Super Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS Thread 4: New Year, Old Arguments

Guess I hold my pad different because I find it quite easy to flick a glance at the map in MKDS and 7. I mean you are seeing a birdseye view of the race so it is possible to still see where you are going when looking at the map.

We've had two handhelds and Sony and MS experimenting with duel screens. In the grand scheme of things, the Wii U is a little hurdle, but it's failure could cause the other two to back off on taking it any further and thus we're back to single screen gaming and having to pause all the time and entering names with a moving cursor.

Wait, why Ice Climbers?

Honestly I'm not too excited about seeing them since they've pretty much hit the polygonal ceiling like Kirby and I can't see them really improving visually, unless Sakurai gets interesting and gives them a serious design revamp.

Whenever OLED starts becoming cheaper I imagine it could possible dual screen could be cheaper since they can make a bendable screen that's just one screen instead of two (like the 2DS). Doubt it's going to happen but it's an interesting thought. I'd love if the next Nintendo handheld had OLED as by then the tech would be more mature.

So, having lost track of the Daily Pics some time in October; I've just read through the last two treads to catch up. This last week or so has been the most interesting bit of it all though; is anyone else surprised that Sakurai seems to be, like, deliberately referencing the leaks? What with how tight lipped Nintendo usually are I figured he wouldn't be allowed. Is he literally allowed to just post whatever pics he wants with no oversight?

We're getting the Ice Climbers tonight, Palutena in a Direct next week, and Diddy Kong on February 13. You heard it here first! My skinny jeans never lie.

Oh!! Its the Anniversary of Ice Climbers, huh?? I remember when it was suggested as a potential reveal date. Time flew by!

I suddenly am anticipating Ice Climbers haha dang it. I wish I was caught off guard, if it happens.

Edit: 29th Anniversary!

But their fur may be extra fluffy now!*

*or completely shit like DK's fur.

Only reason people think Ice Climbers will have an anniversary reveal is because they are unlikely to have a reveal tied to a game launch. I mean they could have done it with NES Remix but didn't and I doubt they are getting a Wii U game to boost Wii U sales.

Did you spying on me in IRC chat!?! I said exactly same thing like an hour and half ago. But I mentioned that I don't think it's possible since I know Sakurai probably not going for three characters in row (3 weeks in row)

We will see how it goes.

Also Link is our Peter Pan now! I noticed that Link's face reminded me of Peter Pan.

Nintendo has an investor's meeting shortly, right?

Instead of talking about finances or whatever garbage the attendees expect, I think Iwata will just walk to the front, gesture his hand to a project that shows Palutena, then leave.

Iwata is a CEO, not a miracle worker!

Yeah, 47 minutes to go. I don't expect any announcement but I'm curious what Iwata had to says to investors.

I think Palutena is staying (officially) under wraps until release and will be one of the game's hidden characters--which is precisely the reason that Sakurai continues to troll. He knows people are going to latch on to every single thing he posts about her, and I think he's going to milk it for as long as he can...and enjoy every minute of it.

I think "Sakurai" has just become a loving colloquiallism for the Smash team at this point. Nobody means to attribute absolutely everything to him.

Well, I certainly do. He spoke about Brawl's development at GDC(?) and went into detail about how he personally designed every character's moveset, hitboxes, damage parameters, and so on. Absolutely every aspect of this game falls under his scrutiny and is included or excluded solely based on his discretion. I don't think it's a stretch to say that he is responsible for everything we see in the final product.

P.S. dat Alfonzo meme tho

I think sometimes we get new release dates/windows from the investor briefings, so that's a possibility. I doubt we're gonna hear about Smash though, this is the kind of game where they have the curate the marketing very carefully.

Too round, would not main in Smash.

People hate on Ice Climbers cause they suck at DI and SDI, don't know how to escape chaingrabs, and don't know how to desync.

Wobbling is really situational and only Wobbles has been legitimately consistent at Wobbling.

Fly Amanita using Falco lasers to desync his Ice Climbers, 2015 shit.
#SoPo game is way too strong.

Because the dumb characters from some game I never even heard of are taking up a slot that could be used for my favorite obscure Mario/Zelda/Pokemon/DBZ character!!!

For me, it's not so much that they are obscure, as it is that their one game is really, really terrible. Probably the worst first party NES game along with urban champion.

Also, the infinite chain grab to KO.

Better them than jigglypuff though.

I keep looking at a 3DS, but the only game that seems to appeal to me, is Zelda - but is that enough to throw down $340...Although the with MH4 coming, maybe - still need convincing though.
