Exclusive Invitation for an Xbox One Alpha Trial [Titanfall]

You don't think Microsoft would do that?

Well I know they would, it's more on the side of would Zampella agree to it? They would have to have some seriously badass terms for the studio for them to accept I would think after being under Activision for so long.

Yeah I just don't see Zampella going for this after the Activision shit.

MS certainly can buy Respawn, but what about EA? shouldn't this piss EA?

And I'm sure MS can convince Zampella to join MS studios.

Respawn would be a crazy good acquisition for them if they agreed to friendly terms with the studio.
If it sells up to 10 million like Pachter predicted, I can imagine it would be hard for Microsoft not to try haha.

I'm sure Microsoft will try something to keep exclusivity - but I imagine that won't happen until Microsoft sees how TitanFall actually performs sales wise (and reception wise).

With that said, that doesn't mean that Microsoft will get the exclusivity for the TitanFall franchise, but this type of IP seems like something that Microsoft would at least attempt to acquire. Usually Microsoft seems to be in its comfort zone when it has a few major selling IPs - they have Halo, they have Forza, and they need something to replace Gears of War. I think that's probably going to be Black Tusk Studios' game though.

TitanFall really just reminds me of how CoD started and eventually got popular - CoD2 released exclusively on the 360, if I'm not mistaken, and TitanFall is doing the same here. Of course, I don't think CoD really got popular until CoD4.

In the case of call of duty 2 though I think it was more a time of release thing than microsoft doing anything to get exclusivity. The game came out in 2005 as did the 360 whereas the wii and ps3 came out in 2006.

I pride myself on my wall running. I feel like Michael Scott out there at times. I'm screaming out loud to myself... "Parkour! Hardcore Parkour!"

Man this game sounds fantastic from all the impressions I am reading. I love CoDs twitch mechanics and fast gameplay. As a PS4 owner the wait for Titanfall 2 is going to be absolutely brutal.

Mother of God.. a friend of mine just showed me a couple matches. He is damn good at fast shooters and in this game he it was jaw dropping. The speed.. the craziness.. it seemed to run super smooth as well.

I am VERY pumped up for this now....

CoD 2 was only exclusive on the then next gen (360) because the PS3 wasn't going to be out for another year, when both consoles got CoD3. Though CoD2 with its initial 70%+ attach rate on the 360 was an impetus for getting that DLC exclusive deal.

That's true. I don't think Microsoft actively sought out CoD2 either because I don't believe CoD2 had anywhere close to the hype that TitanFall has.

Has anyone unlocked custom classes and went through the loadout menus yet and listing all the perks/weapons? Because I always like knowing that then planning a loadout even if I dont buy the game (like cod ghosts for example).

Yes and they have 3 primary weapons, 2 sidearms, 2 anti titan weapons, 2 grenades, 3 options in the tier 1 ordnances and 2 in the tier 2 in the alpha. There will more of everything available in the full game.

Primary weapons have addons that are gained by getting kills on specific enemy types.

People who think EA didn't expect footage of this to leak are naive, or must be assuming EA is phenomenally naive. This is going to be their latest stable XBone build with the alpha tag a built in defense-force for any potential negative reactions of one of the most heavily marketed titles in some time. The presence of textures at 25% resolution paired with rendering frame drops is clear evidence of major performance issues on the XBone at full resolution. It's what you get when your flagship target is a console yet all development and demos are being done on high end PCs.

This all just feels so similar to Diablo 3. The enormous hype months before launch, people initially jaw dropped by the beta shortly followed by more sober objectivity slowly setting it and then defense force along the lines of "It's only a beta. This will definitely change by retail. Judging it based on this is LoL. We're under a super secure NDA - Actiblizzard has no doubt Xxx4Twenty4LifexxX is going to have absolute respect for his NDA which he surely carefully studied before accepting and digitally signing."

The game looks just about as I expected which is to say a perfectly passable and very "casualized" shooter (don't expect the AI to start kicking ass and taking names - they have a purpose and it ain't killing) which should definitely be more than enough to give people their fix next until TNBT is announced. The benefits of being realistic with your expectations instead of buying into absurd marketing hype. The same hype that now has now left the dev/pubs in a situation of having to claim that a demo put out 2 months before the title is going to be on store shelves is actually just an alpha.

In a nutshell - props to the Titanfall team. Boo to the marketing and boo to the players that bought into it. WYSIWYG. It's a decent looking early launch title and I'm sure plenty of people will have a lot of fun with it.

embarrassing. Straight up mortification.

It gave me a MW2 kind of vibe tbh, and that's a good thing. I would guess that people really aren't used to having that kind of mobility in a game like this. I figure arena shooter fans will feel right at home with this. Looks like I may actually pick up a ONE first. heh, who knew.

So Titans are something a player earns during the progression of a match, correct? During the initial announcement trailer, a player begins the match and almost immediately meets an enemy Titan. I take it that won't happen during a real game.

Obviously a lot of stuff in that video was for demonstration purposes only, but since I don't have an Xbox One, I can't compare the alpha version of the game to the announcement trailer.

Anyone playing Bumper Jumper? (vague) Thoughts/impressions about its usefulness? I think it would be mandatory for high-level play but idk.

I used bumper jumper first then switched today after 2 days of bumper jumper. I have to say default is manageable for high level crazy off the wall maneuvers while fighting someone/ shooting at the same time. But honestly bumper jumper is just much smoother. always having the jump option at your finger tip while moving your reticule / shooting is very good on that control scheme. it feels amazing when take 2 bullets in the back then instantly turn around and start doing a bunch of crazy wall maneuvers all while keeping my reticule on my opponent utterly destroying him.

There will definitely be a deep meta game to this movement alone I guarantee =) I dare say a default player will hit a certain ceiling where as bumper jumper players will be much more consistent with high level maneuvering in the middle of a gunfight.

Everyone gets a titan even if they don't kill, but I believe you speed up your timer if you do kill. In the E3 demo, that looked like Campaign Multiplayer, so naturally some NPCs might start off with titans. This Alpha has Attrition and Domination (Hardpoint Capture) modes, which are more like traditional multiplayer.

I'm not sure if this video was posted, but I thought it was the best I've seen:

So far the most entertaining video. Liked how he didn't know someone was hitching a ride on his shit.

Wasn't Vince kind of let down that Titanfall was made exclusive for one console? I don't even think he was made aware of it, until after it happened. He kind of seemed upset on Twitter, but said that Titanfall 2 would be on other consoles.

You could start a match, and hide in a corner, and you will get a Titan. Everyone has a countdown meter. But the more kills you get, the faster your Titanfall happens. So you obviously want to kill as many people as you can. Killing Grunts (which are AI pilots/soldiers), will also yield you a quicker Titanfall. There is also a race for teams to get as many Titan's on the map as once, as three Titan's can overpower Two. Or two can overpower One. And so on.

I like that they've replaced knives with jumpkicks for melees

here's a new video to me?

Wow this is the best video.

- The guy actually ejects from his titan and lands on the enemy's back and blows it up just like the E3 demo.

- As a human he goes one on one with an enemy titan and destroys it by using his mobility to dodge then jumping on its back

- Near the end there is a part where he is running from one capture point to another and all around him are huge titans fighting and he is dodging in between them. It looks like movie with a tiny human running between huge robots.
