Something about this statement rubs me the wrong way. If every day was Weekend!SmashGAF, then the distinction between it and Weekday!SmashGAF would cease to exist, and noting it would be completely frivolous.

So I was wondering...Is Smash 4 not going to add any new gameplay/mechanic staples to the series?
Melee added the..pretty much everything. Side-B attacks, charged smashes, air dodging, directional attacks, way too much to list but you get the idea.
Brawl added Final Smashes and....tripping?
I guess Smash 4 is just gonna refine the previous mechanics and that's it?

Yeah, it seems that way. I'm a bit disappointed; I was hoping we'd see some sort of new attacks or techniques.

Well... Until we have the games, we won't really know for sure. Sakurai is holding his cards closer to his chest this time around, so it's possible he's come up with something like Team Final Smashes (as an example) and just hasn't shown it yet.
We probably won't see major news until February or April or so.

You're thinking of Diamond and Pearl. Ruby and Sapphire actually had quite a few: Torchic/Combusken/Blaziken, Vulpix/Ninetales, Slugma/Magcargo, Numel/Camerupt, and Torkoal.
Diamond and Pearl had a great selection of fire pokemon if you liked Rapidash.
For those of you who don't get it: That's the only other fire pokemon aside from the starter you can find in the region before beating the champion.

according to everyone apparently weekendgaf is starting to pour into weekdaygaf, which means sakurai is going to be showing a new reveal soon, this literally always happens, people start losing their minds because of no new reveals and then sakurai comes in with the daily pic
Infernape was great but so were the other two starters.
It isn't fair that you have to choose only one.
I mean they were great sure, but infernape interms of actual use, good god.
Then again, a lot of things in that gen were broken/overpowered/generally good to use.
The Year of Cranky is upon us. Sakurai will not disappoint.
I'm just going off of what Brawl did which did not have cutscenes for other bosses, but you're right that there weren't any equivalents to the Yellow Devil being an intractable stage hazard.
