Three in January - New Year, new games from the Steam sale

The challenge is simple, complete three games in January. They can be games you started in December 2013, or December 1997, it doesn't matter, just get them done by February.

I really bit off more than I could chew last month with all of the family gatherings and friends coming into town, I only beat two games.
Who am I kidding? DayZ killed my progress on my backlog
Need to step it up this month, but going to lighten the work load with people going back to work and school.

Tools:

Backloggery
How Long to Beat
GAF Backlog Blitz Thread

Past Threads:

Four in December - Next-Gen has Started, Last-Gen Problems
Three in November - Race to the Finish
Three in October - The End is Nigh Edition
Three in September - Backlog Warrior
Four in August - Backlog Declassified
Five in July - The Ultimate Backlog Challenge
Four in June - Can You Handle The Backlog Heat?
Three in May - Backlog Returns 3D
Two in April. Destroyin' Backlogs HD Edition
Three in March. Destroyin' Backlogs One Thread at a Time
Four in February, take a bite out of your backlog

My List:

Last of Us (PS3) - Just picked up a new PS3 on Black Friday! Almost finished this one in December and I'm loving what I have played so shouldn't take me too much longer.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (PC) - Potential GOTY candidate, I hope to get this finished before the GAF voting process ends. Will make a nice change of pace game as well between the intensity of Last of Us and Last Light.

Metro: Last Light (PC) - Got this as a gift from the ever generous Xelios during the Autumn sale. Can't wait to get started as Metro 2033 was a great game. Potential GOTY candidate as well.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (PC) - Have been really feeling like a character action game recently, glad this one finally came out on Steam.

Seriously though, way too many good games to play. Not even counting my new PS3 or 3DS...

I'll be working 30+ hours a week along with full time college but I know one thing, I'll definitely beat Soul Sacrifice. I'm really looking forward to Brothers when it goes up on PS+. So those are my two titles for now.

Soul Sacrifice
Brothers
Borderlands 2

Edit: Just remembered I've been doing occasional coop with a friend in Borderlands 2 and we're over halfway done, so that's the third title.

I'll go with the following:

1. Persona 4 Golden - 34 hours in at the moment. Really loving this game since I missed out on the original when it came out on the PS2. I'm actually looking more forward to my second playthrough.

2. Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds - I'm right around 5 hours in. Excellent game.

3. Sonic: Lost Worlds - Rented this one from Gamefly.

Bonus Games for this month:

4. Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag - 23% so far. Took a break for a few weeks, but will most likely finish it up this month.

5. Super Mario 3D World - Haven't even started it yet. I keep getting sidetracked every time.

6. Ys: Memories of Celceta - Also not started. Girlfriend picked it up for me for Christmas. Really looking forward to it.

until the d-day on march 14th, there's some time to complete them games.

so, here's my list for january!

- The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing
- Murder in the Hotel Lisbon
- Limbo (Vita)

Bonus:

I got a 14 day trial ps+ code for europe and downloaded Remember Me. unfortunately, I can't figure out how the combo system works. anyway, there's like a week left to beat the game.

Ah screw it, I can finish three games this month.

Hotline Miami - in progress

Torchlight - in progress

Papers Please - in progress although I guess I technically finished it once when I went broke and got thrown in jail.

Killer is Dead[PS3]
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance[PS3]
Tom Clancy Splinter Cell: Blacklist[Wii U]

I have a bunch of 3DS games to get through as well but these are the ones I need done asap.

Just built a new PC. The hard drive is faulty, so I'm using a small backup hard drive. Hence the abundance of indie games. Here's the list:

Monaco
NightSky
Super Meat Boy

  • Bioshock Infinite
  • Hitman Absolution
  • Rayman Legends
  • Pokémon Y

That's my current "to-do" list... since I finished Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag today I need to finish two more this month. Could be possible...

I already finished Super Mario 3D World (well, I beat the final boss, I'll still continue playing the game to do all the extra levels and collect all the stars and stuff).

The other games I plan on finishing this month are:

  • Metal Gear Rising Revengeance (PC version)
  • Shadow Warrior

And maybe, maybe Bioshock Infinite. I played the first one and didn't like it and everything points me to believing I won't like this on either but I have it from a bundle so if I get bored I might still play it.

Finished so far:
  • Lume (1/1)
  • Shelter (1/1)
  • Alan Wake's American Nightmare (1/4)
  • Broken Age (Act 1) (1/16)
  • Persona 3 FES: The Answer (1/18)
  • Saints Row IV (1/19)
  • Scribblenauts Unlimited (1/20)
  • Super Sanctum TD (1/30)

Going to try to stick with this this year, going to stick with

DuckTales Remastered BEATEN
WWE 2K14 BEATEN
Pokemon X- Just restarted, already beat the first gym.

Should be a relatively easy month, I shudder to think about March-September this year, good god.

Kind of on a whim played through nearly all of 30 Years of Wrestlemania mode today, so I took Lego Marvel off.

I've seen these threads, but never participated. I'll post what I'm playing this month.

Currently playing right now:

The Last of Us - never really got into it when it came out, gonna try to finish it this week or next. Ended up really enjoying it, although the combat was sometimes a bit frustrating.

Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons - just started today, pretty cool game with unique controls. Doesn't seem too long so I'll probably finish soon. A nice short experience, was worth the 3 hours.

Link Between Worlds - I play handheld games in bursts, but I'm really enjoying it and it's likely I'll finish in a month. Absolutely loved it, one of my favorite Zeldas and games in recent years. Gorgeous art and design, great re-imagining of LTTP Hyrule and neat gameplay twist with the "any order" dungeons.

Is it bad that I don't think I can finish more than one game in a month?

No, nothing wrong with that. A lot of it depends on how much gaming time you have available and how long the games you play are. If you play lots of short indie games it's easy to beat a few in a month.

edit: I managed to finish all 3 last month. Added strikethroughs and impressions.

Here we go! My first time doing this:

-Europa Universalis IV: can't really beat this game, so I just want to put in as many hours as I paid for it ($10 = 10 hours), but I will probably put in way more

-Borderlands 2: just started this one so I don't know if I can beat it

-Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds: really gotta finish this one.

Ys: Memories of Celceta
Dead Rising 3
Ryse: Son of Rome

I'm going to keep it just at the thread's target goal, for now. I'm about to disappear into my cubicle at work for four months starting in the middle of January so I'll be lucky enough if I can finish these three games. Intense work gauntlet approaching. I'm at the final dungeon in Ys, shouldn't be too much longer. I'm still relatively early in Dead Rising 3, but I'm about halfway done my first playthrough of Ryse so I think it's doable.

Alright, going to go for a pretty easy month, since I know work's going to be ramping up after the holidays.

  1. Metro: Last Light
  2. BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea Episode 1
  3. DuckTales Remastered

Three games I have just started:

Deadpool
Beyond: 2 Souls
Puppeteer

Though I think I'll finish more those games this month. My backlog is full of games short as hell.

I like christmas, because it gives me some time to actually play through some games.

titles I've picked up and beat in the steam sales already are;
Brothers - this was great!
Spec Ops The Line - so was this!
Batman Arkham Oranges - loved it (but I like the Batman games formula)
I started on Max Payne 3, but it is awful, and I have buyers remorse - I'm not going back to it.

3 to beat will be;
1) Dust
2) Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea episode 1 Did this one first...
3) Bulletstorm before the death of GFWL makes it unplayable

Alright, here's a bunch of games I'd like to play. I'll probably add a few games depending on what I buy or just feel like playing.

  • Beyond: Two Souls (PS3)
  • Divinity: Dragon Commander (PC)
  • Ducktales Remastered (PS3)
  • Evoland (PC)
  • Kingdom Hearts (PS3)
  • Mark of the Ninja (PC)
  • New Little King's Story (Vita)
  • Papers, Please (PC)
  • Tomb Raider 2013 (PC)
  • Vanquish (PS3)
  • The Witcher 2 (PC)

Right now I'm playing New Little King's Story, Dragon Commander and Tomb Raider. Not exactly the greatest idea and it's slow progress but I can't stand playing NLKS for more than an hour or so at a time and I've already started the other two, so may as well continue them.

I've beaten two so far.

Batman Arkham Origins
Brothers a Tale of Two Sons

Gotta decide what will be the third game. Maybe Bioshock Infinite or Limbo

I just might be able to do it this month. Particularly since I already went through Ducktales today ;)

  • Ducktales (already completed)
  • Anodyne
  • Super Mario 3D World

Im just gonna play a ton of DMC4, so I guess my three in January would be Devil Hunter, Son of Sparda, and DMD.
I will never stop playing bloody palace

This month:

Tales of Xillia - Chapter 2
Star Ocean: The Last Hope International - Just started
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky - Just started

I think I should be able to to do this. My three for this month:

Bastion - about halfway through. Got 100% on 360 when it released. Doing steam now.

Bravely Default - 30 hours in. Love this game!

Borderlands 2 - playing co-op with my fiance, think we're about halfway done.

Damn it, I finished Assassin's Creed 2 on the 30th of December so it won't count. I'm currently going through the series so...

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
Assassin's Creed Revelations
Assassin's Creed 3

Don't burn yourself out! I think Brotherhood was the best game in the series. I also really enjoyed Revelations and AC3 so I'm not hating on those either!

You haven't beaten 3D World until you've beaten
