Except for the part where it'll never happen.

It already has. There's no way this is two seperate characters.
What was the original caption for this, btw?

Spring Release deconfirmed. How sad.
I'd like to see Bass, or Proto Man as an alt for Rock.
Ha!And whenever Villager grabs Bass...
See? Bass!

I don't really care. This is how it comes off. This is how they come off. Is that my fault? No. Like I said, neither side is perfect. I remember the tales of Dylan Tnga of the Smash Boards and how he became the personification of them from years ago and that's about as far as I got involved.I don't think you know when players are called scrubs
(you're welcome to ask FGC-GAF at any time though)
That's a fair point. The male and female Wii Fit Trainers are the same character, sharing the same name. That's why I think Villager is eligible for a model swap, in his case a female Villager. Same concept, same name, same character -- just a different gender.you imply Wii Fit Male and Female are two distinct characters.
And whenever Villager grabs Bass...
See? Bass!
lol
But yea, ever since[MM] 7, I've been a fan of him. I like anti-heroes and rivals. Proto is cooler (dat scarf!), but I'd take either. They all share the same proportions, so it wouldn't be too much work. The bones of the characters would fit just fine, at least.
I'm assuming WTFs will have seperate voice work.
Except for the part where they're distinctly two different characters.
I really like Sakurai's "do not turn characters into skin" approach.
Eh, I'm not sure it's as meaningful with Pokémon Trainer. The trainer just stands in the background, and most people affiliate the Kanto trio with (male) Red. He was the true final boss of Gold and Silver, after all!Pretty much. I expect Villager to have male and female counterparts too. Hell they should even make Pokemon Trainer have male and female counterparts too.

Holy shit, how did you guys not notice Pac-Man -- LOOK!

Sakurai, you sly bastard
I don't understand.
I'm saying they are the same character, sharing the same selectable space on the select screen.
Eh, I'm not sure it's as meaningful with Pokémon Trainer, since the trainer just stands in the background, and the Kanto trio is more affiliated with (male) Red than any other trainer. I mean, he even appears in that form, with those Pokémon (albeit all evolved) as the boss of Mount Silver in GSC.
The better way to implement a female trainer would be to make a newcomer with new Pokémon. As I suggested before, the female trainer from XY, with the XY starters, would be a nice parallel, since X and Y let you use both the Kalos starters and the Kanto starters.
So the original Pokémon Trainer would be rebranded "Pokémon Trainer Red" and feature the Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard, while the newcomer would be called "Pokémon Trainer Y" and feature Chespin (most popular first form), Braxien (most popular second form), and Greninja (most popular final form).
Each has unique features (Chespin's spines, Braxien's wand, Greninja's water shurikens and tongue), and each has a type advantage over its equivalent stage on Red's team. A perfect rival!
lol, I'm fairly certain that wouldn't be an issue either wayYeah, this is likely. The male VA for Wii Fit Trainer isn't that prolific (he's pretty much an unknown) so I'm sure he'd jump at the role.
Yes. You're doing false equivalency though. Since them suddenly having it doesn't mean you can do stuff like "let's turn Wolf into Fox skin!"

I think BD is saying Mega Man & Bass are two distinclty different characters. And I am aware of that.
But at the end of the day, they both shoot with arm mounted Mega Busters. He doesn't need to have a unique move set. All he needs to do is look the part, i.e. X's skin for Zero in UMVC3.
Like the "Daisy" skin of Peach or the "Shadow Link" skin of Link, but more detailed and a name change. But at the end of the day, they both shoot with arm mounted Mega Busters. He doesn't need to have a unique move set. All he needs to do is look the part, i.e. X's skin for Zero in UMVC3.
EDIT - Why you tryin' to hurt my dreams, Doggie? Hmm!?
But Capcom has a tendency to be terrible at doing that and simply putting skins and shit. I mean, I seriously doubt "Jon Talbain" is properly represented by putting him as a skin of the freakin' Sun Goddess.
Hell, Megaman & Bass alone shows how different the two are. Bass is more of a stationary fighter, who is more agile but dies quickly, and merges with Treble than simply using it as a vehicle. I mean, sure Sakurai may do clones, but at least he treats them (most at least) as different characters.

Not sure if this is just a personal perception, but... they've been awfully slow with revealing the new characters this time around.
Wii Fit Trainer and Villager having alternate gender models/skins would also further justify them being revealed first. After all, this allows Sakurai to introduce a "twist" to each character at a later date, so that they're still interesting by the time the game rolls around.I think it's reasonable to believe that the Villager will have an alternate skin for a female character. Seems something that would be relatively easy to add to the game. Hitboxes and everything would be identical (granted the Wii Fit male trainer is also the same)
They've done pretty alternate outifts before like Classic and regular Wario. each one had like 3-4 different colors for each "version", right? So there should be at least a Red/Blue/Green/Yellow/ Other color scheme for Male AND Female trainer right?
I'm actually surprised Sakurai hasn't shown off the alternate colors yet (or did he?) It'd be nice to see if they switch around any colors for characters/add in new ones.
I think you mean a homage via color palette then. And that stuff is pretty common in fighting games.
Naw, I want an alternate skin/model.
Yeah but that was terrible since I will never accept X being good with swords, even if I consider X6 to exist. Color palettes are the less offensive method since it doesn't try to hide that the character is still not the "skin".

1. We still don't know that he's not an assist trophy or some sort of special move.
2. He Fit Trainer is functionally identical to She Fit trainer. Bass and Proto Man function different than Mega Man, a closer comparison to MTrainer being an alt for FTrainer would be Female Villager or Dr. Mario - alternate versions of an identical character.
That still doesn't change my desire to see at the least them as alternate skins. Again, using the way Capcom did X for Zero. I don't need them to play the same as they did in their games.
And I know nothing concrete has been said about WFT male. Fun to speculate though, isn't it?

I wasn't saying anything about your desire, I'm just saying that it ain't happenin'.
The inclusion of Yellow Devil as a stage hazard would cripple any desire to play Dr. Wily's Castle which would be a damn shame. At the very least I HOPE he is a rare occurence and doesn't happen frequently to disturb regular play.
