Raise the flame shield: Your "controversial" gaming opinion.

Honestly, I liked ME2 better because it marginalized the Reaper plot. They weren't effective villains to me after Sovereign spilled his guts about everything except their motive and just about every other antagonist in the games displayed more personality than Sovereign, Saren, and Harbinger combined.

That's fair enough. The ending of the first game was weak.

Everything really should be more like Dark Souls. I say these words without irony or sarcasm.

This isn't controversial. We haven't been able to have a thread here about any game without someone either mentioning Dark Souls or begging for the developers to make the game more like Dark Souls all year.

Sly 2 and 3 (especially 2) are much better than borefest that is Sly 1 (haven't played the fourth one yet, but I imagine it's better than the first one at least).

Knack and Ryse are both excellent games. Reviewers and critics don't have the faintest fucking clue about anything these days. The people who bashed these games are the same folks who defended the original Xbox One DRM bullshit. Fuck them.

I own all three systems. The PS4, Wii U and Xbox One all have their strengths and weaknesses. I love them all....just not equally. If I had only one to choose or only one to recommend to a fellow gamer, I'd go with the PS4 every single day of the week. It is, objectively, the better system in nearly every way imaginable. There is no contest. Sure, every system will improve over time and more games will be released. But right now, you really are out of sorts and out of touch with reality if you cannot admit the PS4 is the logical choice at the moment. The Xbox One is good, but clearly under cooked, rushed and not ready. Plus it's obvious MS is more focused on mainstream entertainment instead of gaming. If that's your thing, more power to you. But in regards to gaming, Xbox One is inferior. It's the truth. Sony isn't fucking around and it shows. Their console so far has surpassed my expectations. It's an incredible machine. Sony gets it, while MS seems to have lost their touch. The PS4 is cheaper and more powerful. It boasts a fluid, fast and user friendly UI, amazing value out of the box plus free games and more games out now and in development than it's competitor. What else is there to say?

The last of us wasn't very good. The Xbox one UI is disappointing in so many ways. The XB1 controller is way better than the DS4. I don't understand the appeal of side scroller games. Valve makes the most overrated games ever. The psx is better than the ps2. the n64 is better than the snes.

Your opinion on the ps4 is what the vast majority of Gaf thinks.

Try as I might, I cannot get into Skyrim as I find it super boring and charmless.
Fallout 3 is one of my all-time favourite games.

In terms of holding up over time, Burnout Paradise is a better game than Burnout 3: Takedown.

GTAIV was the first good GTA game, GTAV just improved on it.

Klonoa is a better series AND mascot than Spyro or Crash. The fact that the Wii version didn't sell enough for a Lunatea's Veil remake makes me cry.

My favourite Final Fantasy games are I, X and XIII.
IX is quirky garbage, I haven't played IV, V, VI, VIII or XII

MOBAs (mainly LoL, its the only one I properly play) are better than any RTS ever made.

I might have already said this in this thread but....

- The Dead Space series is one of the most technically amazing games this generation. Everything from graphics to atmosphere are amazing.

- Dead Space 3 receives ridiculous amounts of hate. It is also one of the most amazing games technically this generation, especially in concern to graphics and animation of character models. It could easily pass as an early PS4/Xbox One game.

Here is mine:

Sony should drop support for the PlayStation Vita and release its handheld games on mobile devices. It is faring as well as the Wii U.

FFVII's success and direction (and the deeper pursuit thereof) is the reason why the whole series slowly devolved into the likes of XIII, by extension were it not for the existence of XIII, the 2/3 of the PS1 era FFs (VII and VIII) would be the weakest in the series (tl;dr VII should blamed for the mess that is current age FF and not revered)

Digital Devil Saga is better the the whole of new school Persona

KoF XIII is the best fighting game this gen

ASW > Capcom in terms of fighting games

There should be more Luigi and less Mario

MVC3/UMVC3 is a bigger mess than SFxT ever was

NIS has the potential to become better than Squeenix

Controversial opinions, huh...

- FFXIII is much better than FFVIII & FFXII.
- FFVII was a good game, but nothing special.
- Assassin's Creed-series has an awful climbing system.
- All EA-sports games are really bad.
- Borderlands was really boring.
- GTA IV was really boring as well.

I agree, The Dead Space games are fantastic, some of my favourite games not just of last generation, but ever.

I know I'm in the minority, but "rental" games hold no value to me.

I'm a ps+ subscriber but only for the discounts, easy patching/updates, and for when I get a ps4 soon. If I don't own a game (as much as we can actually own a digital game) I just don't want to play it. I almost never even play demos for the same reason. I'm not suggesting that I have a need to buy, I just need to own, so free games from games with gold from Microsoft appeal to me more than the instant game collection from Sony. Granted, Microsoft has given us pretty crappy titles.

This is just one of my many problems/issues in life, but the one that kind of fits the topic.

The HL3 whiners, that come out of the woodwork every time any Valve game is mentioned, need to be taken behind the woodshed and put down.

Bioshock Infinite's ending was utter garbage, and made the whole game moot.

Persona 4 is laughable, gigidigi made that pretty clear and probably quit doing the comic cuz she found out as such.

PS Vita has a pittance of good games as compared to the 3DS.

KOTOR suffered from being incomplete, and therefore are a shadow of what they could have been.

Metroid Fusion is the best entry in the series, and after playing it, I didn't care about Zero Mission in the least.

I hate Pokemon. The combat's just boring. You pretty much just spam your best Pokemon's best move 99% of the time. Waste of money, imo.

I have read only about a handful of opinions that could be of actual use to a developer. The vast, vast majority of the fan input into discussions about the medium is nothing but mediocre diatribe. The higher a community is in the hierarchy of "important" communities, the worse it is. People everywhere seem to think that even though games aren't worthy of intellectual investment, they should have an opinion, and that it should be heard in equitable stance to everyone else's.

At least four fifths of the "games are not art" folk are people who have no artistic education whatsoever, and have not spent a week's worth of time studying the subject.

3DS library is really awful for an adult gamer in this day and age, but people seem so happy with it. Terrible selection of games in comparison to what the Vita has.

There's like OOT and maybe 3DLand, Mario Kart. Pretty much everything is targeting children or people into Japanese games.

Sure, exclusives, I get it. But are people really playing indies on home consoles instead of big budget titles? Nah.

In take offense in the wrongness of this.

I like you if only for your avatar.

I liked Epic Mickey a lot

I think ALBW is pitifully easy and 3D World is barren of innovation.

GTA IV is probably my second favorite game ever made (behind the general Pokemon series and followed close by other games like Yoshis Island and Persona 4)

Pokemon Ruby is my favorite Pokemon game, and I'm not a fan of Black 2, Soul Silver, or X.

I love Nintendo, but I think the Wii U is absolutely earning its failure right now by rushing games out on 2 year development cycles without even a touch of innovation.

I think DKCR is the best DKC game.

I love the Resistance series.

I would take a good Suda 51 game over a great Kamiya game any day of the week

I think Persona 3/4 is infinitely better than the SMT series, but I like both.

Out of PC, Sony, Xbox, and Nintendo, I find Nintendo fanboys hardest to tolerate with their delusional sense of elitism and refusal to acknowledge any competition in a positive light. They also seem to feel like they have the biggest stake in the company's future despite not owning a single chare of the company. Everyone sucks and everyone probably sucks equally, but Nintendo fanboys are personally the hardest for me to tolerate.

I supported an always online system because of the Xbox One having a digital ecosystem similar to steam. Which I loved the idea at the time...I was probably the only one who thought so though.

Killzone: Shadow Fall is technically the best-looking console game ever.

GTAIV is awesome. One of my favorite games ever.

Skyrim > Oblivion a hundred times over.

MGS4 is the best MGS.

GT5 is the best racing game ever (haven't played 6 yet).

Twilight Princess is the best Zelda game.

DS3 is better than the 360 controller.

My friend gifted me a copy of Half-Life 2 some months ago. It is his favorite game of all time. I like Valve and am a longtime CounterStrike player, so I figured I'd like HL2.

Nope.

I can't put my finger on it, but I just didn't find it very fun for some reason. The driving sections gave me motion sickness. And the story wasn't that compelling to me. Just a really underwhelming experience overall. I'm near the end, but haven't played it in over a month. I really have no desire to finish it.

Surprising, since HL2 seems to be one of Valve's most beloved games.

- I didn't like Vanquish.
- I want new racing game from Naughty Dog. I liked Jak X.
- Demons Souls feels and looks much better than Dark Souls.

I actually imagine the resolution is a factor here, Demon's Souls is native 720p, while Dark Souls is MILDLY upscaled from 1024x720, which means Demon's Souls is subtly sharper except on PC with DSfix. Feeling better... I do think you may move a bit faster and snappier in Demon's Souls while Dark Souls feels a bit heavier, which I don't think is bad but is absolutely a case where I can see preferring one or the other, but similar to the resolution difference it's subtle.

Don't see how any of those are controversial. Except maybe the last one or 2.

My turn:

I hate the shit out of Mario. That little scumbag has been alive for too long, it's time to retire. I hate how nintendo is riding him and zelda and milking the shit out of nostalgia driven individuals to buy their shit.

Talking about nintendo Wii U sucks. Major ass. Why the shit that's considered a next-gen console is beyond me. It's a nintedoe'd poor version of ps3. I'll take unchared and god of war over any stupid nintendo games. Also hate how that shit is in the next-gen screenshots thread.

Crysis is an awesome game.

Bulletstorm is amazing, one of the best games I've played.

~~Ahh.. felt good getting out of my chest.

Don't like Shin Megami Tensei or Persona games.

Drakes Fortune was the best Uncharted game.

Mario stopped being good when Mario 64 came out.

I have not found any enjoyment in the Suda51 games I've played and think he's incredibly overrated.

Reach was the best Halo.

What about this one, Higher difficulties ruin games.

Not talking about just difficult games in general (your Dark Souls or something)

I am talking about things like the ultra hard modes in stuff like Devil May Cry. These require playing games in an almost clinical fashion making them more like work than playing a game.

Crysis 1 is the best Crysis, the sequels aren't even in the same realm, therefore I don't care for their existence. The developers completely missed the point of infatuation with the first one.

Oh, and Dragon Quest VIII is, perhaps, the greatest video game achievement of all time.

such anger :o

I sort of feel the same way, although I won't comment on the non-bold part (3D World looks great to me, but haven't played it yet, but i will eventually). Not that I want the Wii U to die or anything, but the way they've been doing things is honestly baffling that they're kind of asking for it. :/ I wish Nintendo would stop being so arrogant. Hopefully things will get better next year... But there is so much I want to be fixed about the Wii U.

I'm not sure how this is controversial, the last point is just an opinion and most people actually agree with the first point....
