Just bought a Wii U. Surprisingly, there were no shortages.

Two things:

1st: Now the eShop icon on the lower part of the Gamepad screen animates (like the Miiverse one) when they update the eShop with new games!

2nd: That Christmas song is awesome. Finally made it's way to the UK! ;D

After some "confusion" with my launch PS4 pre-order which left me with 3 PS4 games and no PS4 to play them on (at least until early 2014)

Even though It could of gotten ugly I guess I was just having a good day... they offered me a discount so I took it as an opportunity to grab a Wii U premium and a few games for it.

I really didn't know where to start since the last time I owned anything by Nintendo was the 64 so I played it safe and went the Mario route, but i will definitely check out some of the game suggestions in this thread.

Been having a great time with it too, very fun.

Sucks what happened with your PS4, but nice to see all the new Wii U owners welcome to the club, ZombieU is an awesome game if you're into survival horror, there's a demo on the eShop if you want to try it out. Pikmin 3 it also awesome, it's a great strategy game and with the dlc out now you can have quite a bit to play. Lego City is also good and will keep you entertained for a long while over 60 hrs if you want to 100% it.

I just went out and bought The Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3! Can't wait to give them a go.
I began my Wii U library a little over a month ago and I'm loving the way it's looking. So excited to see how it looks come the end of 2014!

(Not a bad line-up for the console after only one year, eh?)

wow
that's pretty much the cream of the cream of gaming
you have hundrets of hours of fun sitting right there. if you let it, MH3 will suck you in it's universe and won't let you go anymore.
enjoy your WiiU

I have to say, i was rather sceptic about those blue casings at first... but i think they bring out the color of the boxart (at least if the color palette is chosen wisely).

So what are the must have vanilla Wii games?

Super Paper Mario, SSX Blur, The Last Story, Little King's Story (I hear, still haven't found a copy personally), Okami, RE4, Trauma Center, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Cursed Mountain. Just a few more.

I teased myself so badly last Friday by popping re4 into the U and then watching it on the Pad.

What I would give to be able to play that in Off TV.

Bravo, you're pretty much good for the year lol. My Wii U's in the mail( Mario/Luigi bundle) and I already picked up Nintendoland, ZombiU and Rayman Legends cheap through various sales and black friday. I'll prob wind up with all those games in your pic except Monster Hunter( never been able to get into that series for whatever reason) and never played Pikmin though I'm willing to give it a try.

Nice lineup. If you get a chance give Lego City Undercover a shot. I'm not a huge Lego fan but Lego City was very good. Definitely worth a play.

I ended up snagging New Super Mario Bros U and Super Mario World 3D for $60. How is the Luigi DLC? Worth getting or is NSMBU enough content?

Surprised Capcom haven't done a RE4 U port to be honest. Wii pointer controls plus Miiverse integration and inventory management/Off-TV play.

Personally, I like it though I've always liked Luigi. It's a bit different as the levels are much shorter but the time limit is also much shorter. It forces you to rush through the levels. It's hard to imagine that it makes as big of a difference to the game as it does. That said, NSMBU has plenty of content but NSLU also has plenty of content and Best Buy recently had it for $15 for the Retail version.

Should probably just play through NSMBU first. If you want a more difficult remix of those levels with Luigi after that, then bite. It would suck to buy it then realize that the gameplay of NSMBU isn't grabbing you like you thought it would.

Got a Wii U Mario Bundle at Target, mainly due to Mario 3d World looking like the only game that might be fun to play with relatives over the holiday. I'm returning my ps4 soon because of fan noise...I haven't even opened my wii u yet because i don't want to deal with wonky console fans to see if it runs well or not.

You really shouldn't hear the WiiU fan at all. The thing is quiet.

I actually enjoyed NSLU a lot. For some reason it feels like playing Super Mario World because I can run through a lot of those levels quickly and feel like a platforming badass. The levels in NSLU are short and tough but not cheap.

Wii U's fans are quiet and I can't say I've ever heard them ramp up. I have an external drive attached to my Wii U and without a disc in the Wii U I find the external actually makes more noise. Even with a disc in the Wii U I find ambient noise easily overcomes it.

I'm thinking about getting CoD Ghosts for Christmas.

I heard the player count is pretty low in online (1000-2000)

1. Is it hard to find a match?

2. Do you think we'll see a player spike come Christmas?

I want to retire my 360 until March (Dark Souls II) then finally lay it to rest afterwards. So I don't want to buy CoD on there + I don't feel like paying for XBL G. Otherwise I'd get it for 360, but I want to buy CoD on Wii U because I want something else to play after I get my Nintendo game kick.

1. Not for TDM, HCTDM, Dom, Infected, cranked and Extinction mode. Other modes it is hard to get matches going.
2. I'm not expecting a big one honestly. Maybe for the first week or so after but it'll die off quickly. Plus I don't think it will be that big of a spike in the first place since the game isn't sold in most stores.

Still a fun game though and the more the merrier.

i registered quite a few products at club nintendo however i'm having difficulties getting it to accept the serial..

Only the Pin codes i could still find inside my cases have worked.

I'm using the # on the serial code used to scan when you purchase the product. Is there a catch to it? or is that not the serial i'm supposed to use?

Any help would be appreciated

That's not a serial number, that's a UPC. Use the serial number on the bottom of the Wii U itself.

Wii U is a quiet device. You may hear a little noise from a disc spinning or notice that it kinda rumbles a shelf when it starts up, but that is basically inaudible once you're playing.

I just love it. The gamepad is an easy way for me to browse GAF at night while kids/gf watch TV. Just one more way it makes it more fun to all hang out together.

thanks man.. just did that to register the system.. will it now takes downloaded games such as

Luigi U and Lego City etc and give me the coins for them? Didn't get any coins yet though it accepted the #

So if i lost the Pin # for my Wii games such as mario galaxy 1-2, animla crossing and donkey kong country returns i have no way to register them?

Thanks for the feedback! I will hold off and see how I feel after NSMBU is done. I am just really excited to play some more Mario finally.

Please update your pic with ANY other game sitting on top of Wii Party U.

I've now used the Wii U for a week without ever touching the Gamepad. Nintendo could easily patch the firmware to make it possible to access the portions of the console that are gamepad-only with a wiimote or Pro if they wanted to dump the gamepad and drastically lower the price of the console. This week has also shown me how much better of a controller the Pro is than the DS4 and Xbox One controller. I love it.

It's beautiful, isn't it. I had my doubts before I got the console, but wow; Nintendo still got dat controller design!

Sat down this afternoon and played Wind Waker for like 3 or 4 hours straight. Came upstairs and it was pitch black outside. A startling contrast from the bright colors of that fucking ridiculously pretty game.

Things were a bit darker after I looked at the NPD numbers, too.

But Wind Waker, gaddamit. So good.

The Insane battery life helps too

Literally have a Wii U bundle in a cart on BB.com waiting for purchase and this is the lineup I am considering(replacing Wii U party with Lego City).

Can't quite pull the trigger yet though...

Lego City would be a perfect choice.
I spend dozens of hours in that game just exploring that beautiful world.
