hey fellas, i see a lot of non-playoff jibber jabber in the official playoffs thread, so i thought i would make this highly superior thread. who gives a shit about the playoffs this year anyways? not me thats for sure! lets talk about NEXT years playoffs and season, in which the niners will participate in both.

so far on the draft front analysts are pretty sure we will use the #1 pick, although they are divided on who we will pick. alex smith, aaron rodgers, antrel rolle, etc etc. i hope we trade down w/ the chargers to acquire 2 #1's. come on chargers, you can get the receiving threat you've always wanted! braylon edwards or mike williams! the choice is yours!

p.s. go niners!

don't you worry your pretty little head about what the "nobody niners" are doing. we're going to shock the world boyeeeeeee!*

*"Shock the world by not winning a game!" "shock the world by being even worse than last year" HA! you lose losers, i took your jokes in advance

p.s. we just hired mike mccarthy as our offensive coordinator. he is going to reinstall the west coast offense, and offense in which rattay posted a 100+ QB rating in two years ago. everything is coming up niners this offseason! :D

lol skip bayless pisses me off.

My dad always listening to KNBR 680, and that fool is always talkin shit about the niners whenever he is on it, like the entire time. Even when the niners were good, he talked shit. Hate that guy.

yeah i remember in the mooch era bayless would just talk non-stop shit about us. no matter HOW we won, he complained. we either didn't win by enough, or if we won in a blowout it was against a garbage team, or we were somehow (regardless of what we did) always shitty

Hey bay area people, I have been wondering, does anybody know who the niners are leaning to for their pick, is it Cedric Benson or Alex Smith, and please don't tell me there is a lot of talk about the overrated Aaron Rodgers...

i wouldn't be suprised if they traded down. I've heard people aren't all that impressed with Benson (doesn't have very good speed) and the niners have way too many holes to fill to just draft to take a gamble on a QB (and all the QBs so far, even Leinart if he declared, are gambles IMO).

i dont live in the bay area, but here are some facts about the draft:

* We won't be drafting cedric benson. to do that, we would have to get rid of Barlow. if we cut barlow, we owe him $18 million now (brilliant move you fucking joke Terry Donahue). if we can find a team to take him in a trade, we would be ok, but who is going to eat that salary?

* Nolan says we are going to use the first pick

* Mel Kiper has us picking alex smith, others aaron rodgers. aaron rodgers is a joke and a fraud

* not many people see us trading down because management has been so insistent that we're going to use the pick.

Wellington

BAAAALLLINNN'
GO CHARGERS! PUT OUR FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICK TO GOOD USE!

... mother fuckers....

At least we have a second and fourth round draft pick. :|

I dunno what holes we want to fill. Osi Umenyiora seems like he will be quite the replacement for Strahan when he retires. Gibril Wilson is only getting better as a safety, as are Will Allen and Will Peterson in the CB position. We could use a young solid LB, I guess. Other than that, Tiki and Mike Cloud will stick with us. Eli will obviously stick with us, as will Shockey. We got young receivers out the ass with Jamaar Taylor and David Tyree and that other guy who's name I forget. So yeah take an LB and an offensive lineman. :|

Its shit like this that makes me not pay attention to the team anymore. Fuck John York.

The Ravens will be out for blood (literally, perhaps) next season! Once our star player gets out of jail, we'll be ready to roll! 4 months of Heaven for Jamal, but at least Corey Fuller isn't going anywhere!

-- Baltimore Ravens cornerback Corey Fuller was acquitted Saturday of all three gambling and gun charges after being accused of running high-stakes card games at his house
..................

"It's not a game room," Smith said. "It's Casino Fuller, that's what it was."

Fuller acknowledged he was carrying a holstered gun when his house was raided last April 20. He acquired a concealed weapon permit after a shootout at his house earlier in the year.

Nice going you wascawly wabbit.

why fuck john york? it was donahue who was in charge of the contracts. i read an interview with york and he basically said he's going to stay out of personnel affairs from now on, and mike nolan is for all intents and purposes the top dog in regards to those decisions.

york realized he made a mistake with donahue. donahue was the one who convinced york to fire mooch. now why would donahue want mooch fired? oh right, because mooch was making a push for more power and personnel decision making... but isn't that the job of the GM (donahue)? yes, it is. donahue knew he was a fraud and didn't want mooch, who was 100123224 times more capable, taking his job. sucks for us, but give york credit. he got raped for $10 million out of pocket money JUST to get rid of erickson and donahue, he deserves credit for owning up to the mistakes of the past.

Potential draftees for Carolina with the 14th pick:

Jammal Brown, OT
Alex Barron, OT
Troy Williamson, WR
Heath Miller, TE
Elton Brown, OG
Thomas Davis, OLB

I doubt we get Barron or Miller (Apparantely the Titans and Lions are enamored with those two respectively). I'm guessing we'll pick up one of the Browns, Jammal or Elton. Scouts' Inc. @ ESPN thinks we'll take Williamson because it's unlikely that they'll keep Muhammad at his asking price ($35 mil including a $10 mil signing bonus for 5 years) and questions as to whether Ricky Proehl will retire or not which could leave us thin at WR (Steve Smith, Keary Colbert, and then it gets hazy from there. We do have Drew someone or another who we got out of Ohio State in the 5th round; he blew out his knee in training camp though, so we couldn't get a look at him). Also, there's a possiblity we nab a RB in case one falls in our lap because of questions about the durability of Davis and Foster.

Yeah, thats the truth.

I live in the Bay Area, and I've heard a couple interviews that Mike Nolan has had on the local sports station; it didnt really seem like he knew what he was going to do yet with his first round pick. I really think he is a smart guy and will make the right decision (or so i hope :\). He seems very capable of this unseemingly hard task he has to go through, i just hope the GM they get will be a good one.

Donahue should win the Prick of the year award. Why would he pay so much money to Kevan Barlow (who never really proved himself to be a #1 Running Back in this league), and made us keep him when we could've traded, or released him and got a much much better player for the money he is getting (18 million?) Gosh. Firing Maricucci was one of the other stupid ass mistakes this idiot made. Mooch was probably the best thing to come to the SF coaching staff since they left George Seifert go, and the idiot released him. Even though it was obvious that Mooch was trying to gain more power in the San Fransisco organization (take over Donahue's job) I think he would've done an infinite times better than Donahue ever did.

Who's the biggest impact safety or DE this years? That's probably who the Lions go after in the first. They go offense besides OL I'll scream.

Though I do hope they get Jason Campbell in the 2nd or Adrian McPherson in the 3rd. I can't take another season of Harrington.

Maybe we trade JH to San Fran for a #2/Julian Peterson. The Lions get defensive help, Niners get a franchise QB, and Champagne gets to go to the West Coast he loves so fukken much!

wait let me get this straight, we give you our best defesive player AND a 2nd round draft pick for a QB who would be no better than 2nd best on our roster (rattay is superior, i would argue that dorsey and pickett are better also)?? perhaps you could have tricked that dumb dyke terry donahue into it, but no longer. sorry nfl, you had your chance to make a mockery of the niners, now the empire strikes back!

Braylon Edwards or Mike Williams. I'm 95% sure they're gonna grab on of 'em. People are saying that Williams might fall out of the top 15 in the draft (shit I hope so, Panthers should nab him then) which is just absurd to me.

jokes on you bowser. i looked into MY crystal ball, and look what i see:

with the first pick in the 2005 NFL draft, the 49ers trade down to the Carolina Panthers for their first rounder this year, and Carolinas 2006 first round draft pick... wherever it may land. Carolina is now on the clock and they select... John Weinke, chris weinkes dad out of mount crest community college. John Weinke is a 45 year old sophmore, not unlike his joke of a son who was 28 years old when he graduated from FSU."

Yeah, I'd LOVE to see us get Williams. He didn't play football for a year? big deal. he was the best college WR in the nation a year ago. no reason to think he won't still be that good.

Pretty much! Yes Joey sucks an unbelievable amount of nutsack. But there has GOT to be some QB-starved team who thinks he was a victim of Maricuccis system and would give up something.

Besides Detroit's been eating your trash since 2001. Goddamnit you take some of ours.
(Hmm a 100 year old OC of the worst team in the league or a young up and comer? Why do I follow this team?)

yeah i was shocked to see you guys pass on mccarthy. what it came down to is mooch is essentially the offensive coordinator, he just wants a yes-man there to do as he says, and that yes-man is tedd tollner. i have to say i feel sorry for you, he is complete dog shit. our QB's actually REGRESSED with him coordinating

Yeah all we need is to sign Garcia and transformation is complete.

Let's see:

Marty - Was a failure.
Millen - Is a failure
Mariucci - Failing. Badly.
Tai Streets - Fukk him. The Michigan trash.
Tollner - HMM?

All this trying to steal identities and we STILL don't have cheerleaders.

Random Panthers notes:

• Common wisdom says the Carolina Panthers will use their first-round draft pick (14th overall) on a right tackle because that position was their most glaring weakness last season. That's entirely possible, but it's far from a certainty.

Some scouts and front-office people subscribe to the theory that only left tackles should be taken in the upper half of the first round.

With Florida State's Alex Barron and Oklahoma's Jammal Brown viewed as the only first-round tackle prospects, the Panthers could wait and address this spot later in the draft or in free agency.

If they do, look for the first-round pick to be used on a defensive tackle, running back, wide receiver or cornerback.

• What will the market for receiver Muhsin Muhammad be if the Panthers decide not to pay his $10 million roster bonus on March 2 and make him a free agent? Here are the thoughts of one NFC personnel director:

"He had a great year and you can't take that away from him. But I've never been a big Muhammad guy. He's getting older and you have to wonder if what he did last season was a fluke ... because of the circumstances with Steve Smith being out. Personally, I wouldn't give him big money. But somebody probably will, and they might end up getting conned."

I'm not even sure of the Redskins draft position, and I don't really care, but I'll say this: I really don't see them losing more than 3-4 games in the upcoming season. Arguably, they already have the best defense in the NFL, and with a lot of time to work in that Joe Gibbs offense, the only thing that awaits them is for the media to brand tke 'Skins as the next, great NFC dynasty.

...:lol :lol :lol

They win 9 games at the MAX next year. mediocre QBs and a RB that doesn't get used enough makes your team a loser.
I know all about that. We have a greta D here in Chicago(but hey, I'll admit the Skins' D is better), but the O will make them fail.
Unless you have a historical unit like the 2000 Ravens, D doesn't mean jack without a good offense.
I could see them making the play-offs in a still awful NFC, but looking for 12 games is absurd.

I'm just a tiny bit biased here, but I hope the Panthers get Williamson because he's a star in the making. He can flat-out fly and is very good at making adjustments without missing a beat. He averaged over 75 receiving yards per game in a run-first offense that used the QB as a glorified fullback. I'm heartbroken that he's not sticking around to destroy all USC single-season records in Spurrier's system, but I'd like to see him play at Eri^H^H^HBank of America Stadium.

i think the Skins have the 7th pick (or somewhere around there). Obviously, the need is on offense. We could use an Olineman, but getting Jansen back next season should be a huge boost in that area, and they'll do SOMETHING with chris Samuels. I think our best bet would be to take a biggame reciever that can spread the field (especially since i have heard that Gardner could be gone). I'd love to see Mike Williams or Braylon Edwards in a Redskins uni.

I think the 49ers are screwed with the first pick, unless someone completly wows everyone at the combine(like lets say Mike Williams runing a really fast 40 and shows no rust) the they will end up picking someone that's no better than the next 10 guys, but they'll have to pay first pick bucks.

They can't even trade down because the way it's looking right now no one will want to. Smith and Rodgers would be late first rounders any other year.

Also, this draft is packed with RB but most teams don't need RBs, I see Oakland and Arizona as the only teams who really need one.

Draft order:
1. San Francisco
2. Miami
3. Cleveland
4. Chicago
5. Tampa Bay
6. Tennessee
7. Oakland
8. Arizona
9. Washington

You can never be screwed with the first pick. Aarron Rogers is going to be an excellent QB, and will be well worth the number one if the 49ers elect to draft him there. The first pick also allows you to trade down several spots and pick up another considerable draft selection(s). Either way, the 49ers are sure to have the opportunity to select an impact player whom they desperately need to alter the makeup of their team.

Aaron Rodgers is coached by the same man who fooled everybody into thinking that Joey Harrington and Kyle Boller were great quarterbacks.

Somebody has to have learned the lesson here.

Garcia concluded the interview by fantasizing about a return to San Francisco, which recently hired Mike Nolan as coach.

"If [the Browns] decide to toss me aside, maybe I'll come ask coach Nolan if there's a position for me here," Garcia said. "Hell, I'll even play special teams."

:lol This is a great thread. Anyway, yeah, Bears draft is a little depressing for me. There's a lot of questions. The D was solid this past year but we're gonna need to really get this offense to find a groove. I think it starts with the o-line and the new offensive coordinator. I dream about what it would be like to have a good one of them for a whole year. But anyway, stuff I'm excited about.

Rex Grossman. He was starting to get real good before the injury. He was having trouble winning games at the end but he still was starting to play real well. Also, the defense, what they could do with a consistent offense. I mean, this has been but a dream in Chicago for years but I think we may be able to mix the two next year. On the draft, I'm really hoping we grab Mike Williams. The guy was amazing just a year ago. I was thinking WR's need time to adapt unless their something special, which we don't want to wait for anymore in Chicago, but I think Mike Williams is that. Hopefully the staff realizes that and grabs him.

Skip Bayless is the man, the perfect substitute host for The Jungle, especially when he talks about how my Canes won against the Suckeyes

You don't think that Miami, Chicago, and Tampa Bay could all use RBs? I hope my boys (Cadillac and Ronnie Brown) are both top 10 picks, and either one of them would be a better pick than Benson. In particular, I think that Ronnie will have the bigger pro career, with the potential to be a Priest/LT type of dual threat guy. Plus, both guys are as good of guys as you'll get, with both of them staying for their senior year and neither one of them ever complaining about sharing RB duties, which was a huge reason that Auburn went 13-0 last year. Did Benson ever show up in a big game for Texas? Not recently, at least.

Also, any team that gets Jason Campbell could really be getting a steal in the 2nd round. Another steal is the Jim Thorpe Award-winning Carlos Rogers, who is one of the top Corners in the draft (great cover guy, better tackler, good size, very smart).
