Any one else had problems with Turel Tree area?

Almost lost my sense to it last night. Played that area about 2 hours and somehow managed to clear it for the cost of night sleeps...

My fingers dont bend to repeatedly push left stick + X + O + R1
when you need to jump from one pole to another and same time change living / dead world. Also same goes to crossing those red vines that make damage. So hard to get it right with L1 + X + moving left, even harder if I try right stick instead L1

I know that when I finish this game. Ill delete it from my memory card. Good game but those annoying things are awful. Next goal is to finish this game asap w/o trying to get extra stuff.

Not sure how good this is to play with DS3 (or DS4 +PS3)? Only good thing is that this game was PS+ freebie.

The only real advice I can give you is to keep at it. I did it on Vita so it's definitely possible but these sections can be a bit trial and error. I just soldiered through but I was lucky to never really get stuck on the harder sections in this game.
Maybe you'll have an easier time with a ds3, although I preferred the Vita myself.

My only problem (aside getting some extra stuff, but you know, that's supposed to be hard and punish you... is extra stuff xD) was the final boss. That guy had some quite random attacks, where it was more a matter of luck than skill to evade. Those things you are saying were quite annoying, but you get used to it after a while.

For the ones that have finished the game
Calaca first form is just learning how to jump to evade his attacks and break the auras. The second boss felt random because sometimes it was absolutely imposible to evade his attacks (after throwing things there is like half a second when you can't do anything but you can take damage). So for me that battle was throwing as much stuff as I could to Mega Calaca and exploiting the fact that when you are about to throw something, you cannot get any damage. I died a couple of times until I have enough luck to not get hit in those death times and kill the boss.

Can anyone point me at an LP of Terraria, or a good introduction video to the game that describes all of its facets?

You should all buy Runner 2 next week. I've 100% it on Wii U, the game is fantastic!
Been waiting for this since the announce. ^_^

buy Ys: Memories of Celceta
I like how this looks, but not sure I'd like it.

The only people that will see digital games, are people with a PS Vita already.
Obviously it needs to be marketed hard so people are aware that it's available on the Vita (bundle is a great idea) but we're talking about Minecraft here. It's traditionally a digital product, so a retail release is in no way necessary.

So I played the free-to-play Yu-Nama The Puzzle "remake" on my Japanese Vita.

It's basically exactly the same as the PSM game in terms of the gameplay - tapping pieces to remove, sliding and making 3 matches to kill three or so enemies before they reach your base.

However the new stuff comes in the form of the RPG leveling of your pieces - you can swap out your pieces for new pieces along the five "levels" of pieces, leveling them up by fusing them with pieces of their level and heroes you get from beating the stages.
You can also put new heroes to work in the salt mines, which are from the previous iterations of this game (No Heroes Allowed etc) on the PSP - they mine through the walls and find treasure chests with powerups, random trinkets and new monsters.

Unfortunately, the one thing they don't find is extra lives.

Much like other free-to-play titles, this game has a lives mechanic which completely breaks any sort of replayability the game has, because you can only play it for about 5 minutes a DAY. Each stage takes one life, and you can spend as little as two minutes on a stage if you're well prepared. You're given about ten lives to start with, but the lives don't start regenerating until you get to 3 or less lives, and they take eight hours EACH. It's ridiculously slow and the only reason I didn't delete the game immediately is because it's on my Japanese Vita and I barely touch it once a day anyway. The only way to get infinite lives is to pay $10.

Oh, you have a party. What kind of negative comments?

The graphics and the art design is so good, really is up to my taste. I loved Ragnarok Tactics on PSP and I have been looking for something similar since.

So which options does Europeans have for playing Ys?

Can you just use an NA SEN account to purchase it through or must you import the game? (Still haven't used a Vita yet, so no idea how that works)

Wakamoto is an awesome man, but he is still a man... And what is a man but a miserable pile of secrets, compared to the glorious mediocrity that is the original English dub of SotN?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7z65s0fqDw4

Dude please stop, as narmy as the english dub is, that's your nostalgia talking.
Gimme sexy Wakamoto voice for my sexy Drac all day, e'ry day.

LET THE VOICE OF WAKAMOTO BE THY SALVATION!

Speaking of which that Shonen Jump vs. game is releasing on Vita too right? Was Gash Bell confirmed in the game?

You would have make a US account, yes. However Vita supports only one account. Everytime you'd want to play Ys you would have to switch accounts which is an annoying process. Importing or waiting till Feb is best.

Downloading Rainbow Moon now...

Any official threads on GAF?

Damn, shit sounds lots of fun. More than 100 hours of gameplay. The customization seems huge.

YEAAHHHH.

II hate the AI in those levels.
Yeah, Globox's AI is SUCH. FUCKING. MORONIC. DIMWIT. IDIOTIC. SHIT-ASS. CRAP that - having played daily & weekly murphy challenges a lot - I can say without a doubt and with much confidence that anyone who has ever tried to claim "the touch-based Murphy levels are great" is factually so, so, so, so very wrong that no one has ever been as wrong in the Universe. They are the worst crap to ever grace any platformer, an insult towards humanity.

just beat Spelunky on my Vita for the first time this morning. that was fun, it's been a while since i beat the last boss. of course i was offline away from my wifi, so the score didnt register. wasnt anything that special anyways.

im kind of swiitching back and forth between the dpand and the analog stick. i like the d-pad a bit better, but its so cramped up against the L trigger it get a bit tiresome. with a game that can get this manic. the stick works pretty well though.

ill spam it again since im not getting many (any) bites: add me for Spelunky leaderboards on PSN! Dwight_Frye

do it!

Question about the 64Gb card.

I'm assuming Play-Asia is the best place to order?

Does it function exactly like a US card?
Do I have to worry about not being able to update firmware/software?
Any negatives to importing, other than the price?

That's actually quite an easy boss once you get the pattern down. He clearly telegraphs his attacks, and each one is different. Once I figured it out I could kill him without getting hit.

Is Velocity Ultra supposed to be on sale? There seems to be a bug on the Store right now, it says the game is €2,49 but when you click it it's actually the demo and you can't buy it.

*edit* Oh wait... this was a free PS+ game wasn't it? lol

You made me remember how the localized Vita ports of FFX/X-2 HD still doesn't have a release date while the PS3 has one. ;__;

It'll probably stealth release in the US with 2 days lead time like other Vita games have.

Are there checkpoints in Spelunky at all? Or do I just go back to 1-1 after dying every time?

I'm not really "getting it" yet.

Spoiler for if you want 'checkpoints'.

Once you make it through World 1 you can give someone materials to create a shortcut to the next world. However you have to do this 3 times with 3 different things to create the shortcut.

Otherwise, yes, you start back at 1-1 every time. That's what's great about the game though, 1-1 is always different.

Is there a way to regain health?

Save the damsels (or Dudesels) stuck in the mines with you.

Save bitches or kiss them for maximum regen.

Beat the fourth level of the world. You'll meet a guy who asks for something to build a tunnel. Fulfill his requirements several times and you'll unlock the shortcut for the next world. You can then choose to either use that shortcut or start from the beginning when you die. Same for the other worlds, thought some of the later requirements are a lot harder. The last requirement to unlock the shortcut to the fourth world basically requires you to be the entire first 3 worlds in one run.

You suck hard at the game now. But fear not. Eventually things will click. You'll get better, understand how to deal with things and after a while you'll question how the hell you were struggling this much in the early parts of the game. Keep pushing through and see how you feel later.

Once everything clicks you won't use the shortcuts anyway because you don't generate enough cash/items that way. So fear not dude that's bad at Spelunky.
