Fair enough. I appreciate you responding in a mature way. I don't mind how you view Peach's and Rosalina's design on the first part, you explained your point nicely.
Actually, it's not due to that, it's just what they use in the game. This is Pikapika in X&Y.
Looks MUCH better. I can see the head depth and facial features this way as well as the eyes and mouth not looking like stickers.
If I may talk a bit more about it. Like Juri in street fighter 4 I have allways found Mario and Luwiggie's official art to be a bit... i suppose bland. ( outside of the Mario and Luigi RPG series, and Paper mario). And I always found them to look a bit weird next to the princesses, and not weird in a good way. I always enjoyed the WELL DONE ( i believe enphisis on this ) unofficial art of them ( eastern art in particular, its what influences me when I wish to draw them. I find it when they lank them out a bit more and humanize them a tiny bit more I find them much more visually pleasing.

It might just be X/Y but I am pretty sure Pikachu has gotten lankier and skinner over time, and that has actually been a big complaint for some fans. Because they liked Fat and short mousy pikachu.

I mean the models in Smash and X/Y look almost the same to me. Smash obviously has more vibrant colors, but both their faces look like flat textures probably so it is more cartoony and not creepy. Smash Pikachu might be a bit longer to account for animations but just barely.

It's called design refinement.
It's like people wanted Mario to look like his N64 model in today's games.
Those people exist, and i find the notion odd.
Why isn't big head Mario 64 Bowser in this game? Way to drop the ball Nintendo. Oh, and Kirby isn't round enough. Back to the drawing board.

Kirby Super Star Ultra came out about 8 months after Brawl's japanese release.
Sakurai hasn't been involved with any of the Kirby games since Air Ride.
Who knows when the team had planned that. Kirby Ultra Star's Dedede could've been in the works before, after, or during Brawl's Dedede development.

Sakurai could have dropped by and saw that dedede, thought it was a boss idea, and implemented it.
Also while I have no idea how he feels about the anime, anime dedede had some crazy ass hammers.
I didn't know anyone else liked the English dub!

I'd love to keep talking about the 2 good 4Kids dubs, I don't wish to derail the thread further than...nvm it's weekend SmashGAF.
Considering Sakurai invents new attacks and weapons whenever he feels like it (ZSS's whip, Pit's dual blades, R.O.B.'s everything, and so on), I think it's most likely that he gave Dedede the mechanized hammer simply because he wanted to (and couldn't think of anything else for his down special). Also, being the creator of Dedede sort of gives him free reign to do whatever he wants with the character.

I hope Jiggs get a new Finash Smash this time around, maybe one of it's fairy type moves (Disarming Voice, Dazzling Gleam?)
Kind of disappointing that Jiggypuff doesn't get Moonblast.

Not only has he become skinnier, but I also feel like he looks a lot dimmer and lazier in the old model. Maybe they wanted to reflect that it's supposed to be a quick little thing.

I agree on the right one being better. And yeah the former looks slow and really... "generic".
The former is actually a pretty common "design shape" back in the 90's where round mons are a common fare for "cute" in stuff like Tamagotchi, Monster Rancher, and hell even non-mon shows like Mojacko and Hamtaro.
Over time they made it so that Pikachu would look less "common" and now has a distinct shape and form. And besides, Pikachu isn't meant to be a hamster anyway.
Ahh. Well I hope he cheers us with a Xmas gift!

Well, about Kirby.. He's now too pink, eyes are too big..
I prefer this Kirby honestly, or if they could inject a little bit of his old self into the new one, that'd be great.
