3DS Streetpass Experiences

Susurrus, could you please clarify a little bit about Resident Evil Revelations? I'm not sure I fully understood what happens there. Thanks!

The game has "Missions". These are things like "clear ____ difficulty", "Clear Episodes _ - _", "Dodge 20 times", etc. Basically achievements that unlock rewards.

When you street pass someone who has the game, it shows that streetpass as one of the missions that temporarily appear. It just gives you a message (auto generated, usually along the lines of "stay in touch", "maybe these can help", etc), says you streetpassed someone, and when you check it, gives you items to use in the game like any of the other missions do.

Basically, it is a fancy way for street pass to give you loot for your game.

Does that help?

Not my screenshot (used google search), but here is a screen showing "missions" available. The streetpass ones show up as the drop box like the one highlighted at the bottom of the rest of the missions.

I have some very specific question about Link Between Worlds' street pass functionality. If someone has the answer, this is exactly the sort of thing that would be useful to have on the site:

Question: If you have two save files, which do people get in a street pass?

Question 2: If you have a hero mode save file, is this indicated in some way to the person who receives the street pass? Does it effect the bounty?

The easiest way to think about StreetPass, for all games, is that is a seperate hidden save file that has to be written to. If File 1 writes to it, other people will meet that Link. If File 2 then writes to it, File 1's Link will be overwritten and people will meet the File 2 Link instead.

I do intend to add a general StreetPass functionality and FAQ, so this will go in that, as it applies to all games.

Interesting, so it will be the one I have most recently updated? Cool. It's nice to have an answer to that, especially since it applies to other games as well.

Don't forget you also get to hunt down people-turned-zombies in Raid mode, which gives you weapons or other things. I'd have to dig up my copy of the game for better specifics. Also, if you StreetPass a lot you also start getting missions where you have to StreetPass other people working on the same missions.

holy crap i went to uh men's warehouse, macy's at the mall and then wendy's and one of those was apparently a hotspot cause i got 8 tags, just like that! this hasn't worked yet for me in my hometown so it was pretty cool, even if only 1 of them had a new puzzle piece for me, haha

I think it is very weak to wind, or snow... (sadly, I don't recall.. been a while since I played the Mansion game and passed it)

I can tell you it is not snow/ice! But I ended up using a concealing clock to run to the next floor. *whew*. The three weapons I tried all had damage ratings over 100, would do 1-2 damage to it per hit. Oh it's actually a level 5 Beezelboss or however you spell it.

Am now fully in JP puzzle hell on the KH machine, got a Japanese tag yesterday and sighed, leaving behind pink pieces to get my first MonHun piece. The horrors.

I'm confused by this post. You know that every single monster is weak to 1 specific weapon type, right? This is indicated on the touch screen during battles.

Also, it does sound like your weapons are under-powered if they are only around 100 attack. My top weapons (meaning one of each element) are ~140 and I am on level 29.

Oh I know it's weak to one. I apparently have finally figured it out by process of elimination. My one top weapon is over 140, but due to some TRAGIC TERRIBLE DECISIONS early in the game, my other elements are lagging. Been working on it, but leveling them on later floors is @_@.

Still better than the horror that is Mii Force...

So, what am I supposed to be doing in Warriors Way? For months now I've just been hoarding troops, until I have enough to obliterate the opponent with larger numbers. But now that I've reached level 8 castle, there must be a better way of winning.

I'm not intelligent enough to work out how to beat teams bigger than me!

Wow, you are doing it way wrong. You can almost always win as soon as you get to a new opponent as their troop count is scaled against yours. Trying to hoard troops is directly counter productive. Here is some basic advice:

First off, keep in mind that there are only 6 possible outcomes for every battle:

Rock > Scissors > Paper
Rock > Paper > Scissors

Scissors > Rock > Paper
Scissors > Paper > Rock

Paper > Rock > Scissors
Paper > Scissors > Rock

In order to win a battle you need to win two out of the three skirmishes. This means there are two key ways to win.

1) Use coins to spy on your enemy so you can know their sequence of attacks. This way you can put all of your troop into two specific categories and attack their weak points.

2) Carefully balance your troops so that you can be sure that you will win at least 2/3 skirmishes in each of the six possible scenarios. This is where things get complicated (read: fun). Sometimes you can set up your troops so you will for sure win 2/3 skirmishes in all six possible scenarios. Sometimes it is 5/6 or 4/6. Usually you can bump it up to 6/6 by spending one coin.

Note: Sometimes there are two rocks, berserkers, ninjas, etc. The advice above still holds since there are still always going to be 6 possible outcomes. I just wrote it this way for simplicity's sake. Feel free to ask if there is a specific scenario that you want help with.

I'm having difficulty applying this logic to the game. It doesn't help that I consistently forget what beats what. I've used the spy, and obviously won the first round as a result, but how can you guarantee victory only spying once?

What does this mean? I love Mii Force.

... you've never played rock paper scissors?

Rock beats scissors. (A rock can smash scissors apart.)
Scissors beats paper. (Scissors can cut paper.)
Paper beats rock. (You can cover a rock with a piece of paper.)

If your army type beats the opponent's, the opponent loses half their army count in the skirmish. So, a Rock army of 11,000 will beat a Scissors army of 20,000. If you both pick the same army type the victor is decided simply by pure majority.

Of course I have! I mean in the game!

Then it's just pure math to figure out outcomes from there. Tom_Cody and I have explained everything there is to explain, if you're still confused come back with the exact scenario you're facing and we can walk you through it as an example.

Yeah, that's probably the best way to do it. If you don't want to wait for us to answer (and thus lock up your system), just write down the next scenario you face (with his numbers and your troop count) and we can tell you what to do.

something weird happened, i dont know if it was because of me changing countries for the NNID thing or for almost full space on the SD (there was a message when starting the plaza)...but the pieces of the puzzles were gone, but when i again streetpassed the friend that had given me the most pieces, they were back again on the system...

Alrighty then.

I currently have 394,482 troops.

My opponent has 558,457 troops:

Before I confirm, is this even possible?

I have nearly obtained all of the Plaza Tickets for Monster Manor & Warrior's Way, but it's sure taking a while to get even half of the tickets for Flower Town.

I've been having a blast going to street pass relay locations where I live. I usually hit up Home Depot, AT&T, and sometimes will try a McDonalds location, but those are hit and miss (as in sometimes they work, but usually they don't). There's a Barnes & Noble not too far away, too. I'll have to try that location out tonight. Street pass relays have really helped me out with puzzle pieces and getting hats in Find Mii. I've spent more time doing the Mii games recently than playing anything else.

Cool.

He has:

195,459 cavalry (horses)
228,967 cavalry (horses)
134,031 spears

I can't spy before setting up my team, so what's my first move?

134,126 spears is a guaranteed win, but I don't know what to do with the other categories!

You've set the army up exactly how I would have. Scissors is really weak against the enemy here, so I would drop that army to the minimum size, then send it out to die first, trying to bait the larger rock army. Paper is strong here: 135k will beat everything out here. The rest forms your rock army, which should be large enough to trade favorably against both enemy rocks.

I literally don't know which groups you're referring to. Which one's "rock"?

Edit: I've just noticed the rock, paper, scissors icons! I can't believe it!

Edit 2: I'm really stoned. I completely fucked up the team split before starting because I wasn't paying attention, so didn't stand a chance. I lost 40,000 troops. Brilliant.

Thanks for the advice though. I will try again tomorrow.

So at this point, Europe is missing the puzzles for Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Chibi-Robo! Photo Finder, Monster Hunter 4 and Brain Age: Concentration Training. It's beginning to feel a lot like the 90s again!

(As for Brain Age, where's the actual game?)

The game was planned to be released in Europe on April 12, 2013, however despite releasing fully localized information on the title, Nintendo of Europe had since announced the game's release being postponed as of April 9, 2013. No official reason was given, and the game's European release date remained suspended for the remainder of 2013.

He has:

195,459 cavalry (horses) - Rock
228,967 cavalry (horses) - Rock
134,031 spears -Paper
This will allow you to win if you use one coin:

Rock: 228,968
Paper: 134,032
Scissors: Whatever's left
Note: I realize that you can't choose the exact amount. For Paper and Rock just choose the option that gives at least this amount.

As I had said, there are six potential outcomes. You want to set up your troops so you can win all 6/6 outcomes:

1) Paper (134) > Rock (195) > Rock (228)
2) Paper (134) > Rock (228) > Rock (195)
3) Rock (195) > Rock (228) > Paper (134)
4) Rock (195) > Paper (134) > Rock (228)
5) Rock (228) > Rock (195) > Paper (134)
6) Rock (228) > Paper (134) > Rock (195)

First off, set up your troops the way that I said. Now spy.

If paper:

Paper (134) > Rock (195) > Rock (228)
Paper (134) > Rock (228) > Rock (195)

Forfeit the first turn by using your minimal number of scissors. After that either of your remaining units will beat his remaining rock units.

If Rock:

Rock (195) > Rock (228) > Paper (134)
Rock (195) > Paper (134) > Rock (228)

Rock (228) > Rock (195) > Paper (134)
Rock (228) > Paper (134) > Rock (195)

Use rock first and this will beat either of his rock units. Then use paper to beat either of his remaining units.

I see now that you already tried and lost. Just post back when you try again.

They're just math problems. I think you'll get the hang of it if you do this a few times (or lose interest).

Too many random plaza passes from all over the UK. I'd rather have my hardcore 5 local people to pass multiple times.

In general I saw a huge bump my rate of getting street passes following the release of Pokemon and then another huge jump following this holiday season.

That can't be true. Every Costa and Caffe Nero is a guaranteed 6 as long as you spend 30 seconds there.
On this note, my local McDonald's used to given me 1-2 a day which I would usually let pool for few days between visits. Now it's more like 5-6 a day, and this is great since it usually the same group of people (a pool of something like 20-40 people) so I have been getting more and more multi-passes. Good times.

I've actually begun StreetPassing someone in my own house, but whoever they are has only activated Animal Crossing. It's exciting seeing the light go green, but then I check and it's just "charlie from london" for Animal Crossing and no Plaza data. I should send some letters round the neighbourhood, find out who it is, get them to turn it on.

I'm glad Caffe Nero turned into a good source of passes. My previous tactic of just standing between Pizza Hut and McDonalds became a little creepy (and not as effective).

I forget, can you add a custom message for the AC StreetPass? If in the worst case, renovate your home with one. lol

I have to wonder how often people actually check AC houses, or check the profiles.

I kinda ignore the people I pass regularly in AC.

Maybe it's just me. After almost 1000 AC Streetpass houses I just don't have the will to check every room of every house.

My Animal Crossing passes are broken. Whenever I enter the showcase my 3DS crashes, so I've just deactivated AC now. Shame as I'm quite proud of my house and actually want to show it off a little.

Ok people who have beaten the Mansion game.

What weapon are Beelzebub's weak to? They are driving me crazy. They can't really hurt me much any more, but I do 1-2 damage per hit to them with my two best weapons. And then they regen and it just turns into a war of attrition, and I'm clearly not getting past floor 37 without beating one and ARGGGHHH.

Help.

O_o Nintendo has an enemy named Beelzebub in a Streetpass game? Seriously? That's.....surprising.
