nope

He only beat the record by 1 yard, but they mistakenly gave him passing yards on this backwards pass:

They adjust the stats after the games every week. No record.

You don't think they will just overlook this?

They took him out of the game after getting the record, so he could have done the record much better. Kind of a humble move by the team to say continuing the records does not really matter to us.

Then it shouldn't matter if they revise the game's stats and it removes the record.

I mean, I like that he got the record. But none of it matters if he doesn't get dat ring baby.

Well.. that and they were up 31 - 0 against one or the worst teams in the NFL, with first-place locked up in a meaningless game. SUre, Manning could have put on 30, 40, 50 more yards to the record, or he also could have gotten injured and Denver's Super Bowl ambition would be out the window.

its obviously going back. However, at the same time I would argue it's a screen pass and that shit happens all the time and nobody says anything.

Agreed, you could probably go back to Brees' record setting season and find a handful of completions that maybe weren't... or maybe a pass that was really an incompletion but they called it complete and it wasn't over turned, etc.

I know. I am a lifelong Broncos fan.

Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning die and go to heaven. They decide to watch MNF with God. First, God asks Brees, "What do you believe in?" Brees answers, "Well, I believe in family, hard work, and my Saints." God says to him, "Okay, sit here on my left." God next turns to Brady and asks, "What do you believe in?" Brady answers, "I believe in pegging, wearing Uggs, and trying my best every Sunday to impress Gisele." God says to him, "Good, sit here on my right." God then asks Peyton Manning, "What do you believe in?" Manning looks at God and says, "I believe you are in my seat."

hahaha....Courtesy of NFL GAF's greatest Chiefs fan.

I really became a fan of Peyton the last couple of years , so I really hope Denver wins the Super Bowl this year.

I still think Brady has some intangibles that make him better .

That would be garbage if they take away his record after the fact considering he sat out the 2nd half

Yeah if it was a down to the second thing at the end of the game it would be one thing, but does anyone think Fox would not have let Manning play a drive to get the record in the second half.

if he wins it all this year , he's outta top 5 and is top 3 cause he has 2 superbowl wins. As of right now though , he isnt on Montana and Bradys level. They get it done in the playoffs...well Montana dont lose in the SB brady has had some heartbreakers in the SB.

I'm definitely no Denver fan (Patriots fan here), but that's bull shit if so.

How is it bullshit when the following are facts?

- There is proof that they mistakenly added 7 yards to his total.

- Every week, they adjust game stats after the games.

It's bullshit if they give him the record when there is absolute proof he didn't get it.

Because Fox would have let him stay in for a few more plays to get the record. This was not a last second record he broke, he sat out an entire half. Unless you can say with a straight face that the Raiders could have held off the Bronco's offense to no passes the second half.

Good to see they are letting the record stand. It's the logical move, since had he ended the first half just 7 yards short, he'd of come out and got it in the 2nd half.

So much for your facts and get the fuck out of here with your asterisk. They reviewed and it was a forward pass. Butthurt much?

I'm a Pats fan and have no love for Manning or the Broncos, but he earned the record. If it was on the final play of the 4th quarter I'd agree with you, but he would have come back out and broken it by even more if it had been called right on the field.

Yes, but at what cost?

That's the first I'm seeing of the Blount high-five during the Pittsburgh game. Don't know how I've not seen it before, but it's hilarious.

That doesn't matter. It's not the "How many yards could someone have thrown for" record. It's about how many yards were actually thrown.

Brees sat out a lot the season he broke the record as well.

It definitely gets an asterisk when there is video proof that it was a backwards pass and the record wasn't broken.

The NFL just doesn't have much integrity.

Did you even look at the link? One video shows him behind Decker. They reviewed it. It's done son.

This thread is great. Can't believe people think Brady is in consideration for goat. Peyton, obviously. But Brady? LOL, no. He won a Super Bowl by cheating and got schooled twice by Peyton's little brother. Brady has played like utter shit this year too. The first half of the season was ugly. He picked it up a little in the second half, but I think this year has definitely hurt anyone's argument that he's the goat.

If they'd recorded it that way it's not like Manning wouldn't have gone out for a series and obliterated the record anyway.

It stands, we can all move on. Manning continues his quest to own pretty much every meaningful QB record possible
except most SB rings

He still led his team to 12 wins and a bye for the 4th year in a row.

They can rule it was a backwards pass when they rewind the game and give Manning another 30 minutes to break it. Usually a big fan of the asterisk, but the dude put up over 200 yards in the first half against the Raiders. He would have easily broken the record in the second half of the game.

Still didn't read the link I'm guessing. When you write your little record book you can put an asterisk next to it.

The pictures I posted prove it was a backwards pass.

Like I already said, it's about what actually happened - not what could have happened.

Should we also factor in the time Brees sat out in 2011?

Week 17 vs. Panthers
9:29 to play, backup QB Chase Daniels comes into the game

Week 15 vs. Minnesota
11:36 to go in the 4th quarter, backup QB Chase Daniels comes into the game

Week 7 vs. Colts
backup QB Chase Daniels plays entire 4th quarter

Just because you screenshot a couple of pictures doesn't prove anything. How do you know what angle that shot was taken? This is exactly the same thing as the music city miracle. I could take screenshots of that pass showing it was a forward pass but it was ruled a lateral.

And through every game in 2011 Chase Daniels had a total of 5 pass attempts for 29 yards total. So yeah, let's give that to Brees and let Peyton have his half of football back to try to beat that.

That time that Brees sat out and 5 passes were thrown would really change the record outcome this year.

If that's the way your brain operates, I'm actually surprised you can use a computer.

Really, your argument is embarrassing.
