too, he's good, but I think that's partially because of him being a great fighting game player overall and because of his character, but compared to how Sanford played in his exhibition matches this weekend, and how he plays in Marvel against F. Champ constantly trying to out-meta him, there's such a huge difference between all of that and how he plays Street Fighter.

Not that he isn't really good, of course.

Not sure how much of this the stream saw, but Esteban / Hold Back to Block caught some great footage of the staring contest that went down...

Officially the hypest part of NEC

Wolfkrone complaining about chuns jump on facebook. Says he'll use her to troll ppl by just jumping around fast.

Something something pot kettle black

It's 50/50. But like you said a lot the tournament will be decided by bracket seating. I don't see Sako being uncomfortable with any opponent there.

I think Sako deserves to be more or less the favourite.

However he also doesn't seem to be in the best of form and isn't known for bringing his A game to these sort of tournaments. Keep in mind Fuudo beat him in Topanga a couple of weeks ago.

As for Chris G, he might have beaten Xian, but I don't rate Xian much either. Against people who know the Gen or Sakura match-ups they both seem to run out of ideas and I think they'll hit that wall hard again here. Building 2 bars and throwing out ex-srk FADC over and over just isn't going to get the job done.

The bracket will of course be key.

I think its going to be Fuudo or Alioune. And Alioune is someone who has actually practiced and can efficiently use proximity OS which I think a lot of people aren't prepared for.

I'm still laughing at how flux got bodied. I expected it to be 10-8 in Marn's favor but 10-6 is pretty free considering Flux grinds the game mad hard.

How nice of him to let his fellow Gods have some of the glory. It will not be proper unless one of them wins.
