As catches go, it's still a damn crazy good deal.
That's alright with me. 6 PPVs for the price of one and an entire back catalog to go along with it? I'm in..
I hope I can buy a 6 month WWE Network subscription card with sweet John Cena artwork.
This isn't a catch to me. I fully expected a year contract so i am good with this. Also on wwe.com they state you don't pay the full $60 up front and that $10 a month is taken out. That is even better!
So traditional WWE PPVs are finished right? Everything going forward will be on this app?

That's probably something way down the road for them. As of now they still exist. So traditional WWE PPVs are finished right? Everything going forward will be on this app?
It is probably been answered, but is this only PPV stuff (old and new)? Or are also we talking about the shows that used to air (like Raw and whatnot)?
No. According to the FAQ at wwe.com traditional PPV's will still be offered.
They are continuing, since that's a deal with the cable networks. But in time it will marginalize that business and drive more people to the Network. Buyrates will become less and less important. So traditional WWE PPVs are finished right? Everything going forward will be on this app?
They say 1,500 hours of content from their vault, but I'd like to know what exactly that is.
The UFC should be absolutely embarrassed by this value proposition. The WWE Network is taking a chance and casting a very wide net, while the UFC Fight Pass does nothing but squeeze pennies from a niche segment of their niche audience who will get up at 4:00 a.m. to watch jobbers fight in Jakarta to protect their dwindling pay-per-view business.
Vincent, the world's best promoter and huckster. Always and forever.

Well this is their tape library, the biggest, wrestling-wise, in the world:

So how can I get this in Canada? I know tons of people who have access to American Netflix. Can I do it legally?
That's kind of my point. They have literally thousands of hours of content. What exactly is making up that initial 1,500 hours.

Mostly old episodes of Livewire and Sunday Night Heat.

What does this mean for their YouTube channel?
Can you still call them Pay-Per-View?
Oh man this would be pretty freaking awesome!
$9.95 per month for all PPVs and every show ever broadcast, and since I live in Australia I probably won't see this made available until 2015. WWE are offering up a damn good deal.
For the time being, I don't see that happening. You'll likely still be able to purchase WWE PPV's for the normal price through cable and satellite providers.
Also, nice avatar. 813 fo lyfe.
23. Will WWE Network be available internationally?
Beginning Monday, February 24, WWE Network will only be available in the United States. WWE Network is scheduled to launch in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Nordics by the end of 2014/early 2015.
Shit. Hopefully Unblock-us can get that figured out soon after launch.
Their ultimate plan is to double their TV rights fees for their weekly shows, which they're negotiating for now, and use that to offset the loss in money from cannibalizing PPVs buyrates with the Network. Basically negate the loss while getting the big attraction of the Network at the same time. NASCAR just negotiated something like 6 billion dollar contract with the cable companies, and WWE want to get that kind of a contract (which would roughly double the base amount of money they make from their TV shows just airing at all).
It is definitely risky and relies on a lot, but if all goes well, it will be a huge success for them.
The 6 month commitment cycle is genius. With the Rumble, Mania, and Summerslam spaced how they are, there's no real incentive to cancel after any given 6 month period. I'll be paying for this indefinitely.
i need me some XFL content
I know they said their VOD content would be uncut and uncensored but will they be blurring out WWF logos?
They don't have to do that anymore.I know they said their VOD content would be uncut and uncensored but will they be blurring out WWF logos?
