The Shoko stuff is really bad this week, but I enjoyed the L-Elf x Haruto stuff. It also contextualizes the reason behind the foundation of the Galactic Empire, as well as the catchphrase the show has been using since the start - "Valvrave is the system which will reveal the truth of the world."

With only 2 episodes to go though, I can't really see it concluding neatly. Maybe there really is a movie coming after all?

Almost deliciously bad. I can't tell if they're just trying to make her hateful or what, but it's hilarious.

Why the hell did Shoko need a visual affirmation in video form that Haruto was out in the battlefield busting his fucking balls for her. Like... what the hell? Did the writers just suddenly lose all intelligence and gave up writing Shoko to be a somewhat decent and consistent character? The fuck?

I'll wait.

Hmm if Liseolte (or however you spell her name) was a Magius, how did she age? She's clearly older than she was in the flashbacks with L-Elf. Or was the girl that L-Elf rescued taken over by a Magius later on? And if so why doesn't L-Elf realize that?

The magius are like ghosts or spectres or something and they just inhabit human bodies. The bodies still age, the magius itself doesn't.

The skyrocketing EruHaru levels made this really interesting and intense. Moon scenes with the feelings coming out to eventually declaring their final real wishes was good progress and development to position us for some ending. Final four minutes were worth rewatching again and again.

I didnt think Haruto's rune levels were THAT low that he had to make those claims though. He ought to still have quite a few if the last scene with saw him lose it was just the cave memory back when they were really young

Yep. The actual Liselotte was swapped in an old body when she was very young (you can see it in a flashback) and probably died off somewhere soon after. L-Elf never met her, he only knew the Magius-posessed Liselotte.

BLITZENDEGEN!

akiras brother "EAT ME IF YOU WANT was lol. it was also pretty neat to see thunder attaching inuzukas shield to his unit in place of the arm he was missing. although as soon as he got even a little screen time/development i knew he was a goner. so to see q-vier take him out wasnt surprising. speaking of that little psycho, i thought it was hilarious to see l-elf, a-drei, and x-eins teaming up WITHOUT him.

AND L ELF!!!! EXPOSING THE TRUTH! that was totally bad ass, especially with the music accompanying it. well now, with one last episode, and haruto losing memories of shoko at a super fast pace, i really dont think he will make it out of the fight with cain. sure he will most likely win it, but most likely at the cost of his own life.

still want to know who knocked up my girl saki tho.

Episode 23

They're going with a pretty predictable and somewhat boring way of resolving the series, but the action was still pretty good, and it had some really yummy character moments. This one in particular made it all worthwhile:

That scene lives up to my expectations of awesomely ridiculous and/or ridiculously awesome, so all's fine in the world.

That was fun. Hoping for a last-minute twist at the end with Cain, but wrapping up in a more predictable fashion would be fine.

Shoko really needed to die back in episode two.

If Shoko actually died in ep1, she wouldn't have been able to derail L-Elf's plan to lead the Module as a military rebel nation, and everyone would probably have won the war by the end of season 1.

Shoko is really the worst!

Another great episode. Man this show did the biggest 180 I've ever seen in anime. The first season was straight up ridiculous and now the second season is full of drama and plot points unraveling, making it really legit. I'm actually gonna miss this anime....

I love Valvrave, but the mecha design in the show is truly hideous. The designs are not just ugly, but they showcase the most overindulgent examples of trying to make complex designs "cool" without any logical thought.

The final boss mech shown here is a great example of EVERYTHING wrong with the thought process behind the design in the show:
- Each hand has TEN fingers
- There are FOUR extra mini-arms at the crotch area
- Each mini-arm is holding a secret DAGGER
- There are FOUR extra limb things attached to the two main arms
- Bunch of random crap all over the mech to make it seem more detailed

*BARF*

Valvrave's version of funnels

Saki comes back and the quality of the show jumps up. Coincidence? I think not.
Action and pacing were on point and that ending was great.

Shoko is the damn Nina Purpleton of Valvrave.

BLITZENDEGEN!

Epispde 23

Q-vier was amazing
when he just put that shield out then did the little jump with his lags and blasted through the whole, Incredible

What, the daggers are so cool. Imagine if it could have swords even.

It's quite weird-looking, but this sort of thing reminds me of certain "Final Boss" designs from JRPGs.

Apparently there's also a theory that maybe it can split up into multiple smaller robots or something.

you are wrong about everything

this is VVV and everything you described about this design is the embodiment of this show

The finale is supposed to stream in about 6 hours. But we all know that's not going to happen. Let's take bets on how long the delay will be this week instead!

I've just found out about this series (though it seems to be ending soon), while looking around. I'm a big fan of mecha, but I haven't watched many shows with them -- mostly Gurren Lagann and Pacific Rim, which I both loved, though I'm planning to watch more shows with friends.

Is this show worth watching? The premise seems interesting, but I don't know much else about the series. Recommend me some good points about it.

I feel like It knows it's stupid action, and it doesn't pretend to be otherwise, unlike Guilty Crown. Just enough plots to get going, silly plots, but characters behave almost consistent (fuck Shoko). Give me Aquarion's vibe.

So what really is the reason for the delay 4(5?) weeks in a row?

Are they purposely sending the episode late to the translators or something?

I'd actually say the Valvrave finale was kind of mediocre, in terms of lacking enough surprises to make it exciting, but more or less being what I expected to see.

There was some nice action involved though nothing really special. Most of the loose ends were connected to the future setting, which they only tangentially addressed, but the present stuff was almost too predictable in its resolution.
So long, Haruto! It's not like we couldn't already tell you were going to lose memories and die or anything!
You could argue it was a fitting way to conclude a specific season yet not quite satisfying as the ultimate series finale.

The episode had some good scenes and decent one-liners, but in the end this ride ended with a bit of a whimper rather than a standing ovation.

Most of it was fun though, so perhaps I shouldn't be so stingy at this time.

Most of the present story was resolved, but it was just... boring. No surprising twists or developments. The battle was well animated, but it really shouldn't have taken most of the episode.

Large parts of the future stuff weren't addressed, even some basic information that seemed like it'd obviously explained (
like the empire's actual founder, the identity of the "prince", the changes to the Valvraves and the golden seven
) remained unexplained.

Final episode

That was... strangely conclusive. Not the best ending ever, but I feel they did a really impressive job tying all the loose ends in those last two episodes and especially this one, even if the end montage DID feel a bit rushed and we still don't know that much about the future... But nothing asks for it really, I guess.

It's too bad though, I wanted them to do a 3 season or something to go a bit slower... I guess the sales are too bad to warrant that.

edit > Scratch that, after a few minutes it's starting to sink into me that i'm just deluding myself :(

Anywhere I can watch this (with subs) other than hulu? I'm out of town and on my phone and I have ad blocking software installed on my phone so hulu doesn't work. I can make it through the first segment but once the commercials come on, I can't go further.

Edit: I found a link to watch it

Episode 24 – Revolution to the Future

Probably my favorite line of dialogue in the episode as well was L-elfs line
he was my friend there when Haruto runes were depleted
Mixed feeling overall on things as it just felt like there could have been more pomp and circumstance, bells and whistles, and just like even the Golden Harakiri Blade ought to have been used. But it was still fun and intense though questionable in the writing department for me.
Did Haruto really need to leak all those runes in such fast succession when past episodes he didnt? And Q-vier, seriously? That was just so sudden and he was such a good character in terms of skills and personality, that just came out of nowhere and was so saddening

Hopefully the son is from a mixing of the genetic material from Haruto having Bodyjacked L-elf and some of it remaining when he was in him those multiple times.

Will definitely buy when Aniplex USA releases it here, hopefully on BD and dub. In my top three mech after Fafner. Gundam Wing/Star Driver.
