incredible. the dialog, the shots, everything was so good. feels like such a deliberate and slow burn. matthew tore it up as usual. so pumped for the rest of the season!

Matthew McConaughey's performance is some trippy shit, it's honestly up there with Bryan Cranston's and James Gandolfini's respective performances. It's really early to be saying that, but McConaughey absolutely nails that character.

Yeah, it's awesome. I've never seen him act like this before. He's usually someone who's charismatic and approachable.

Yeah, super early to be saying that. But I can see him getting awards for this shit.

Wow, that was extremely impressive. Glad I watched it. I love a good slow burn. The acting is tremendous! Doesn't feel like you are watching a tv show.

Just watched episode 1. I expected the acting to be good, but both Harrelson and McConaughey were superb. There's so much mystery that I don't know how someone could not watch episode 2 next week!

I enjoyed it, cinematography was beautiful and I like a slow burn, but Rusts constant prattle of vague one liners and monologues already grew tiresome.

If his character is always like that, I don't know if this show is for me.

Fantastic opening episode. I'm already about as riveted as I was for the final seasons of Breaking Bad after only a single hour. Good stuff.

Yeah that was fantastic, didn't want it to end. They really hit the character writing out of the park for Marty and Rust. The cinematography was the icing on the cake.

I really liked it. Atmosphere was realized really well, Matt's performance is wow.

Really looking forward to watching this unfold.

Pagers lol

Amazing! I'm already feeling the anxiety of there only being 7 episodes left and knowing that Harrelson and McConaughey wont be back if there is a second season.

It was already announced that the series would be an anthology so every season will be a new story with new characters.

I wish they would go the American Horror Story route and do a new story but with the same actors. Loved the performances...and that was only the first episode.

It's very unlikely that they would've signed on for more than the eight episodes of S1 in any case, so I'm of the mind that it's great that they're on it for now. The alternative is longer arcs with the same characters and different actors in their roles. I think it's a reasonable tradeoff.

Completely bowled over. Amazing episode. Very cerebral, smart and taut. The atmosphere felt very real, and the scarce and choice use of music added to it. The strong and heavy subject matter meant a lot to take in, so that resulted in somewhat disjointed narrative. This is not linear story telling. You have flashbacks and within those flashbacks there are sequences that are not chronological.

Present day MM was unhinged as fuck. I have never seen him like this before. Flashback MM was a lot more subdued. Woody Harrelson had to dial back a lot to deliver an emotive, very substantial acting. The banter between the two is the best part of the show. Amazing acting from both.

And success means the opportunity to get other big names in future seasons.

Absolutely. Undoubtedly there are other actors looking for something similar, but they're in the same situation of being unwilling to make a long term commitment to a tv show. It's a great fit for a lot of people.

Yup and really the prospect of having high quality, tight stories told with fantastic actors each season is exciting as hell.

Wow, that was amazing. The pacing, the atmosphere, the acting, the shots of the Louisiana countryside, and Matthew McConaughey... I was really worried that it wouldn't live up to the hype.

I hope it doesn't end up that
the show is making it look like Rust is a killer but in the end he was really covering for Hart.

It's amazing to see Matthew McConaughey go from a role like in The Wedding Planner to something as nuanced as this.

Amazing job and super impressed with his acting.

Watching GIRLS on mute on HBO...how the fuck did HBO greenlit this dogshit with no-name amateurs for 3 seasons? I can't stand these people. Horrible.

At least HBO has True Detective and Game of Thrones...

Showtime for me is total joke now with Dexter and Homeland both jumping the shark.

Fucking Xbox One still doesn't have HBO Go. Forced to watch Girls now until the next airing.

Also, had no idea Cornballer was a moderator now. Did they just assign you that for being king of the television programing?

That was pretty great. Love the slow burn feel of it and McConaughey was fantastic - completely different from any character I've seen him play before.

Also, the opening credits are amazing.

I'm really eager to see what actors they can get for next season. Are they changing the director and writer for next season too or is it unknown at the moment?

The score and cinematography make the show alone.

I kept getting interrupted and I missed some things. What did the little girl who went missing have to do with the main case?

I think it was just something they were following up on after a guy mentioned it when they were canvasing and didn't have any real connection till they found the stick figure at the end.

I think her family used to live by where they found the victim. When they were canvassing the area the old neighbor guy asked if it was the body of the missing girl. Then they tracked down the family as the case had been sort of questionably resolved.

Just finished watching.. Really good. Amazing performance and dialogues and the ending got me curious. Will definitely watch next week.
