MS: Halo 5, Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break dates at E3; new exclusives this year

Still damn curious about their "Japanese signing"/"rumored to be Platinum Games" game is... or maybe Shenmue returns to the Xbox :) "cue Imagine"

Cant wait to see more of Black Tusk's game, which I would hope will be at E3 again.
They did say they'll talk more about it this year, but I don't think we'll get an in-depth look just yet. I think they're wanting to focus on the IPs mentioned in the OP and whatever else is coming this year (Forza Horizon 2, Crackdown 3 maybe?) as well as whatever the "Japanese exclusives" they've been talking about.

Expect Black Tusk's game next year most likely.

Sunset Overdrive sounds like the game Microsoft will send out to die during the big holiday period.

Hope not but they do love to focus on the big games and ignore everything else then wonder why it wasn't successful.
Sounds like every publisher.

My guesses.

Fall 2014:
Sunset Overdrive
Halo
Forza Horizon 2

Spring 2015:
Quantum Break

Fall 2015:
Black Tusk's Game
Fable Legends

I'm sure they will also look into make more Rare titles since Killer Instinct seems to be doing good.

Halo's coming because it has to and Sunset Overdrive doesn't seem like the type of thing that takes forever to make.

I would be shocked if QB hit this year.

Yeah, in the context of the other games not coming out this year, Halo 5 has to.

But when I look at all three of the games individually, I can't really see any of releasing this year. I have a feeling we won't see QB, and that we won't see Sunset Overdrive (which at this point is just promises, and gunning for a Fall 2014 release? It would be eaten alive). And I have a feeling that Halo 5 will release this year, albeit wanting for more time.

Excellent, E3 is going to be great this year. Also looking forward to seeing more of the Black Tusk game although I don't expect that to release in 2014.

Plus the inevitable reveals of the new Banjo and Conker games!

MS will have a tough time announcing more than Sony. They simply don't have the first party depth. We've yet to hear from SSM proper and we don't know what Japan Studio's next project is either, for starters.

My guesses.

Black Tusk's Game
Fable Legends

That would be pretty much my guess too and nice break up of exclusives over the next year.

If they can have 2-3 more major exclusives in the Fall and Spring that would set X1 up really well. They will need it.

Not yet. Guacamelee accidental announcement had it pegged for "Spring 14" so perhaps that is one of them.

I would think/hope Super Time Force will be one of the first around March time. Not many actual games announced.

They mentioned the 30 developers or so from the original announcement so probably hear more specifics soon. I did ask Chris Charla but unfortunately he didn't reply :(

You can't claim that. Who knows what games they have yet to announce.

I'd actually throw in an exclusive or 2 from Japan this year given Microsoft's recent messaging.

Is it me or has MS been getting certain things right about games? Having good launch line up, have a few more games afterwards and now they are giving us specifics about what will happen at e3.

Sony needs to say something now. Their silence were okay but now it's getting ridiculous Like they have nothing. I know they do

Sony also hasn't announced projects as far into the future as MS has, so yeah, I see Sony having a busier E3 line-up.

I would personally expect Fable Legends to be this year, they said we were getting a beta this year but I think we might get the full release as part of the fall line-up. Also evidence surfacing that Lionhead have a third game being made makes me think it'll be out sooner too.

Ruffian said their next game was due for release this year and I think personally its Microsoft published (Crackdown 3 or not) so we'll see.

I'm expecting an awesome 2014. It seems that Microsoft has a great balance between new and well known IPs.

My most antecipated title is Quantum Break which looks the most innovative for me. Can't wait.

I think Microsoft will still have a good E3, but yeah Sony has been packing big guns away.

We have Guerrilla Games apparently epic SciFi RPG, we have SSM's two major projects, we have to see Uncharted 4, the insiders keep saying either Demon Soul's 2 or spiritual successor is coming, and there are at least 5 or 6 other major teams within Sony development (Sony Japan, for example, which according to some of the insiders are on very early working on a major RPG, a "Final Fantasy killer" so-to-speak).

Sony said they had 30 games in development for PS4 back in E3, and 20 slated to come out 'within the first year.' That's probably even starting to get larger now that their last teams stop working on PS3 titles.

Microsoft has a big gun though on top of all these 2014 games they announced already like Quantum Break, Halo and Sunset. That Black Tusk spy game that everyone who has seen it says is insanely incredible, a true landmark for next-gen development so far. CBOAT couldn't stop gushing about whatever it is he has seen. And buzz is growing for Forza Horizon 2.

Yo! looking at this dev walk through for the unset overdrive trailer, could they cartoon the faces up a bit more?

More specifically the main dude.

I don't think they are going to meet that 20 in the first year commitment unless they are mainly small PSN or cross-play titles. How many have actually even been announced?

It was announced at E3 2013 as a 2014 game...

With Halo and Sunset Overdrive out this year it would make sense to announce the date at E3, I'm only expecting Quantum Break to be narrowed down at E3 "first half of 2015" or something.

March 2015 wouldn't be that bad, actually I think it would be much better

they also keep saying their in talks about older franchises OG xbox title so they have a pretty solid lineup if they ever feel like using it to make people clamor not to mention the rare games they could use if they wanted ...i dunno in general im excited about what ps4/xbox one & the PC are coming out with it feels so damn good being a gamer right now lol

I am actually very excited for Halo 5 and what they do with the campaign. Hope to see a lot of beautiful fields, snow terrain, and just a nature vibe in general. Akin to CE. Also, a visit to a Halo structure itself.

Of course, something is always bound to be delayed. I believe this is what counts on the list of 20 first year titles:

Driveclub
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture
Helldivers
Hohokum
Infamous: Second Son
Killzone Shadow Fall
Knack
MLB 14: The Show
The Order: 1886
Pure Pool
Resogun
Rime
Shadow of the Beast
Uncharted 4

So that's 14 out of 20. And some of those are smaller games, of course. Not that it makes a lick of difference to me since I don't make that distinction for any company.

I think Microsoft has a very competitive list of first year games compared to the ones Sony announced so far. Microsoft has more bigger guns on their list so far, but Sony's list is probably more diverse.

I think Microsoft's goal will be to continue diversification, and Sony's goal will be to get one or two more 'big buzz titles' that act as singular killer apps.

Oh yeah? If so, I want CRIMSON SKIES back! Who is with me?

Crimson Skies one of my favorite games :(

They better use them!!!

Agreed. MS needs to flood this console with exclusives to keep up the fight considering the third party games will nearly always look worse. Buying exclusive content won't be enough. I'd like to see more Killer Instinct type development deals. Give teams with hidden talent like Double Helix a chance with old franchises that aren't being used.

Take uncharted off that, and it's a really mediocre list.

I want (hope) we see sequels to Crimson Skies, Midtown Madness, Otogi, Cpnker's Bad Fur Day, Phantom Dust, Blinx, MechAssault, Fusion Frenzy and Kung Fu Chaos.

That's also a great point as well and would like to see more of that.

Do we know if Sony is including cross-play titles in that list of 20? Flow, Flower, maybe Journey etc... might get it to 20.

oh, so it also has good animation

MS are going to get bodied by Sony this year. Their years of shutting down first party studios made great short-term sense at the end of 360's lifecycle but it's left them massive behind Sony going into next gen.

Xbone owners better hope that Halo TV show is good.
