NPD Sales Results for December 2013 [Up2: Xbox One/360 HW, 3DS top system of year]

If Sony had a million more unit to sell they would have easily sold that, MS met the US demand much better you could easily get One almost at all times, but that was Sony's mistake they should have focus more on US because that's where they were weakest last gen.

Quite the power gap between CoD and BF4. Killzone did pretty well considering how average it is. Not surprised at Knack's mediocre result though. Didn't sync up well with the typical US early adopter and reviewed poorly.

Is that Knack number even mediocre? Game was poorly received and it looks like it has sold pretty close to what GT6 has sold so far.

Though not pertaining to NPD results, the following is interesting:

Nintendo of France GM Philippe Lavoue, has shared some 2013 sales numbers for Pokemon X & Y, Wii U, 3DS, 3DS, and Super Mario 3D World.

“3DS: 1 million+ (64% plus year over year) YTD (over the expectations)”
2DS: 180k
Pokemon X and Y: 584k YTD
The Wii U sold 178k in 2013 in France.
3D World: 98k YTD

How much did 3DS sell in the U.K. for comparison, 550k?

France did double damn.

3D World sold almost 100k in France alone ! Some people in the Media Create thread were convinced 3D Worlds full Euro sales to date couldn't match November's NPD number lol...

WiiU is in a similar way in Europe. It's not exactly doing well anywhere, but it's doing exceptionally bad in Europe. Bad enough to question how long it will have a shelf life there.

Two platforms performing this badly, while the prior market leader in the handheld market is seeing a drastic contraction of that market makes me queasy. Market crash is real people! And it's coming from the casuals! Batten down the hatches!

Casuals are a fleeing! They who make up 80% of a console sales are being zapped away! Some mysterious enigmatic force!

I just peed...

Yeah, the future of the gaming business as we know it is very worrying right now.

It is Mortimer, dude.

*shrugs* I really don't know what's the story mate

You can check his post history, and he has some info. But it makes sense, Vita has to hit 6M one of this months, 2.5M are in Japan, and we know that USA is not setting the charts on fire with Vita.We have the percentage charts from Nintendo with no numbers. That's the problem with EU, we do not have a media blow out as with NPD.

interesting, and it indeed makes sense. With these numbers I'd have expected Sony EU to comment about it, you could almost spin them in a decent way. Apparently they think they can't

Sony really need to get out of the handheld market and focus exclusively on PS4. MS did better than I thought they would, they have rebounded quite nicely. Their marketing has actually been a bit better than PS4.

I won't bet shit, but it's my guess. They'll have a new portable announced by 2015/early 2016.

That's totally possible, but i'd still bet on it getting to 80 if it was succeeded in 2016. It needs like 38 million more (roughly speaking)? I reckon it will stop short of 90 without a breakthrough, but I think 80 should be do-able.

it's because they actually can't
in fact, if mortimer is going with that 6 million WW figure, combined with his previous 2 million for NA.....that means Europe<NA for Vita

......no, even I can't believe that's true

It was one of two launch exclusives, which you always expect to do fairly well, and it was the only really kid-friendly title for those picking up a system who also have little kids.

I don't know, if they'd made a better game I could have seen 250k, easy. But they didn't.

Woah#Vita sales.

I thought PS4 hype was having a small positive effect in other parts of the world, so at least it would perform decently in the US.

That number is abysmal. PS4/XBOne launches have left people with no money for dead systems, it seems. Let's hope it picks up a little in 2014, because anyone developing a Vita game must be on suicide watch right now.

Other than that, PS4 seems to be supply constrained worldwide while MS is focusing all their efforts in the US/UK combo.

Wii U doing Gamecube numbers, but overall weak considering Christmas sales are always a strong point for Nintendo systems. 3DS doing great as expected.

Isn't the Wii U doing worse than Gamecube?
