1) ridley- deserves to be in but sadly has everything going against him at the moment
2) king k rool- DK villain and a great moveset

Other than any potential KI:U characters, Little Mac and Shulk, I can't think of any newcomer I would really want at this point. I'm more interested in learning the status of veterans such as the Mother kids and Snake.
This isn't to downplay the excitement of new characters (I'm very pleased to see Villager and Mega Man), but my Mother obsession takes priority for me.

Surprised with the doubt of Ridley here. He practically seems like a shoe-in at this point... though I've heard the majority of his support comes from the Western area.
No Waliugi or Evilore? What terrible choices you have there!

I hate predicting rosters, so this is purely a wishlist based on personal motivations.
I want Ridley because Metroid needs more representation, and I would much rather have him than something like Adam. Seriously, if they put Adam in the game, I will be vastly disappointed, maybe even upset! Also, the Smash community would explode if Ridley showed up as playable.
I also want Snake, mainly to disprove all the haters that think he has no chance. Also, because when playing Smash recently (mainly Project M), my friends keep saying, "Can't wait 'til they take out Snake in the next game. He's so cheap!" Yeah, forget that! Snake was my main in Brawl, and I'd like to continue to play him! He HAS to be voiced by David Hayter, though. >_>
I want Bayonetta, 'cause of the uproar it would cause. I also love the idea of putting her in a Zero Suit (a la Samus) instead of making her nude for wicked weaves, mainly because I think the Zero Suit is ridiculous, no matter who is wearing it.
I really like the idea of giving Ganondorf a new moveset, and putting in Black Shadow to take over his old one. I love Ganondorf as a character, but I think he deserves better than being a Captain Falcon clone. However, I don't want his old moveset removed entirely as that would suck for Ganondorf mains. F-Zero also needs more representation! This is a win-win.
Mewtwo, 'cause he's a cool Pokemon and fun to play in Project M.
Reggie, because the Smash Community would explode with rage, and I think it'd be funny. Also, I like the idea of playing as a real person.

Well I'm sure the Miiverse comment regarding the Pyrosphere put a damper on things, but as seen with the Alfonso screen I'm sure even the confirmation of him as a stage hazard won't stop Ridley fans.
Personally, I really don't care about him.
Anyone else is icing on the cake.Nope. Palutena is still standing tall.
I wish Smash 4 would add Challenger approaching back in the way that it was in 64 and Melee.
I would also like back the modes that were in melee.Adventure , Classic and All-star with Race to the Finish back.
Brawl didn't have much replayability in single player aspect with long dragged out campaign that I probably will never play again.
In Melee , I would go to reset the game just to unlock everything again.

I can understand some arguments against his chances. Such as him being fitting for a stage hazard/boss fight. But considering that his size has fluctuated since the first Metroid, him being scaled down shouldn't be a problem.
The thing is... I don't care if Ridley is playable or not either. I initially only did because of the strong amount of support for him, but meh.

The only characters I really have on my "wishlist" are Little Mac and Pac-Man. (And hopefully not derpy TV Show Pac-Man, but I don't think I have to worry about it after the way Sakurai handled Mega Man.)

1) Metroid ice-themed rep. Anthony Higgs, Noxus, and Rundas are all options. Higgs would be (I think?) Smash's first black character (excluding G&W, and ganondorf is definitely Gerudo), provide several interesting Snake-style weapon movesets including his ice beam, power beam, plasma cannon, retconning in Ice Missiles, etc. Noxus could be a fun Samus clone and has some interesting movement options thanks to his Vhoscythe, not to mention he's a decidedly "good" character. Rundas has some neat recovery options, cryomancy, and a pretty straightforward human voice.
2) Kalos trainer with Chespin, Braixen and Greninja.
3) Skyward Sword Impa to replace Zelda, which would potentially give us another "toon"-style character without making it a clone. Zelda gets the Phantom sucker-punch counter.
4) Make Ganon gud.
5) Keep ROB pls

nothing too crazy as for my list goes
Simon Belmont- most important since the roster will always be incomplete without him

In no particular order and not including confirmed newcomers:
- Ridley - I like Ridley. I like the Metroid series. Ridley is a badass space dragon.
- Dark Samus - Badass. I love the Metroid Prime Trilogy greatly. Metroid Prime could be its final smash.
- Dixie Kong - She's a cute and cool monkey who can use her hair for attacks, who wouldn't want her? Glad she didn't make it into Brawl as Diddy's tag character, I think she can be a good stand-alone character. I hope Sakurai does as well.
- Palutena - One of the main characters from the Kid Icarus series. I like her as a character and could get many of her moves from Uprising.
- Shulk - I like Xenoblade. The Monado is one cool looking blade. They seem to have a spiritual successor (possibly sequel) in the works.
- Tetra - A really likable character from WW (didn't play PH or ST). She's a pirate from a major series (sorry Captain Syrup fans)! She also seems to use a dagger.
- Little Mac - The little boxer who can.
- Takamaru - He looks like a cool samurai.
- Mewtwo - Cool, badass Pokemon. Shame it didn't make it to Brawl due to time constraints.
- Blaziken (some non-Gen 1 Pokemon) - There are over 700 Pokemon as of Pokemon X/Y. In Brawl, 5 out of the 6 playable Pokemon are from Gen 1. A bit disappointing as a fan of Pokemon throughout all gens that they don't seem to be able to put in some more Pokemon. I put Blaziken on the list because it is cool and has a megalution like Mewtwo and Lucario.

KojimaKonami Co. - Pac-Man - Pac-Man is a lovable classic character and would just be fitting to have Mario, Sonic, Pac-Man, and Mega Man duke it out.
- Give Ganondorf a new moveset please. Give the old one to some F-Zero character (Black Shadow seems to have a similar body structure).
- Everyone from Brawl returning.
- Paper Mario - I really like the Paper Mario series and have played every game in the series and the whole paper mechanic would be really unique to the Smash series. I'm personally hoping that they would include a stage from the Paper Mario series.
- Bowser Jr. - Since his first appearance in Sunshine, he has been appearing throughout various games in the Mario series (NSMB series, Galaxy games, Mario Kart, and etc.). I think the character can be a nice addition to Super Smash Bros.
- Chibi-Robo - I don't much about the character other than its games involve it cleaning stuff. Saw the movset from Super Smash Flash 2, thought it was pretty cool.
- Mii - I don't really care for it, though the idea itself would be nice considering it has been their biggest "IP" the past gen.

Bomberman
Bomberman could easily have the most unique moveset with having to be cautious of his own power and not getting caught in the flames of his bombs.
Not to mention the mind games with Bomb Punch , Bomb Kick and Detonator bomb.(which could also be moved and activated instantly.) Could kick it off the stage and hit opponent that is off stage , if you time it right to explode on them.
Bomberman also has other stuff to work like his animal buddies but its entirely possible just to create moveset with him on his own.I mean he has a lot of tools spanning from across his whole series.
But Sakurai won't even consider him at all and pretty much has zero chance.
People say Megaman has it bad , Konami closed Hudson instantly as they acquired their IPs and didn't even celebrate Bomberman's 30th Anniversary.
All more believable than Ridley *ducks from thrown boot*

Oh hell, just give me a Fire Emblem Fighting Game made by Arc System Works. If Persona can get one, Fire Emblem definitely deserves one.

Pretty much my most wanted characters.
And all of them seem relatively realistic.

But seriously guys, Fire Emblem Fighting game made by Arc System Works. Full Arcade Stick support for Wii U.
It makes too much sense and would make quite a few people happy...so it won't happen.
There's only a few characters where I have a strong opinion about their inclusion. In order of how enthusiastic I am (and, luckily enough, just about in order of likelihood too, I reckon).
1) Little Mac - Probably the only character where I'll be actually disappointed if he doesn't show up. He's such an iconic NES character, and I mean absolutely iconic. I see Punch-Out!! referenced all the time in mainstream media (didn't it even come up on Family Guy once?). And then there's THIS bit of Zac Gorman art that's just so perfectly Nintendo... Mac's the only character there not to show up. He's just absolutely gotta be in there.
2) Mii - I know a lot of people just see the Mii as a generic avatar but, I've made this argument before. I play Wii Fit and StreetPass pretty much every day, and I play with my Mii. I log on to the WiiU and that little face is there. I see my Mii on Nintendo hardware more than I do Mario at this point... they're the face of modern Nintendo with HUGE moveset potential. I'd probably be disappointed to see them left out, too, to be honest.
3) Ridley - Or Anthony Higgs. I just want a friend for Samus.
4) Dixie - Donkey Kong is a franchise that needs a new character badly, and while I see the arguments for K. Rool, I'm pulling for Dixie first. She's just so, again, iconic to me. The ponytail, the helicoptering, the pink top, the little beret, it's just such a classic look to me. I'd be happy to see them both get in, though.
5) Mona - Ever since Ashley was confirmed out I've been thinking about the Wario series and, man, isn't it weird that it's only at one character? Between Land and Ware and those other little releases they're at 15+ games, same ballpark as Zelda. I like the idea of adding another rep there and Mona'd be my choice (though Captain Syrup would get me equally excited, I think). Probably not happening though.
6) Robin - Lots of potential here, and easily the most interesting choice for a new Fire Emblem character. Really hoping he/she makes it over Chrom.

The big things going into Smash 4 for me are no cuts and getting at least one of the newcomers I want. It doesn't matter too much which one.
