Fighting Games Weekly | Dec 9-15 | Funding Nemo? Not yet...

I think some of you guys are underestimating ChrisG's adaptation and thinking. He doesn't just pick a character that steamrolls. To qualify for Capcom Cup, he beat Justin Wong in 6 straight matches coming from loser's. You don't get to do shit like that by just "autopilot".

It's Sakura. That same event, in the team tournament, EG lost to a Sakura player that wasn't ChrisG.

6 straight wins against one player. Not a team setting. He got sent to losers by the same man. He was reading Justin openly towards the end. I don't think you can delegitimize his victory with "Sakura."

No but beating Justin Wong's week 1 Rufus isn't going to help him against Sako, Tokido and Fuudo.

I don't think you can read too much into that result and Chris G is basically not proven against this level of competition. That doesn't mean he can't step up, because he has done that before.

But it seems pretty unlikely at this stage. Sakura will not be a problem at all for these players.

Yes, please stop doing this. Sounds like he's straight hatin' on the dude

Well ok maybe that was going a bit far. He used to be able to combo into ultra consistently back then, so it isn't quite the same.

that's always been his issue

it's literally "the justin"

besides that unfortunate recurrence of his, he's unquestionably a world class player

I don't know if there is some arcade stick thread lurking in the community ghetto so I am just going to ask here. What the fuck is wrong with the Tekken Hybrid stick? Why did they make it such a pain in the ass to take apart and did Markman apologize for this bullshit?

I like your forum name. It goes well with your post.

There is nothing wrong with it. It is the same as the Super Street Fighter IV TE-S that was released. There are two ways to open it. You can go from the top or the bottom.

If you go from the top, you'll need a 3m hex screw/allen wrench. After taking out the screws on top you'll need a flathead screwdriver or something else to help pry the metal panel up. The top black panel is held down by an adhesive.

If you want to avoid the adhesive stuff, you can go in through the bottom, you'll need a standard Phillips screwdriver.

I think I've been awake too long, but I just imagined that post being read out in a sexy Markman voice.

I should probably brush up on SFxT so I can play around with the ported characters some more without looking like I'm mashing buttons, lol.

I'm sure this was posted already since it happened roughly three weeks ago, but for those that haven't seen it yet (like me); the NYU Game Center had an eSports (sports sports) summit and invited some folks from the bigger competitive scenes and Gootecks, as a representative of the fighting game scene, to talk about the state of the scene as a whole, it's future, and various other stuff:

http://www.twitch.tv/nyugamecenter/b/481626272 - 8:10

http://www.twitch.tv/nyugamecenter/b/481634438 - 55:38 (panel proper starts here at 4:55)

http://www.twitch.tv/nyugamecenter/b/481643595 - 7:52

http://www.twitch.tv/nyugamecenter/b/481651836 - 31:52 (audience questions, Gootecks addresses perceived exclusionary attitude in FGC [and gives a pretty poor answer in my opinion])

Disappointed that this happened in my own backyard and I didn't hear about it until well after the fact.

I'm not discrediting anything. Just as Shouta said, that's the character. Even Ultradavid was rolling his eyes at the setplay during that grand final. And I openly shit on Uryo as well.

I would actually argue otherwise, that people are quick to defend this particular Sakura because ChrisG is the player.

I do remember that this is the forum that attacked me for saying that JWong needs to get his shit together, as an insult to ChrisG.

My backwards compliment of him picking Yang out of spite still bugs you huh?
