Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Edition PC

Native Xbox 360 controller support?

This is the most important thing. I am not playing this with mouse and keyboard.

Mouse and keys on RE5 was good. If the same control setup is brought across it'll work nicely. Even better, if the same setup is brought across Razer Hydra owners will be able to make it play just like RE4's Wii controls should they want.

Although all first timers should play the game with a pad so as not to break the balance of the gameplay and the upgrade system.

Ugh I kind of think Capcom is taking the piss now.

Seriously how many times have they sold us this game?

I've bought it myself twice and it will only encourage them to make more shite sequels like RE6.

When I played it on pc it ran at 60fps. Or is it one of those games that ran internally at 30fps and each frame was being rendered twice?

Bought the Gamecube version on launch day.

Bought the PS3 version during the last Halloween sale.

Will buy the PC version
when it's 75% off.

This port makes sense because the previous(and only) RE4 PC version was total shit(PS2 assets).

Well the store page does mention this.

So I hope so and more. Though might end up being Steam leaderboards.
RE4 HD on consoles has Speed Run leaderboards for campaign, but not Mercenaries for some reason. That's a really odd omission (just like in Mercs 3D).

Anyway, that's probably what the Steam page refers to. RE6 has this on its store page:

Compatible with Console Version Feature Updates/RE.NET - The PC version is compatible with all of the latest features that have been added to the console versions, and is compatible with RE.NET too.

REvelations:

Residentevil.net support – Resident Evil Revelations will take full advantage of Residentevil.net with content available to users once the game launches. Earn weapons and custom parts and use them in-game, collect figures that can be used in dioramas and check your stats through the online web service.

RE4 doesn't have any indication of re.net support on its page.

Buying the fuck outta this. Was about to buy the HD version on 360 too. Now I can play it in HD with my GameCube controller :)

Now we play the waiting game. The game in which GMG or some other retailer offers a 20-25% off pre-order. Revengeance was knocked down from $20 to $16 before release on GameFly the day its Steam page went up, so it's best to be patient.

Made a comparison

Dolphin, Wii ver.

Looks like they might've dropped the cutscene DOF
Ash's sweater texture definitely higher res

Heh, I was just thinking about the original PC port of this game earlier before I saw this thread.

Definitely going to pick this up. I'd love to start playing this again, it's been too long.

Were none of the previous versions 60 FPS? Not even the PS360 version?

None have been so far. This will be the first.

Which is really surprising because it probably took a nontrivial amount of reworking. More than I'd expect for just a PC port.

Cool that we're maybe getting a 'definitive' version, and if any game needed a do-over on the PC port it was this one (or maybe DMC3).

But considering the reception of RE4 HD...I think I'll wait on this one.

I was JUST thinking about how Capcom needed to re-release this game on PC, on Steam, with controller support. Then I see this.

I've only played through this game once, on GameCube. WILL BUY this!!!

just in the highest visual quality and smoothest fluidity ever released by Capcom

Believe it when I see it, Capcom. Bio4's PC port is terribad and you'll have to prove to me you aren't doing a quickie port job to Steam to try to get some cash.

After this becomes a success, please port Okami HD to PC pls.

Viewtiful Joe is overdue for a HD version too. And God Hand, while you're at it.

Hell, why not Maximo, P.N. 03, Killer7 and BOF: Dragon Quarter while we're daydreaming.

missing DOF effect... come on Capcom... let's not leave out effects again.

I mean I will be happy with 60 fps if it's Revival Selection level of effects, but it would be a real shame.

Cool, i guess, but that price is very unreasonable for a 10 year old game.

If a game has legs, it can continue selling at high prices for a long, long time. At least on Steam you can be almost guaranteed it will go on sale pretty soon if you REALLY don't want to spend an extra $10.

Mario Kart DS is getting close to 10 years old (goddamn!) and it's still going for higher than $20 most places. Hell, Final Fantasy 6 is nearly 20 years old and still going on Mobiles for over $15.

This seems like a ripoff considering its price and a wasted opportunity. Honestly, for some reason the game in the trailer looked way worse than I remember when I first played it on GC on a CRT TV. I would hope that the subtitle "Ultimate HD" would mean an HD remake like Square Enix did for FFX/X-2 and Kingdom Hearts. :/ Then I would easily spend even 40€ but now I'll wait for the next Steam sale...

Based on the trailer it's still tank controls. Which is the way it should be.

Instead of doing all that, you can configure one of the buttons to a "win" command. At any time you're having trouble with the game, just hit the win button and you'll get taken straight to the ending.

Hopefully not.

This is meant to be the definitive edition, not the worst one!

I have no problem with this, FYI. Just curious.
