Doesn't a rebuttal have to counter my point? All that shows is that, yes, the clouds don't line up which is what I said. Remove the fade and it is easier to see:

Also, why did the leaker not screenshot the lower screen? Oh yeah, because we don't know what that looks like yet, so it won't be possible to fake convincingly.

One thing that's bothering me. One of the compelling reasons for Team Real was the "starman" that was found on Palutena's belt. But if you look at the side shot:

You can see that it's not a starman, it's just the top of one of the long, pointy charms.

This doesn't explain the other fairly original aspects of the model, and it doesn't prove that it's fake, but it was one thing that was bothering me.

I really can't say with certainty that I'm either team. History says it's fake, though.

The difference is easily explained by a warped view of the skybox, the textures are most likely on a curved polygon, so the exact placement in the default screen position may not be how they appear when the camera is moved and tilted.

I think this was already discussed, yeah it's not a starman.
 
I'm gonna go Team Fake. Simply because the chances of something leaking out of Nintendo, or something related to Nintendo leaking is next to 0. We're talking about one of the most secretive companies in the business. She might be in Smash 4, but this particular screenshot is fake to me until proven otherwise.

If it is a fake, it's a very good one, that said.
 
Consider the fact Sakurai has not commented even though he usually does and today's shot could of been a nod at the leak or just a coincidence, though unlikely.

It got pointed out to me on the last page, yeah.
 
I thought the star thing was just one or two people being mistaken. Seemed pretty apparent from the get-go that it was like the other one.

I just thought I'd try out a different style. I don't think I quite nailed it (I think it could do with a little more shading, and the posing of the hands looks wrong) but I'm quite pleased with the attempt overall.

Not sure why I chose Greninja though. I should've done Eevee or Whimsicott.

And now I kinda want to try drawing a human character. Maybe someone from my Smash Bros. wishlist...

Doesn't help that that YouTube channel reported that it was Starman without doing their own analysis.

There's 2-3 choices made I'd personally never make in my style, but otherwise it looks perfectly fine. ^^
 
It's odd. I'm excited, but not THAT excited, and Palutena is my 2nd most wanted newcomer. That is how cautious I am being.

I might be reserved and not getting my hopes up so they don't get crushed. It could be real, but she's an assist :( *knock on wood again*. It could be fake, but she's still playable!

However. I will be going all in.

I don't see the point in taking sides. If it's real, Team Real is going to act like there was some obvious sign that it was legitimate to begin with (there isn't), and if it's fake, Team Fake is going to act like it was obviously doctored from the start (we can't tell).

It does look pretty convincing, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if someone fesses up to it being a hoax.

I think there are some good signs that it's real, the most obvious one being that it uses what appear to be almost entirely new assets, and nobody has been able to find a significant flaw in the picture yet whereas every previous screenshot "leak" was proven fake very quickly.

At the same time "fake until proven real" is usually the most logical approach to these sorts of things.

I doubt we'll find out either way for a long time, because chances are Palutena won't be the next newcomer revealed, or might even end up a secret character.
 
I am still surprised it hasn't been deconfirmed after all this time on the internet. Impressive. I don't know waht to believe but I'm leaning towards fake.
