Just weird that it doesn't look right.
They'll surely fix it![]()
If it's intersecting the middle of her body then they've got it right. Looks fine to me.

If Ridley isn't too big, can we get Mother Brain? More females and all that. She can share parenting tips with Rosalina.
Mother Brain would only work if the game had no items, as she has no way to grab them.
The only way that Mother Brain would get in as a playable character would be in her walking form, which has hands.Mother Brain would only work if the game had no items, as she has no way to grab them.

Not that Mother Brain would ever get in as a playable character. She would make an amazing boss though.
Not Mother Brain, technically. A recreation based on Mother Brain, but not a clone or anything.![]()
Perfect Other M rep.
the android seems to be the right size to me...
Not that I want this form to be playable.

It's a crime that you haven't played Super Metroid.
i make a point to avoid popular games as they're usually terrible

Then why are you playing Smash?

I also enjoyed Other M, but I'm not a hardcore Metroid fan so the story and characterizations didn't bother me much. I thought it was a fun little game to play through.![]()
I was expecting some sort of hilarious B-move when I finally got into Other M in the past year and I was instead met with the most neutral, monotone game ever. Aside from laughing at the Varia Suit fiasco and, I feel absolutely nothing about it.getting pissed off when they didn't bother telling you to use the Power Bombs against the Queen Metroid DESPITE IT BEING REQUIRED
The weirdest Nintendo game I've ever played (aside from maybe Kirby's Dream Land 2).
It's not even the kind of terrible you can really laugh at (except maybe THE BABY)
What exactly does Other M contradict? I found its story to fit in well with the Metroid timeline and all. If anything, the Prime series is responsible for far more contradictions, yet they get a free pass from everyone. Why?Other M is just really terrible. It's not even the kind of terrible you can really laugh at (except maybe THE BABY), it's just genuinely bad. Samus is made into an object within her own story and is constantly bullied by the Mary Sue character we're supposed to look up to and like, which is even worse considering he was a genuinely great character in Fusion...
Oh, and the game directly contradicts practically every other Metroid game in the franchise. I have no idea how anyone could do that without deliberately trying, but here we are.
The only thing I really liked about Other M were the callback enemies and a few of the power ups. Using the Speed Booster and Shinespark in 3D was great, for instance.

The Prime games, just like Hunters are not part of the main series. They are set three years after the events of Metroid I, but their events aren't mentioned at all in the rest of the series. They are pretty much self-contained, without ANY influence on the series story. That's why they are free to contradict anything - they simply don't matter. What exactly does Other M contradict? It's mostly an easy target due to how much it is said (and how needlessly it is said) during the intro, combined with the metaphors with the subtlety of a brick thrown through a window. It's also easy to point to as one of the game's earliest warning signs of what was to come - Samus is suddenly given a mother complex and an obsession with The Baby with no reason other than she's a woman. Which is... well, not sexist in and of itself, but certainly problematic.I'm not gonna bother defending the game, but I never really got the joke surrounding the whole baby thing. She just says it maybe eight times in the opening cutscene and, uh, that's it.
Yeah, there's the symbolism throughout the story, I guess, but they're not made insanely obvious from what I remember so it's not like it's beating it into your head.
Let's see, off the top of my head...What exactly does Other M contradict? I found its story to fit in well with the Metroid timeline and all. If anything, the Prime series is responsible for far more contradictions, yet they get a free pass from everyone. Why?
Maybe the sports moves will go to Mii, but Darumeshi can still have the combover/pompadour moves!can confirm darumeshi sports shop is a really fucking weird game
you cut off the dog's combover and give him a pompadour to get discounts on videogames
also a sports-based moveset will most likely be taken by mii anyways
Other M was built around its story, the Prime games were mostly not. Other M invites all storyline criticism onto itself because it wears its story on its arm. Other M is also seen as responsible for the decanonization of the very well liked Prime games, so there's that too. What exactly does Other M contradict? Let's see, off the top of my head...
Samus' obsession with the baby Metroid makes zero sense if one considers how easily she handed it over to the Federation in Super Metroid. [You mean before it saved her life multiple times? The ending of Super Metroid probably affected how she thought of the Metroid]
Samus having a random mental breakdown over Ridley makes no sense when on considers that she has murdered him multiple times prior. [Makes sense when you read the manga]
Adam acts nothing like he does in Fusion, especially if the player considers the praise Samus heaps onto him in that game.
The opening cutscene flashback, and the game in general, nixes the Gravity Suit entirely as it was seen in Super Metroid. [Zero Mission nixes the potential of her own Power Suit, she needs to find an ancient version which somehow is better instead. It's called a retcon]
More importantly, the flashback completely negates every ounce of logic in Super's famous ending. In Other M, the metroid picks Samus up, hanging her in front of Mother Brain, completely vulnerable. In Super, the metroid shields Samus with its own body and dies for it.
In the beginning, Samus claims that Other M would be the first time she worked with the Federation since she turned bounty hunter, ignoring Prime 3. [Metroid Prime isn't canon]
How the Zebesians act in this game goes completely against their actions (or their ability to act at all) as seen in Zero Mission and the Prime games. [What exactly is your problem here? Seemed just fine to me. Crawling on walls and ceiling, generally agressive. If you think they're not smart enough - all creatures on the station are controlled by MB, their own intelligence is supressed (also Prime isn't canon)]
And we can just ignore how Samus acts completely in contradiction to how she acts in every other Metroid, as that one's too easy of a target.
I'd be curious to see what issues you have with the Prime series, as I feel it fits into the timeline a lot better than Other M does.At the very least it manages to exist without ruining every pre-existing character it touches.
Most of these "contradictions" are simply because the only stories in the games came from instruction manuals and Samus didn't act like anything until Fusion, and even then still barely. Also, Adam sucked in Fusion as well. Also, Prime games aren't canon.Let's see, off the top of my head...

I always assumed that was Wii Fit Trainer's shield.
Maybe the sports moves will go to Mii, but Darumeshi can still have the combover/pompadour moves!
She makes a giant shield and laughs when characters try to hit her?
...I want to see that happen now.
Sounds crazy enough to work! Darumeshi for Smash! (Even though I only learned of him in today's Steel Diver: Subwars thread!)man now i'm picturing some kind of weird moveset in which you have to negotiate with him how much damage you take from a move
i don't even know

And I don't even like Other M. It's linear, the excuse for weapon use is god awful, and it has some really, really bad design choices (find the pixel!).
But I think the problem most people have with Other M is that Samus went from a blank slate character to actually being a character, and it wasn't what a lot of people had built up in their minds. Though I wasn't surprised by it in the slightest since I had read the manga![]()
