WTF is happening?

I've never seen Nadal like this. He doesn't even want to serve...he hast lost his faith. He is completly destroyed insinde.

Is it because Wawrinka is winning or because he is rly injured and can't make it?

He's hurt.

Wawrinka played a better first set, Nadal took an MTO 3 games into the second. since then it's been like this.

Just sad it has to end this way. Respect to Nadal for playing it out though.

Why doesn't Nadal just quit. I respect his will to not give up but he's clearly completely off. This is no way for a champion like him to be beaten.

I think in his head he knows Stan has worked so hard for this and just doesn't want to give him his first slam in such a way. Playing on as a corpse is the lesser of two evils. Both situations are shitty. Kudos to Nadal if he plays this to its conclusion.

Nadal's back seems to be just loosening up a bit - he went relatively down low to make that backhand return. Possibly anti-inflammatories kicking in?

EDIT: yeah, more kick to his serve. I think Rafa might start coming back now.

I had no idea. I wouldn't get mad at all if he steps off. He's only making his injury worse by playing too. Hope the meds kick in and give us 80% Nadal at least.

Why would a champion like Nadal throw a match just because he lost a set? He's clearly injured and playing on just to be sporting.

Yeah, no way Nadal is faking. Not against a guy he's won every set against before this. No matter how well Stan is playing, I'm sure Rafa still thought he could come back. Sucks for Stan though.

yeah, meds have definitely kicked in. Nadal's probably still going to be limited, but this should start looking somewhat more fair again.

Yeah, he's faking it because Stan played really well in the first set and was a break up. In a slam final. He just gave up. No mas, no mas!

Pretty much. I would love to see the "shot" where Nadal obtained the serious back injury. Nadal has been known to crawl into this shell before, this isn't the first time. It's just the first time he's reacted so strongly to a beat down. He's never taken a beatdown like this in a final, ever.

If Nadal wins in 5, I will be pissed, though. Stan deserved to win, but this shattered his focus.

Oh c'mon Nadal is obviously hurt. You don't throw an entire set in a grand slam final like that.

Seems like he's getting better though. Should make this match a bit more exciting to watch at least.

Oh, good god, you actually thought I was serious. Nadal has taken beatdowns in finals far worse this. Federer won the first set 6-0 in the 2006 final. Fine, you hate Nadal, but it's ridiculous to suggest he pretended to be injured because he lost the first set due to a loose service game early on. He was close to breaking back, at one point. Your train of thought is warped by hate.

Stan lost his rhythm from all this drama.........Nadal suddenly hitting normally and moving normally........lord.

Weird isn't it? It's almost like the painkillers he took have started to work and his body has loosened up. But, no, it was all part of an elaborate long con in losing the first two sets.

I'm a Nadal fan......I'm seeing plenty clear. I'm talking to someone that hasn't played and doesn't know high level tennis.

His back looked fine for the 1st set, don't take that one away from Stan. Stan probably did win the 2nd set through injury, though.
