you must recreate the entire Smash Bros. game. You can only fit five stages and ten characters (Transformations like Shiek only count as one, and you're only allowed a max of three transformations per character) into the game before you must release it.

GAF are one. We are Sakurai. The component once known as Toxi desires the characters Samus, Ridley, Dark Samus, Mother Brain, Kraid, Rundas, U-Mos, Nightmare, Anthony "Remember me" Higgs, and Sylux. He also desires the stages Sanctuary Fortress, Norfair, TRO, Phendrana Drifts, and the ghost ship. Fortunately, the rest of Sakurai is able to keep him in check and stop him from constructing his Metroid fanfiction.

The component once known as Toxi might be considered an unwieldy component of the Sakurai hivemind. He should be prepared for extraction and replacement by more Kirby components.

I think Zoroark would be cool. But only as an addition to Mewtwo's return. I can do without Lucario (although I have no problem with him).

Saying that the reason Mewtwo/Roy/etc. are on the Brawl disc is due to Melee leftovers and were never planned doesn't make sense in light of the data for unused newcomers.

It all started a long time ago when someone claimed Lucario replaced Mewtwo and is a Mewtwo clone despite only having one move that shares the same properties. And then people don't know that Lucario is quite popular.

Zoroark isn't pitted up against Mewtwo, only Lucario because it seemed like Zoroark is attempting to emulate Lucario's popularity, "debut in a movie before its gen even starts". While I agree with the sentiment that Zoroark failed as an attempt to be popular like Lucario, I'm not really sure if it's main "gimmick", which is to transform into the last Pokemon in the party when it is summoned, would even translate well to Smash.

Even though it wasn't in the games, in the anime, Lucario has the aura "gimmick" which Sakurai translated into Smash in an interesting way.

They all seem to fight in different ways. I was imagining Zoroark having attacks that are illusions, as well as a Shang Tsung-like ability to become the opponent for a while.

Also, the aura mechanic is stupid and needs to be fixed in the next game if Lucario does return.

It's because they fit the same visual appeal. Standing on their legs, shooting blasts and being a visually different kind of Pokemon from the Pikachu, who's an easily obtainable Pokemon who walks on all fours. The others are special, movie starring Pokemon who are usually more powerful than most of the others.

I haven't seen the movie, so I didn't know Zoroark fought so similarly to the other two. I just imagined it clawed and scratched like a dog. Hmm... The obvious solution is to add Deoxys!

Character select screen/roster prediction time!

The empty boxes will fill in as more characters are revealed. I'm mainly posting this because most of the rosters I see follow the series placement of Brawl's select screen, which is unlikely since each of the three Smash Bros. games to date have had completely different layouts. I really like the idea of Mario, Link, Kirby, and Pikachu forming the "core" of the select screen with the guest characters scattered to the corners.

It remains to be seen of course, but if the 3DS version ends up being considered a downgrade to the Wii U version, I don't think we'll see people flocking to it.

And I'm skeptical that any game could be the reversal of fortune that Wii U seeks, but I suppose Smash has the best chance after Mario Kart.

I feel like Mega Evolution is too specific a mechanic to give to two different characters. If I had to pick between Lucario and Mewtwo, I'd go with Mewtwo. Mega Mewtwo is the closest thing X/Y has to a mascot. It was the first "new" Pokémon revealed and starred in the latest movie.

Handheld Smash is uncharted territory, and if they can't sell Wii U's on the promise of Smash Bros, consumers may just be uninterested entirely.

Also if Sakurai is worried about showing skin for Bayo they could just make it so that when she uses her attacks her clothes don't disappear, it's as simple as that. Also as far as guns go they could either make them laser guns or just not have her use them, I feel like she has enough potential for a move set without the guns.

One thing I could see them doing is axing Squirtle and Ivysaur and just having Red & Charizard, based off Pokémon Origins and with Mega Charizard X as the Final Smash, while Mewtwo (based off the one from the Genesect movie) has Mega Mewtwo Y.

Something to maybe keep in mind is that, with the exception of Genesect movie Mewtwo, Mega Evolution is activated by a Pokémon's trainer, which could be a problem for Lucario unless they have Korrina stand in the background or something. Or they could just not give a shit.

I assumed Nintendo publishing W101 meant they got ownership of the IP but I'm not sure on that. Also Bayo's four guns ARE her defining character trait along with hair monsters/powers. If neither are in, its a disrespect to the character and I think Sakurai would just leave her out entirely.

I think they would base her entire move set around her hair powers, but just make it so when she uses them her clothes don't go away.

I've always considered Charizard to be a heavyweight especially when it isn't flying. Dude needs to shed some of that belly.
