Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

Post reminds me, with Megaman in Smash, what are the chances of a Zero assist trophy that lightning loops someone mid match?
Unlikely, since Mega Man X and Mega Man are technically two different series. I think Roll would make a good Assist Trophy; she could sweep items (and characters) off of the stage with her broom.

Yeah Dillon is awesome as well as his universe in general.

Also Link is a Samus clone. B move is a charged projectile. Side B is an extended projectile. Down B involves bombs. Up B involves spinning!

Anyway I am laughing at the fact that people view Smash outside the character level and more as a franchise level, forgetting how characters matter and how they resonate with the fans rather than how "franchises" react. That talk feels more like an investor's talk than anything else.

Yeah because clearly older games will have new mechanics found in the new mechanics right? Right?

Also Star Fox didn't brought in new music right? Except for that a bunch of songs like say... Area 6, Area 6 Remix, Star Wolf theme, nearly many SNES Star Fox music, and some taken from Assault. They didn't bring music at all!

But nope, Victory Themes have more factor than the music from the games which are newly composed!
you know im a huge starfox fan, but didnt find assault music that great outside like 2 tracks, one being starwolf jazz version ofcourse, but I was watching some video that used music from assault, and you know I appreciated alot more than I did in past

Didn't stop Sakurai from pulling Shadow out of nowhere for an assist trophy when most folks playing Brawl only cared about Sonic's Genesis years. :P

Roll'd be cool, but I'd love Zero just for the troll.

smash is coming out in late summer at the latest, the game has already been in development for more than 2 years

With all this "no one can guess Sakurai's mind" I wonder if it's time he put in a staple from a long running Nintendo series that is huge and yet has no representation.

I'm talking about a character from Smash Bros. to be playable!

I'll place my bets on Sandbag or Master Hand. The only staples of the series besides the fighting [whatevers].

So outside of megaman so far we are doing pretty bad at predicting newcomers. awesome.

People seem to mistake characters they want with characters that actually have a good chance of getting in. Every 1st party newcomer so far introduces a character that debuted after the year 2000. Bear in mind that a large portion of people who will play this game were born after that year as well. I was 10 when Melee released, for instance. Take into account the characters that are more likely to be wanted, or at least known, by a 12-14 year old and I think you'll arrive at something much closer to what the roster will be.

It is with that taken into account that I think Mewtwo is likely to return, Mii is pretty much guaranteed, Bowser Jr. is more likely than Waluigi, a 2nd Sonic character isn't outside the realm of possibilities, and Ridley is pretty unlikely.

Next NEWCOMER will be Waluigi. I'd avatar bet on that, but I don't trust any of you.

plus obviously i have insider scoop so 100% accuracy means nobody will challenge me

that would be hilariously dumb

but this is Nintendo, so I dunno could happen

Why would that be dumb? Isn't the best time to promote a game around the time of release?

If it comes out near the holidays the game will be fresh in the public's mind and potentially be more likely to convince them to get a WiiU.

What about "Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 4: Is it E3 Yet?" ?

It would work very well for Thread #5 since it probably would last until E3. Thread 4 might start at Jan and end at somewhen in March or April.

That should be the title for a wii-u thread

Actually 3DS and Wii U would be together for OT since they are almost same game but only difference between the version is stages for now.

you're not very good with sarcasm are you

You play the "insider info" role so often that I have trouble believing you're just joking. And I think the joke got old long ago if you are joking, so I'd be wary to follow your advice on humor. Is the tag also sarcastic?

Anyway, I'd rather not shit up the thread so I'm dropping it.

Do we know if the two versions are releasing at the same time? If not, part of me thinks they'll release Smash for Wii U first--probably very soon after E3--then save the 3DS version for their holidays. That's what they should do, anyway, since that would drive the sales of the Wii U itself. Didn't Sakurai mention in his developer direct that the Wii U version was much further along than the 3DS? That may be evident to their scheduled plans.

EDIT:

Who is (or has the most potential to be) the most mind-gamey among Snake, the Links, Olimar, Ice Climbers and Rosalina?

Snake and Link take the cake in that list, I think, mostly due to their overall utility and diversity in approach. Passive map control ala bombs and mines are also useful. Too bad Link has always been a lackluster character in general, otherwise we'd see a lot of neat plays in the competitive scene. (Even then, we had guys like Germ and Aniki in SSBM who pulled some amazing stuff with him.) Still, I'll have to wait and see exactly what Rosalina brings to the table. She certainly has potential, to say the least.

Yes his tag is a sarcastic warning lol.

I can't wait to play as Zelda, she looks so fierce in this game

I'm just going to go to bed before I resent my decision to have stayed up reading a thread dedicated to schoolyard speculation of a game made for children.

I think the prediction thread may have turned into a semi wishlist thread at times lol. You have a point about characters being from more recent games having a better chance but I think some of us feel that way anyways. I also feel those recent titles should be where we get most of the characters with maybe one or two retro surprise characters as homage. I just find it interesting how unpredictable Sakurai can be at times even with a larger sample size.

Out of the movesets we've seen, I am most excited to try out Rosalina's. I think she could really be devastating once you learn to juggle between her and Luma. It seems to me that you can switch control between both of them at will and effectively play as two characters in a match.

I want to see Ganondorf ride Expresso.

The idea of temporarily controlling an assist trophy seems fun to me.
