Log Horizon is tolerable, but I don't get the high praise for it. The last couple of episodes seem to consist exclusively of that ninja girl getting mistaken for a child, Crusty and the Shiroe adusting their glasses every fucking line, and entire jokes being "lol Crusty/Shiroe is being manipulative hahahaha."

Anything is high fiction when compared to SAO.

I think I'd be doing the glasses emote all the damn time.

No it isn't, it feels like something a 14-year-old with too much time on his hands would come up with. If it was actually well written then it would be impressive.

Well obviously having the mental faculties of a 14-year-old is likely going to lead to some really bad storytelling predicated on a lack of understanding what human interaction even looks like. I was just saying that if a 14 year old came up with the groundwork for making something this successful (as bad as it might be) at that age, I think he deserves some credit.

He started putting it up online in 2002 or so. He was nearly thirty years old by then.
Huh. Well, all (little) sense of acclaim promptly deflated. His Wikipedia entry says he was born in 1974.

Because it's, compared to SAO, a more intellegent show. It's more reliable with adapting to the source inspiration of the Anime--which is an MMO. It personifies characters you think as expendable and meaningless with actual emotions (the main one being fear considering the current state of the show. It shows a protagonist that's powerful not through his strength, but through his ability to think. It's cast is colorful and isn't oppressed, one dimensional sex appeal.

For all of the people in LH it does a great job in giving everyone right now the perfect amount of spotlight

The real question is, is Toonami going to air this in 2015 or so?

... Considering they stated they're happy with the ratings, that sounds like a yes.

Its related.
See that girl with brown hair on the poster.

As I mentioned in the winter anime OT, the next arcs are supposedly decent. A lot of the hate here is mainly centered on that 2nd arc for ALO. GGO and Mother Theresa arcs are actually made out to be good. But go hate train anyway.

the first arc was supposedly decent as well.

it wasn't.

The first arc was also god awful. The pacing and writing was utter shit. The first episode alone could have cut the first 15 minutes and not affected anything.

It's nothing spectacular, but it's just above-average in about every area (except ironically the few action sequences it's had so far because they keep stopping to explain the game mechanics) and it's just really enjoyable to watch.

I look forward to each and every episode because I know I'm going to enjoy it.

I was told the first arc was good. That was a fucking lie. But the second arc so far is just worse.

It is literally the best MMO centered anime that's been released. Which is both good and sad.

Whoever posted that shit, if I see that sort of garbage posted again. Don't expect to be using your account for a while.

Oh fuck yeah! SAO is such a love to hate to love show. It's bad but so appealing. Now I just need season 2 of SnK...
among so many other things
.

Edit: Honestly, my favorite part about SAO is the reactions to how crazy it is. Gold.

Are Kirito and regular anime chick #2 still the stars? If so, there isn't enough NOPE on the internet to express my feelings.

That first episode was so promising too. It was like watching a train wreck in the middle of the ocean. You don't know how it happened, it came out of nowhere, and you couldn't do anything but accept it.

Everyone would be MUCH better off watching Accel World or Log Horizon. Hoping for a second season of both, even though LH is still going.

This is kinda confusing... but if I were to guess, some one posted some SAO ecchi or something?

Or are you just talking about SAO love-in threads in general?

I would be mildly interested if I didn't drop the show about 7 episodes in.

No amount of plot can make me go through that anyway.

A lot of hate for the anime :(. I really enjoyed it. Good action, decent soundtrack. I played wow a lot back in the day so it was easy to relate to.

all of the above head: Well for folks that did enjoy that first arc anyway, god knows the 2nd arc basically turned everyone off.

Started watching SAO, and could tolerate it for the first few eps. But good god, after that.. I've seen Log Horizon mentioned a few times now, so might check it out.

I can definitely see where people are coming from with their disdain for this anime. I completely agree with the criticism with how every girl who meets the main character somehow manages to fall in love with him, which makes 0 sense.

Apart from that, I feel this anime did a good job with how it implemented the virtual mmo into reality, not to mention the music is rather good as well.

There definitely are better animes but I think SAO accomplished what it set out to.

how? even after they spent an entire episode explaining the MMO itself the rules of it still came off as vague and unexplored.

And shit still came out of nowhere. Shining finger disintegration attack + power of love revival beads, anyone?

No, no it didn't. It explained useless things that didn't needs explaining and never explained anything of any importance.

Plus they completely ignored plot points that were set up that could have prevented the asspulls.

hell, i'd argue you could probably remove the MMO aspect and lose very little beyond a sprinkling of minor details.
