This is what I've been saying since last E3.
Expect 10 new characters (around 45 based on Brawl's roster)) and 50 counting alts and stuff.
Seems like a fair and healthy amount of characters.

Is there some compilation of Sakurai's quotes regarding Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U somewhere? There are so many misconceptions floating around right now about the roster and such, and a directory of all of Sakurai's quotes on the matter (free from articles that misconstrue them into something they're not) would be nice to have. I'm sick of having to dig out all these quotes whenever someone claims that Sakurai said there will be fewer characters, etc. Seriously, it's bad. Some of my friends genuinely believe that we're only going to be getting a couple newcomers, and that the overall roster size will be even smaller than Brawl's.

Half-expecting your next roster mock-up to boot out half the cast for every single Uprising God, Goddess, Magnus and the dog in that one chapter.
Really hope the next time a Nintendo goes all out with the story and presentation, it has a similar level of quality to Uprising's.

Kirby Air Ride opening theme.
I've only ever entertained 45 ~ 50 characters tops myself. With a 12 new per game average (so far), I don't think it's too out there.

Well we still don't really know how the alleged character customization works. I've been thinking they may try something along the lines of a "moveset loadout" where upon levelling a fighter he learns new moves that you can swap the old ones for. IE Mario starts with lame ass FLUDD, reaches level 5, learns much superior Mario Tornado. Then at level 10 learns an all-new down-B like Galaxy spin or something.
Of course coming up with a dozen specials for EVERY one on the roster would be difficult, some just plain have more options than others.

So, recently there's been a few Assist Trophies announced - I think every one has been shown off in the last 30 or so images - but apart from the Xerneas tease after XY's release (who may be a Stage Hazard), we've not seen any Pokeball Pokemon yet, despite seeing the item in the Rosalina trailer, at least. I hope Sakurai starts to show some Pokemon love, too.
I sincerely doubt battlefield has a pokemon stage hazard. He's a poke ball pokemon and Sakurai is a cocktease.

Tuesday (the 21st) is the 15th anniversary of the Super Smash Bros. series and the 20th anniversary of Wario Land.

The Smash series itself celebrates its 15th anniversary come this 21th, if I'm not mistaken. I'm doubtful we'll get anything, maybe just an acknowledgement on Sakurai's part in a photo with Mario, Link, Pikachu and Kirby.
EDIT: Man, didn't know about Wario Land's anniversary. Would be perfect to unveil Wario there, even more so considering Ashley's reveal last week. Albeit, I don't know, seems like we've been spoiled as of late character-wise if it does happen.
