This is getting f!@#$%^& ridiculous -- still no Wii

Cry more filthy pirate tears.

I didn't say anything about pirating, I simply said being able to run the games on my PC. Yes, emulators can do piracy, but that wasn't my point. Notice I mentioned "buying the games used".

Why the fuck would I buy a game if I'm a pirate?

That is not a solution to anything...

:lol Trust me, I know, I've spent enough time there. My brother's is from Texas though and he still had an easy time getting hold of one from Dallas. Either my family is freakin' lucky or... I don't know.

I personally know of two people who own Wiis, admit to never playing anything on it (or, "I haven't touched it since Zelda"), but refuse to sell it. If the system's just sitting there doing nothing, give it to someone who's still looking for one, i say.

So if you have buddies that have one but might have lost interest, try pestering them.

Before i bought mine last week, my best friend who moved to Thaildand for work, "gave" me his Wii since he probably wouldnt have the time to play it :D

MY WII MINE MINE MINE

Hey guys, the wii sucks and has no games and just sits there and collect dust etc., you should sell it off now. I'll do you a favour and take your's off your hands for $100, because I am that nice of a guy, you can thank me later.

Btw, it IS easier to get Wis now that the holidays are over. You still need to wait an hour or two to guarantee yourself when wiis are advertised on the Sunday newspaper or you can call in randomly throughout the week.

People who still expects to walk into any store and get one when they one to are still deluded.

I had to preorder my Wii a year and a half from FYE before launch day. That's the only way I ended up with mine.

I remember people on these boards making fun of some of us who waited in line for one hour to preorder our Wiis at Gamestop for launch day. Who's laughing now! The best part is I've barely played the system in forever :lol

I actually checked availability for the Navy Blue Enamel DS on Gamestop and nowhere to be found. Same thing on Amazon. FUCK NINTENDO

I won't buy any other color ;_;

Who started that quote on GAF? :lol
Glad I didn't listen to them and got one at launch.

One of these days I'm going to go through all the launch line-up threads and compile some great quotes.

yeah I waited in line to preorder it for an hour on a 70 degree day, then I walked in 10 minutes early and got the first one in Lafayette because my friend who worked there let me in first :lol

Any idea what the cost to the retailer is?
The lowest I've seen him get them is $218. The guy doesn't get them anywhere special, he's just really, really, really good at combining coupons, cashback, discounts and other ways of getting anything below retail.

I know the guy who owns those Wii :lol

Not personally but I've talked to him, asking for tips.

He can also get Wiis far below retail costs.

And then he turns around and sells them for $600?

I already have a Wii and I still think he's an asshole.

Yes.

He's an asshole to you but I figure(based on what I make and what I've read about him) that he probably makes over 20k a month doing this.

I'm just venting a little frustration out here. It's Feb. of 2008, and I still can't find a Wii for my niece. I'm seriously getting pissed off at Nintendo here. It's been plenty of time for them to take the fistfuls of cash they make to get new manufacturing plants up and running.
fly to Europe there you can find Wii´s everywhere^^

Everyone, and I do mean everyone, I know who's seen a wii on store shelves has bought it. Even if those who have bought it have only used it once or twice since, that is incredible marketing genius. Bravo Nintendo.

About one month after launch I was at Target and there just happened to be one Wii left at the end of the day. Needless to say I bought it and GTFO of there as fast as possible.

We've been getting a bunch of used ones, people are learning they bought a console for wii sports and 8 addon accessories and no games.

My Circuit City had 11 this morning. Didn't feel like getting up early so I showed up a half-hour before the store opened, and whaddayaknow, a nice long line. I just want to play smash goddammit!

Last Christmas I needed to buy a DS lite I didn't find one at the first store I went to. The clerk made it seem like they where impossible to find. But I kept looking. I found one at the third store I went to. And this was like on 24th of December. If you guys really need to get a Wii look at places like Cosco, BJ's, Toys R' US, CompUSA or even FYE, because your not gonna get one at Gamestop or EB games. Also ask them when their shipments are coming in and call them constantly.

Or they bought it thinking that rent and groceries weren't important, then learned the folly of their mistake. Most of my consoles have been in and out of pawn shops multiple times for this very reason.

Every time these threads show up it makes me glad that I got a Wii at launch. I didn't have to wait in no freakin line or anything, just got up around 11 and walked into a store at around 12.

I love my Wii, but outside of Mario Galaxy and Prime 3, you aren't missing much. The 360 and PS3 have much better lineups right now, IMO. I've been glued to a bunch of games on those two machines and haven't touched the Wii since I finished SMG.

I'm really hoping that the Wii doesn't continue the tradition of Nintendo consoles that only have great 1st party games, but few amazing 3rd party contributions.

IMO, the best way to get a Wii is to see who advertises it in their Sunday ad and go early to the store. A friend of mine had problems getting a Wii for his younger sister, so I told him to do it and it worked out (store sold out quickly, but it worked).

If you can get to a retail store during the middle of the week (Tuesday - Friday is usually good) around lunch time, you may see a Wii on the shelf (I've seen multiple Wii consoles on the shelf around then).

Thankfully I got a Wii for Christmas, but these are the two ways I find them or able to get one, if I did not have one (when not using ebay).

The best way is always to read sites like slickdeals.net or the itrackr message boards. Once reports of Gamestops getting them in is posted, call yours immediately. CALL ALL THE GAMESTOP STORES every hour from 10 to 3 pm. If nothing came that day, they are guaranteed to have them the next day or another day after, provided they never got theirs a day early.

That is, if you don't like waiting. Sundays are good, but everyone is also looking, and you have to wait a few hours to guarantee yourself one.
