It is $30 right now, which seems to be as low as it will go MSRP wise. Maybe you can get it during a sale or something.

Didn't even know they offered a Nintendo Selects for Brawl. I've seen Wii Sports, Pikmin 2, Mario Galaxy and Baseball and whatnot but never Smash. Maybe every one bought it.

I actually bought my current copy for like $22 used really recently (like, two weeks ago "really recently") at a local retro gaming store but since it has these errors I want to go get a refund. I'd really like to use that money to get a new copy, plus I really like the cover design of the "Nintendo Selects" label.

Its not the end of the world if it doesn't come though. I believe I can get it new at Amazon for like $25
 
I'm really up for anything Sakurai has for us tonight, maybe we'll get an returning item (I.e. Beam Sword)

Hmm really? I don't know the specifics or anything, just know the basic seasons are different between the south and the north, though I guess the dates aren't exactly the same.

Yea, you're probably better off with Amazon. I didn't know they had a Nintendo Selects cover for Brawl though.

Ahh, OK, my bad, I probably sounded like a jackass. He was probably just wondering which month you were born in.
 
I remember when my father took me to the store to buy the first Smash.
The store was mostly toys, but I would pass by, and see they had Smash on the window display. I saved half of the money it'd cost, my parents gave me the other half.
When we arrived, the fella in charge of the store saw that I was a young boy, and wondered if I wouldn't prefer "something with the incredible Superman" instead. Yes, he was trying to sell me and my father on the renowned masterpiece that is Superman 64.
I already knew what I had come for, however. Other times I would have been more impressionable. Not this time, every cent had been saved so I could play Smash, and so God helped me, I was going to buy Smash.
Talk about a bullet dodged.
 
Please don't burn me at the stake for saying this but... I think a square character would be a great choice for smash. I'm not talking about Sora or Cloud but instead something from old school square. It might seem weird but back in the SNES/Genisis days square was at their zenith and seemed so untouchable that them making a console of their own could have been easily believable. You also couldn't get square games on the Genisis and they were a huge chunk of the "best of the best" for SNES.

Of course the issue is more that they don't have any characters from that era recognizable enough for a 3rd party inclusion...
 
Interesting rumor

I'm sure none of you know me, I used to hang out on the Brawl boards before release all the time. I never really posted much though, just followed the dojo hype train with everyone else around that time. Anyone that was around then knows there were legitimate leaks, but no one believed them at the time because of how crazy they seemed(wtf ROB?). Well there was a user in particular who leaked correct information that I managed to befriend around that time, this person is no longer active on gamefaqs, nor do they have plans to return.

I didn't befriend them right away, it took a bit of work, but it eventually got to a point where we would talk every now and then over AIM or Skype. I was mostly interested in their line of work, as at the time was aspiring to work in the video game business. After awhile we kinda fell out of touch, but I saw them on Skype today and figured I'd say hello and see if I could find any information out because I've noticed all these "leaks" lately around here and people going back and forth about them.

My friend wasn't particularly interested in sharing any information with gamefaqs, and told me gamefaqs wouldn't believe anything anyway. I agreed and asked if they would just answer a few questions at least, and this is what I gathered:

Ridley is not playable, he's a stage hazard.
King K. Rool is not playable.
Diddy is not partnered with Dixie.
Online will have way more options then Brawl, like being able to host rooms with your own item/rule set ups.

That's all the info I was able to get, I couldn't squeeze one new comer out sorry. I tried to get a Little Mac confirmation at least, but they wouldn't confirm or deny. Obviously I don't know if this information is legit, I could have been lied to very easily. My friend wasn't treated very well by the Brawl board users, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if they were just yanking my chain. This the first conversation I've had with them in like 2 years so take that for what it's worth.

I remember when I got Smash 64.
It was 1999 and I had saved up money from my previous birthday and Christmas(they are 11 days apart) and I was at the video game section of Walmart and I didn't even know Smash existed and I see this is the case

Other rumor

New leak

"Alright, I'm not here to leak loads of information. I am just hear to get my message out. Over the past couple of days I've seen a few prediction rosters with 50+ characters and some that include impossible characters such as Geno or Goku. If you really believe that, then you should prepare yourself for a major disappointment.
The roster started around 50 characters, but it was trimmed down to 44, and then 42. Goku, Geno, and those sorts of characters were never even considered. There will only be 3 third parties. Don't ask me who, because I don't plan on losing my job anytime soon.
Ridley isn't playable. Neither is King K Rool. Sakurai is shooting for uniqueness. I'll use Rosalina (and Luma) as an example. She wasn't as requested as Bowser Jr. or Toad, yet she was the one that got in.
Don't expect every character to return. Sakurai has already said this, but some prediction rosters still have no cuts. As I previously stated, Sakurai is going for uniqueness, so don't expect R.O.B or Lucario to be getting the axe.
Anyhow, I won't plan on making any more posts as I don't plan to leak out the full game. You can ignore this and keep making your 55 character rosters, but don't say I didn't warn you. -Naryol"
