Super Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS Thread 4: New Year, Old Arguments

Yeah it'd be pretty cool, it would be like Super Paper Mario!

you know i sort of want a stage or something that resembles chapter 3 from that game, where the world is all pixely

i loved that look

EDIT: oh omg you edited ur post

yesssss great minds think alike

My only question is why they would bring some of the Tales people on if they didn't intend to have any sort of story mode at all in either version.

Who played Subspace Emissary for the story?

I guess they have an experience with "Smash" fighting game, via Tales of Versus. That's only my guess but really bad one tho.

There can still be SubSpace style bosses in this new Adventure mode. I predict Sakurai will take some of the best gameplay elements of SupSpace and shove it into the frame of Melee's Adventure mode. Shorter than SubSpace, yet longer than Melee's Adventure mode, with more variety than both, hopefully.

I certainly hope so, Boss battles for me at least was one of the best inclusions in Brawl. Especially after coming from stuff like giant Donkey Kong/Kirby/Bowser or 2v1 character battles for bosses in Melee's adventure mode.

I remember it being written as SubSpace.

InCorrect.

Sakurai's reason for not doing another SSE style adventure mode is flimsy to begin with. Did he honestly expect the cutscenes to not show up on sites like youtube at all?

Going backwards to Melee's adventure for something like that if he did would be disappointing to say the least.

Boss fights were one of the most heavily hyped up parts of SSE.

did you read what im trying to say

look, what im trying to say is that they can easily add boss battles to this mode while still sticking to the melee style

I'm gonna be the biggest hipster here apparently: I didn't like either game's mode
but at least I didn't have to sit and camp for trophy stands to throw at generic enemies in Melee
Yeah, both adventure modes pretty much blew chunks. The other single player stuff is perfectly fine; hopefully there are some more fun event matches in tow.

I really hope that we are getting good amount of single contents.

Adventure Mode
All-Stars Mode
Classic Mode
Home Run Derby
Boss Battle
Multi-Man Melee
Break the Targets (just like Melee, not Brawl)
Event Matches

I probably forget some modes since I'm getting tired.

Board the Platforms!

If something sucks make it better, not disposed of. That's my general attitude & it annoys me how quick & easy people are to jump on the latter.

However, I'm fine with no SSE sequel. While there's certainly room for improvement, if was a huge timesink in Brawl's development & the Melee style is in more need of being fully realized ATM IMO.

??

SSE built upon Adventure Mode but took it in the wrong direction.

Smash 4 seems to be doing the same thing but with hopefully in the better direction.

I feel that co-op might return to this, along with boss fights... so i don't feel there's really much compromises being done here other than cutscenes?

Cutscenes in a fighting game are just filler anyway imo. All of the time and money making CG could be put towards improving the actual game itself.

Every special move will have a cutscene that happens during gameplay.

PLEASE GOD let the adventure stages all be based on pre-existing Nintendo games. Please please please. Bind Sakurai to your will, O Lord

But fighting games with cut scenes exist.

For years now.

So yeah.

Yeah, but didn't Sakurai have to focus himself on these cutscenes? I remember reading that awhile back. I don't mind intro cutscenes, but if Sakurai himself thinks it's better to not have em (the SSE ones) then I don't really see the issue.

This is a problem with Sakurai's work ethic. He works too closely on everything.

Sakurai thinks a lot of things, that thing in particular was given the explanation of " because people will see them on youtube ".

Sakurai thinks a lot things...

Fighting Pixel Team.

Amazing idea. Yes please.

Which reminds me. The lack of SSE means potentially less much Smash universe characters.

  1. Team Characters
  2. Master Hand
  3. Crazy Hand
  4. Sandbag
  5. Common SSE Enemies
  6. Duon
  7. Galleom
  8. Tabuu
1, 2, 3 and 4 are guaranteed, but I wonder if any SSE character is possible. I'm very interested in playing as Tabuu, but I'd compromise with him as a Boss. Not a big fan of Duon or Galleom, but I guess they could of be Assist Trophies. But eh, Primids are probably more iconic.
