Well it's obviously not the main thing that helps me believe this 'leak' is true. That would be the fact that Ashley is an assist trophy (And most of it seems fairly plausible in my eyes). That being said, it's most likely false anyway. I'm just keeping my eye on it since it's one of the rumors with the highest chance of being true.
Makes sense. It will be interesting looking back at all these rumors after smash 4 is released. I don't even mind the leakers anymore, it helps me pass the time between real info.

If it's a Spring 2014 release for Smash what months does that fall into, between March to May/June?
I'm starting to think that this thread could serve as a valuable insight for new, undiscovered forms of mental insanity. I'm sure a large portion of you aren't being entirely serious, but you guys know how low the odds are that Sakurai shows anything good. It's like you're asking to be disappointed every day at 3 AM XD

No, they came from two different rumor leakers. I found it weird that two different rumors are matching up.

Yes it is. So many crushed dreams.
Speaking of which, this last leak does seem awfully believable... as in it's exactly what we are all expecting. No crazy stuff, no weird newcomers, a roster that is frankly too predictable.
The reality is that I wish it's fake because it says Paper Mario was never considered. That's killing me inside, so much for Sakurai wanting unique characters, he's literally made of paper and can fold onto itself.

It seems like every day there's a new excuse to get over-excited.
The best part is how some people seem to think their hype obligates him in some way to reveal something interesting.
Brawl's site only had this on the same day, so it's probably safe to say he doesn't care about "celebrating" it.

I think he's more humble with his works, rather than not caring about celebrations or so.
Smash Bros leaks these days are so boring. I swear there must be some "Smash Bros. Rumor Template" they're all following.
Step 1: Start with some plausible ideas, such as already-rumored characters or big fan favorites making it into the roster.
Step 2: Fill the rest of the "leak" out with your own personal wishlist.
Step 3: Add lots of details that nobody but those on the development team would know, because we all know game devs are eager to break NDAs and risk their long-term job situation in the industry to let random forumgoers in on SHOCKING SECRETS they'll find out within months anyways.
Step 4: Finish with "X character will be revealed on *insert soon-approaching date here*". This way the limelight will be on you for a little while, instead of having your rumor be forgotten almost immediately.
Is anybody fooled by these?

I'm sure when Sakurai was talking about how he hoped Smash would come out in 2014, he was thinking "Thank God I have that seven month buffer since I planned all along to release it in the spring!"

That one specific rumor that included Ashley I would personally be ok with. It's a pretty decent list.

Well he said Pac-Man would be final character so I assumed that rumor list is finalized with all characters. I seriously doubt that it's real for now.

Not doing full sprites for unconfirmed characters I decided to do a little
something for fun.
I'm okay with loads of different characters, but I decided to create
a (relatively) balanced roster that'd fill in a number of slots equel to the brawl newcomers. (minus the 4 already confirmed guys)

So just saw the monday update, and the japanese translation with it. Every time Sakurai opens his mouth this two games seem to be less and less ambitious than its predecessor.
That information's been out there since the game was announced. That he's still trying to come up with a more involved single player mode even after SSE was a fantastic disappointment is somewhat ambitious still. The obvious answer wasn't correct in that case and he's still experimenting.
