Super Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS Thread 4: New Year, Old Arguments

I'm definitely getting both Day one. It's hard to say which one I want more because that depends on the features and modes that will be exclusive to each version, but I'm leaning towards the 3DS version. The 3DS seems to have the cooler stages thus far, but that might change when I play them. HD Smash is great and all, but I love the art style of the 3DS version.

Also, I'm a university student that takes two buses to get to classes so having Smash Bros on the go is going to be amazing.

Sort of off to the side, but I've always thought it'd be cool to have an "Indie Game" Smash - there's already a lot of crossover among a lot of devs character-wise. It'd be cool to see Super Meat Boy vs. Captain Video vs. Fez Guy or what have you.

Also a Valve Smash but that's even further off track.

That'd be pretty interesting, it'd give us PC players a smash styled game.

Modding would be a breeze, too.

Both of those are things that I've considered in the past, moreso the indie one.

If the CG trailers weren't handled internally, it might have been faster to develop them separately from the in-game assets, without needing to wait for them to finish the stage, and so they don't match up.

It's likely one of the reasons they went with generic backgrounds in SSE too. The only real location there was the Halberd and it was also one of the earliest game assets finished, after all. They likely designed most of them separately from the main game, without one delaying the other much. I guess Sakurai didn't trust SSE's stage and background designers in adapting known Nintendo areas on their own (It's been a long time, but I remember reading the credits for the SSE specific staff for stage design and such, and it seemed almost all of it had been outsourced).
