Does anyone know when Japanese PSN is going to update?

It's not "unplayable", but it's definitely the worst possible version of the game.

Best version of V (and VI) are arguably the GBA ports.
My dear god no. The GBA port of VI censors what is probably one of the most important scenes for a certain character, the re-translation fixes some errors but also takes some of the character out of the localization, the music is totally raped and, well, it doesn't run as well as the original SNES version. Really, the best version is the original SNES version either on SNES itself or the Wii (U?) VC version.

If I buy only ONE PS1 game to play on my vita, what should it be?

I don't have any PS1 games yet but I would like to! :)
Alundra. A Zelda-like that is better than most Zeldas (I'd personally rate only ALTTP and Majora's Mask a little higher).

FFIX if you like square rpgs?

Not a bad suggestion. FF7 and FF8 are classic too.

wow, that's tough.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

unless you want a jrpg, then FF IX.

SotN is a hard sell sometimes -- you could just put the money towards Dracula X Chronicles instead, but the version of SotN hidden in there is different and you don't get the PSOne emulator options. So tough call, but good suggestions. :)

While Alundra was a good game to experience, my impressions of it do not put it above any Zelda games. It's solid, but it has a LOT of flaws.

I will forever be alone in my corner recommending Xenogears

I hear it's classic. ;)
Can't talk to it myself though.

All this talk of PSOne games really makes me wish SCEA would make more titles Vita compatible (not to mention add more games all together).

If SCEA supported it, I'd easily be recommending Crash Bandicoot or one of the R-Type games as well. ;)

The real answer, as far as I'm concerned, is one of these games (or ideally both):
Tomba!
Klonoa

You can't go wrong with the Final Fantasy mainline series, SotN, or Alundra.

It is F2P, kind of, but story content & all kinds of extra stuff is hidden behind a paywall. 15$ nets you the story mode.

There's a free "starter pack." Or you can choose to buy the full game upfront.

Thanks guys -- that's what the email told me "free starter pack". And then I went out to the webstore to look at the Vita version and saw it was $15. Maybe someday it will go on sale and I'll pick it up then.

The Dracula X Chronicles version is terrible due to having completely replaced the hilarious original localization.

This isn't a problem for me. I was a little sad that the dialogue was changed, but it's the JP version, so you get extra stuff like being able to play as Maria. The biggest problem I had is that I don't like playing with borders and usually scale the screen for best fit, but since it's PSP, you're stuck with the 4x magnification and the borders that come with it. :|

But for the fact that it came with more awesome games all in one package? I was willing to overlook it.

You should all buy Runner 2 next week. I've 100% it on Wii U, the game is fantastic!

Pure joy

Are you US or EU PSN? Because everyone will give you a different game.
If you're US PSN, wait for the FF games to go on sale. If you're EU PSN, just get the PSP FF games...if they ever go on sale.

...but to answer your question I would recommend
Breath of Fire IV if you're US PSN, or Breath of Fire III fi you're EU PSN

Glad Runner 2 is coming out soon. If it has cross buy I may get it, but I have already finished 100% on PC. Very good game.

Picked up Terraria and Doki Doki Universe today. Terraria looks really nice on the Vita.

EU also got Aabs Animals. Man!

Anyway, time to Doki Doki.

Hmm for some reason I thought Velocity Ultra was more than a graphical update

I don't care though cuz its so bloody good anyways :D Addicted all over again ;_;

Your house may be too close to the corruption.

Thank you! And yeah I'll definitely need to play with someone with party chat, no clue about any of that.

I read a thread over on reddit about how the game's MP doesn't work if you are using skype btw, bit odd, port related or something? Who knows. Anyway.

A Spelunky + Terraria hybrid would be something crazy good. Maybe I need more practice with the Terraria mechanics. And to get some ropes or something. I hope there are ropes. Need to find an advanced crafting guide or something, didn't see it in the list of available stuff to craft. Maybe the furnace stuff!

Other than the mentioned trophies they also added touch to teleport...still need to play it but I heard people said they really liked it.

I'm waiting for Don't Starve.

You and me both, buddy. It's not even 100% confirmed yet, though, is it?

(2) $20-$25 is the market price for it in other regions (UK/EU)

How about no? 25€ is exactly 34.46$. It's lower, indeed, but it's very nearly the only case were the EU price is lower than the US; it's usually the other way around, with most (local) game prices in Spain, for example, being around the 60-80€ (82-97$). Which is hilarious when you consider the average wage in Spain is about half of that of the US, and our unemployment rate is through the roof.

Yeah, we don't agree much, do we? :lol
For me it seems you live in opposite world. :P

This I can get behind. Spelunky and Dragon's Crown account for over 90% of my Vita game time, and I don't see that changing soon.

WipEout 2048 is free for PS+ in NA still. Is that not the case in EU?

Unfortunately not. :( It's one of your yearlies?

Sincerely doubt it, since Runner 2 was a freebie for NA PS+. This would mean a lot of people would get it for free. If Terraria didn't do it, I don't expect Runner 2 to.

Trophies, enhanced controls (touch teleport, right analog bomb control), maybe some other stuff, but the levels are still the same.

(1) I've said it earlier when I had this discussion and I'll say it again. Exchange rate for everything has no bearing on the argument. If games normally cost more where you are and it's releasing under the normal price point (UK/EU), it's being treated as a budget title/release. There's no reason that one continent should receive said pricing and the game is priced at full retail in another.

(2) Yeah, we got WipEout 2048 last November when PS+ for Vita launched. It hasn't changed yet. I keep forgetting it wasn't a launch title for EU PS+ and was added in around January/February so it already cycled out. That sucks for you guys. What's the 3rd "yearly" in EU for Vita?

We don't have one. B-b-but isn't EU PS+ supposed to be better? :P

Do you still get 5 Vita games? Yes?

Then if you don't have a 3rd yearly, I'd say that's better... unless you don't own a Sony product at all so you didn't have a reason to own PS+ and missed out on stuff.
We've been stuck with Gravity Rush, Uncharted, and WipEout 2048 for over a year now without indication of it changing anytime soon. Personally, I'd rather have no game stick around PS+ for more than 6 months tops.
But I guess in the long run, it doesn't matter, since it's just "how long til the next 2 titles swap in?". :P

IGN reviewed the Vita 2000.

psvita1301jpg-e9716b.jpg

Nice. I'm staying away from it due to my love for OLED, but hopefully this is a sign of them releasing it in the west sooner rather than later.

I hope it does. It looks like a fascinating game.

What's up with the desire for that Dengeki Vita skin?

I don't get it either. Naked Vita is the best Vita.
I use a very thin Hori screen protector on mine though.

Also, GoW HD Collection for Vita was rated by the ESRB yesterday. How long does it usually takes from getting the rating to release?

I really like the look of the white versions of the Vita 2000, and the extra battery life is nice.

Really tempted to get one but thinking maybe I should hold out for a Western release of the Vita TV. I don't want to end up with three Vitas, haha.
The photos from Engadget's review of the white on white 2000 was also what made me pick up same color, it's def very sleek

What's up with the desire for that Dengeki Vita skin?
I think the pattern itself is pretty ugly, was more interested in just the fact that dezaskin type skins are possible on the curved and segmented 2000 since there aren't any available yet. I just want one to make the entire face of the Vita matte and eliminate fingerprints/smudges

yikes at the amount of time i just spent on that free ps mobile game super crate box

could only manage top score of 20 tho, going to be addicted. :x

Haven't tried it out yet. Will do later

Question regarding PSP games on Vita. Does the Vita emulate the PSP? Or does the Vita have PSP parts inside of it so it essentially becomes a PSP (Like the Wii U does with Wii Mode) whenever PSP games are played?
