I can understand that to be sure, but items don't exactly affect everyone the same way, even randomly. Characters with more mobility, which are usually already some of the better characters in that game, have an advantage when it comes to getting items than the slower, more bulky characters. And the randomness factor is, to many people, a negative thing - there is nothing more frustrating than losing a match because both your rival and you got Poke Balls, but you got a Goldeen while your rival got a Lugia.
Items definitely have their place. In more casual play, such as FFA on random stages, they add a lot of variety and silliness to the wacky gameplay. Which is great, to be sure! But when you're trying to play seriously, randomness has much less place. Randomness inherent in card games and the like is more equivalent to some of Smash's more minor random elements - where each player starts off in Brawl, or Mr. G&W's Judgment number. Items are more like if you were playing a TCG and, instead of building your own decks, each player was assigned a random precon. Which is a lot of fun! But it shouldn't be considered more "valid" than the more competitively pure version of the game.

Hopefully they remove the incredibly broken auto ledge grab in Brawl so it could be more useful for edge guarding.

I don't know whether or not the Mario series will get anymore new reps in Smash now that Rosalina is in, and if it does then the character might end up unlockable. Still, I maintain that aside from Paper Mario, Toad remains the best choice for a Mario series rep. Freaking Luma got a more important role in Smash than Toad, so the idea that "Toad isn't a fighter!" can die now that we see a cute little star person who cries and calls out for mommy put on some angry eyes and beat the crap out of people.

I've seen people do some amazing things with it in Brawl. Still I hope it becomes even more useful.
I've never had strong feelings either way toward Rosalina because of her design. It's just so boring and too Peachy for me. But seeing how Sakurai has included Galaxy's second player Luma, the star bits, gravity, spinning star, and the wii mote aesthetic The design behind her gameplay mechanics is just astounding to say the least! She truly deserves in.
Often times I see move sets posted for characters and more often than not they are just fairly generic moves inspired by that characters games. This however, just like the Villager is on an entirely different level of creativity.
I wonder if Sakurai has any social or sanitary issues. He's gotta be deficient some where to be such a creative genius.
I clearly knew this reveal was happening, I saw sakurai's computer since we're pals. I know the entire roster now.

Haha yes, and I suppose the inclusion of this ability of hers does in fact diminish my "items on" argument. Still fun though!
I don't know about all that. Looks like a good ability, but it also looks like she's really open while doing it (unless it also blocks direct attacks).
Huh, props to Nintendo for recognizing one of their most quality game series of all time.
She looks really interesting because she can constantly attack from two directions, and I'm hoping she's a heavyweight.
She sort of plays like a combo of Ice Climbers and Olimar, except she's also her own special star. She can summon Lumas, but it appears they have their own special moves separate from hers, whereas Nana & Popo always do the same attacks (unless you desync them, hope desyncing is still in).

Why would Chibi-Robo have to replace ROB? Why can't he be his own awesome character?
I don't remember her dress being iridescent like that.
Anyway, I'm happy with this addition. It isn't Waluigi like the more unrealistic part of me was hoping, but they've made her enough of an interesting fighter that I'm not bent up over it.
Now we get to wait 6 more months for another newcomer!

It also sets up a hilarious moment where she accidentally sucks up a bomb with some other items.
But R.O.B. is awesome and has one of the most fun playstyles in Brawl.
Plus, if R.O.B. is gone then we'll also miss out on Kirby's crazily cute imitation of him.

A Luma is Born!
I think that is Rosalina'sDown-SpecialNeutral-Special. My guess is that Rosalina's base attacks don't have a lot of range, and Luma will remedy that giving Rosalina a lot of range and versatility. And maybe using Down-B again will make the Luma go further away or come closer.

That is most definitely Rosalina's Up-Special (recovery). I think that it may be possible to use Luma to attack even though Rosalina can't do anything, but because she can't do anything and it seems Luma copies what Rosalina does, that theory is probably a bust.

Rosalina looks top tier to me.
+ Item Magnet neutral b
+ Luma partner that can attack a different area/enemy and desync with Rosie
+ An attack redirect of some kind (see Mario's FLUDD attack gif)
+ Good recovery
+ Luma can block attacks and save Rosie from grabs
+ Luma edgeguarding without putting Rosie at risk
- Probably pretty weak without Luma partner
- Probably low range or lack of versatility without Luma
- Luma is likely weak/easy to kill
- Slow Luma spawn animation
To me, that means, if you can get good at keeping the Luma alive, Rosalina will be a beast.

Awesome analysis. I get the feeling that if Rosalina combines these factors with her usual heavyweight status, she's going to be very high on the tier list. Think Ice Climbers with more survivability.
Or diverts projectiles into people behind her, lol
I'd almost bet that's a new item but it would probably be too much work to create a cat suit for every character

Looks like she attacks with her Forward Air attack after Luma launches, also I'd guess that the upward wand wave is her up tilt as opposed to the halo thing which seems to act as an up smash.
If you have a gif, you can add her Down Air as a Meteor Spike as well.
We've got a goldmine of footage for her. I'd have to really sit down to analyze everything, but I have a good gist from what we've seen.
Everything else you've said seems spot on though.

IntelliHeath pointed out a problem with the Luma Summoning and how I put it as a Neutral-Special. That would mean Kirby would also be able to do that, which is very unlikely. But we did see Kirby act friendly with Luma in the trailer.

Does anyone else wish that they would change Link's design to the one from Hyrule Warriors? Say what you will about the game, but the design for Link in that game is great! Hell to get it into Smash 4 it would only be some small edits to the existing model.

If you look closely, it seems like the upward wand wave has the glow/effect of a chargeable smash attack, where the ring does not. I'd say the ring is definitely the up tilt.
She definitely throws first, but when the Luma hits, you can see the up smash.
I was thinking the same thing. It's my favorite Adult Link design.
