So that last episode...
freakin aliens
This episode was more of a "...huh...OK" kind of end I guess. Still liked the show overall. Or maybe I'm just too distracted by the fighting robots and neon particles everywhere in almost every episode to care too much about the other details of the show.

Ended predictably, and they didn't give all the answers, but . . . it was okay.
Asides from QUEEN SHOKO. Fuck Shoko.

That stupid speculation from episode five or so where people saw the shape of the enemy ship in the flash-forward and laughingly guessed that it was based on the pattern on
Shoko's shirt
is totes real now.

Still a lot of unresolved stuff, but I guess. I figured it wouldn't end in a satisfying manner with the way they paced these last couple of episodes.

That said, the scene where L-Elf tells Haruto that's he's his friend, was really awesome for me. I love that Saki pretty much loved Haruto till the end, unlike a certain someone
who should have died.
TAKE OFF THAT SUIT.

Still I needed much more closure.

Edit:

I'm not gonna lie, I kinda braced myself for a meh ending, but I'm just sitting here some minutes later and can't help but feel extremely disappointed. :/

And Q-vier, seriously? That was just so sudden and he was such a good character in terms of skills and personality, that just came out of nowhere and was so saddening

An appropriate warrior's death if you asked me. Q-vier fought and died not caring about the bigger picture. Everything he did in the show was motivated by the thrill of the fight. He even admitted the "no traitors left alive" was just another motivation to fight in the end, even if it's against a childhood friend.

I'd have been satisfied with the ending if
if "Shoko-chan" got what it deserved , a brutal death
. Last episode was really weak after everything that has happened.

also lol at L-Elf and A-Drei in the end
uh

So, wait....were all the students immortal? How did akiras brother survive as long as Saki? And what's with the aliens at the end? Golden seven? Who are the princes parents?

UGH!!!! I fucking hate when anime does this! Rush everything in the last episode and leave barely anything resolved. Is there no chance of an OVA or movie?

The best part of this episode was seeing Kriemhild in a dress. Some things were predictable like
Cain achieving nothing in his upgraded suit and Haruto dying, although I thought he'd at least have to manually activate golden mode somehow. Didn't Saki do that in one of those future scenes?

Man, that ending. WTF. What was with Shoko wearing that suit and.....aliens? Really? So we still don't know whose child it is, although with A-Drei catching the flowers may have been a hint. And from early on in the series in the future Saki fights someone, what were we supposed to get from that now that they really didn't answer any stuff from the future scenes.

Just saw the ending.
Shoko did not deserve to wear that suit
and Saki is far and away the best girl. It was nice to see things fall out of control for the students because it added a certain gravity to the situation, but they really went all out with the whole
alien/magius
madness. I felt it went downhill, but L-elf kept it somewhat exciting by telling the students to man up. Inuzuka and Yamada were da best. Those guys never needed a kick in the ass to get things done.

Well, the ending closed off the current story arc in a fairly predictable and standard way which, while fine and even effective in places really wasn't what I looked for out of Valvrave. It was far too normal and standard.

The epilogue really feels like
they had planned to actually tackle the future stuff properly in perhaps some other series but that's clearly not going to happen so they just quickly threw some stuff together.

Okay, I'm looking for a new anime series to watch. I watched the frist two episodes of season 1 as they aired and found them to be not my kind of thing. I like most of Sunrise Gundam (even some parts of Destiny!) and Code Geass, so is their any hope that I simply have to power through the opening? Any reason to return to the series now that it is concluded?

Welp, Shoko
didn't die, and ended up being immortal
?

Fuck that shit. Show went from a 8/10 to a 4/10 just cause of that. Think that's ridiculous? Sue me. It's not like the show doesn't deserve a 4 anyways.

Btw guys, is it just a dream to believe one day Sunrise will write a good story again? Other than Unicorn, their shit's been lacking for a long time.

Unicorn is bad too. Filled with too much lore garbage and headed by another boring Gundam protagonist.

Eh, it's not a trainwreck and at least is understandable. You can't really say that for any other Sunrise mech series for the last decade. 00 was okay at best too, but still.

Buddy Complex is up next for Sunrise, and looking at the PV's it's nothing special. Let's just hope it's at least as entertaining as VVV. BLITZENDEGEN!

Valvrave 24

This was a disappointing end to a disappointing 2nd half. The show ended up as something with a few moments of brilliance (mostly in the first half), but ultimately not as something that was very good. It worked much better when it was an insane roller coaster about a few main characters (especially L-Elf and Saki), when it tried to flesh out the back story, create some kind of mythos, or focus on side characters, the writing failed and the results were mostly boring and uninteresting. The magius stuff in particular was mostly just bad, and the teases about the future were a cheap gimmick that never paid off. It really doesn't deserve to be ranked next to something like Geass. Hopefully the franchise is done, because there's nothing worth continuing on from here.

Valvrave 24

Looks like duckroll's theory about
Saki marrying Akira's brother is disproven now. I suppose Akira and Saki are both godmothers for the prince.

I don't think the ending is that bad. I don't hate Shoko that much. I think they are one episode short of making a proper epilogue to the series though.

Episode 24 (End)

That really wasn't bad at all. I expected much worse after some of the reactions online lol. I think that clearly if they had another season or a movie to tie stuff up, it might have felt more conclusive, and the second season was definitely weaker than the first in some ways because of wasted time on less interesting stuff, but overall it worked.

Looks like most of the wild theories turned out to be wrong, but that's how it usually goes isn't it? Lol. I really liked some parts of the final fights. Some really nice detailing in the damage of the mechs. The epilogue was pretty conclusive too, and I think thematically it ended well. Probably not the insane over the top ending I was hoping for in some ways, but I appreciate the show being thematically consistent to the end.

That said, if they do make a movie about the actual formation of the Galactic Empire, I would totally watch it. :)

I don't think they're one episode short because the current epilogue actually ties together the story thematically (communication and acceptance and working together and what not). What's nearly missing is all the Galactic Empire stuff.

I mean,
Saki is fighting a war in 214, sometime after the flashforward with the 'young prince' in 211. It seems they very deliberately kept those timeframes separate to leave open the possiblity of more story. Most of the flashforwards in the second half of Valvrave are to a point before Saki's original flashforward in episode 7 and they only really feature characters explaining how the empire was formed.

Finale

I expected a not-so-good ending and still wound up disappointed. Action was fine and the
final Haruto/L-Elf moments
were good, but a few questions were left unanswered.
Who is the kids parents? What was up with Saki's previous flash forwards
?

And most importantly why is
Shoko not only still alive but wearing Haruto's suit
?

One last time guys.

I didn't dislike the ending. Aside from not having any of the crazy twists we've grown to expect of the series it at least felt really conclusive.

I really hate Shoko now though. Like I was kind of iffy on her the whole time but
wearing Haruto's flight suit
was the straw that broke the camel's back. You don't deserve to wear that. You bitch.

Overall I liked Valvrave.
Boku Janai, friends and Blitzendegen!

Hmm...I'm sold, I love stupid-but-amazing. I'll watch a few episodes and see if I like it.
Sorry, guys, but I watched a few eps and it didn't really engage me. Maybe I'll watch the full thing some day, but not now.

Killer opening and ending song, though.

It clearly sets up the sequel where Saki must battle a
insane Shoko who got turned into a host for those alien things at the end. In her dumb quest for solidarity and cosplaying she turns traitor to the pseudo-human race and triggers another intergalactic war. This is why the future-future Saki is battling the royal guard - Shoko must be stopped.
Or something.

You know, I don't think you're very fond of Shoko

Just marathon'd this series. Was bored last night and I wanted to watch something. Didn't really know anything about this show before going in. I enjoyed it. Lots of stuff unanswered about the flash fowards and stuff, but it was enjoyable.

Is there any possibility of a movie/ova/new season? What a weird way to end it. The ending wasn't that bad to me though.... Was surprised to see
Shoko wearing Haruto's suit. She really was super unlikable.
Wish there was at least one whole episode dedicated to an epilogue, but whatever.
I guess they are in a constant state of war or something so they actually went though with L-11's plan of rotating pilots whenever the new era started or whatever. Would explain why Akira's bro was still alive. I wonder who else became one of those kamitsuki things

So is that final shot suggesting they can imprint Haruto's memories into someone that pilots that thing?

Maybe they found a way to keep memories. Looking again at the final scene it looks like it isn't Haruto's memories, but Shokos. And they must've found a way to keep memories as Saki and Atsuki are recalling everything. I dunno. Really wish there was just one more episode. Even just 10 more minutes would have been nice.

I think you're reading too much into that last scene,
it was just that 'here is group photo, The End' thing to me

This was an utterly disappointing second season. There wasn't near enough comedy or shocking twists and they played it pretty straight all the way through. The future stuff is still left open but I'm not sure I care now that I know Shoko is still alive. It was a pretty conclusive ending but I'm still pretty underwhelmed especially when taken in context of how bland the 2nd season has been, other than episode 21. It definitely doesn't deserve to be anywhere near Code Geass unfortunately.

Haruto in the end was an awful lead in all the worst ways and
he should have been killed off much earlier in order to make way for L-Elf.
L-Elf got shit done at the end of the day.

Also whoever was mech designer for the series did an awful job. I really hate CGI mechs.

I don't get Shoko hate. Is this what's cool these days? :)

What I "liked" was that despite all the tropey talk about coexistence and tolerance, humans in the end slaughtered all the Magius without mercy (and a whole lot of other humans in the process as collateral damage). Now that I thought was pretty realistic.

My own take: watched it, found it entertaining.

Could have been much better and had some neat ideas, but who are we kidding, most anime writing is utterly horrible.

Welp, i'm late, but as someone who hated shoko just a little bit, that wasn't too bad.

Really enjoyed this show - finished it yesterday. Amazing animation, likable characters.

Ending bummed me out though...

EDIT: Really, Shoko hate? She was totally fine.

I kind of wish we had a sequel and with the manga winding down too no more valvrave franchise to enjoy :(

Will rewatch hopefully if it gets dubbed.
