Like someone already beat me to it, but I'm pretty sure that we are getting Wario on Motorcycle for the reveal.
Is Smash seriously going to release in the Fall? What about that Nintendo guy from Germany who said Spring? Or the May 17th date that was on Newegg? Sakurai denied the Spring date though... Why are there no games (first party) for Wii U in March or April? The wait for Smash is going to kill me. This whole time I've stuck by the belief that Smash will release in May or June but now that MK8 comes out in May, I just don't know.

As far as release date NOW given MK8's release, I hope August. I'm sure they're gonna make it their holiday game now though. I wish they did a demo or something for it to appease us during the wait (and maybe drive some Wii U sales they desperately need...heh? Heh?)

Um exCUSE me Sakurai but CLEARLY the best choice for Smash Bros would be my fav niche character HOWEVER you are clearly INCOMPETENT and
I believe the leaked picture is real and the statue picture is fake. The leaker hacked Sakurai's Miiverse account and posted a fake to throw people off.
These were all shot down even before Sakurai spoke up. Placeholders and speculation, all of it.

It's possible that they decided to delay Smash 4 because they still need more time to working on the game. I would rather to see them finishing the game on their own term instead of being rushed.
I hope so, but it's possible that we mightn't get one.
If we didn't get Nintendo Direct next week, then I can see this schedule happening
Jan 30 - Ice Climbers
Feb 13 - Diddy Kong
Late Feb ND - Palutena
March - Yoshi (It's possible but more likely to be summer 2014 due to japanese release date.)
April - ????
May - Wario (Mario Kart)
Yeah, if Mario Kart was March-April there might have been a shot at Spring, but now I'm thinking August-September is optimistic, November-December at the latest (presuming no delays). And of course there's always the possibility of Wii U being released in August and 3DS for Christmas or something along those lines.
Get ready to have your QoL improved.

To be fair, there's nothing else relating to the Ice Climbers that would make a great timing to reveal them. Except maybe Tropical Freeze haha.

If it was coming out in Spring, they would have announced it by now
Only to have it delayed until next Spring.
I got this crazy idea of a new vs mode (geared possibly more towards the 3DS version) where you select your character's personal inventory of items before the match and fight another player with their own item selection.
During the match, you can press on the touch screen to use the item (haven't decided yet which would work.... either the item would spawn near your character... or activate/held instantly)
Some random ideas/variations:
-you have a finite number of items: items have different amounts of points and take up more or less space in your inventory (e.g. hearts take up more space than smaller food items)
-items can be used infinitely: they have a cooldown period after use ("stronger" items cooldown is longer than "weaker" items)
-you can start the match with an item in your hand
Not only do you play your character, but you also have your own weapons/items. You play Bowser and he's too slow? (try putting rabbit ears in your inventory - X Factor lol) About to get KO'd by a killing hit? (activate the star for invincibility). Need to mix your recovery up? (use the umbrella).
The combinations and customization is endless!

Ahahaha. Yeah, I'm not confident that Sakurai is even aware of when Ice Climbers' Japanese anniversary is... it's not exactly an important event.

When else do you announce Ice Climbers? Didn't Marth's reveal coincide with FE's anniversary or am I remembering wrong?
If Smash 4 is playable at the Best Buy public E3 demos (if they do it this year), I will totally wait in line for 2-3 hours again.
They just need to release more demos period.
Bayonetta would definitely be surprising. Maybe a two for one Platinum reveal with Wonder Red leading in and Bayonetta coming in for support when he's outnumbered.
That would win e3 right there especially if they were both fighting wait for it.....ridley.

I thought Marth's reveal was totally random. If I'm wrong and it was on FE's anniversary, then okay, I'll believe that the Ice Climbers could be revealed tonight to coincide with their game's anniversary.
Otherwise, I just figured the Ice Climbers would be a random reveal, like Captain Falcon or Wario.
It would be pretty great if the Ice Climbers WERE revealed tonight, but it had nothing to do with their anniversary... just a fun coincidence.

The first FE game featuring Marth was released on 4/20 (same date as the best game ever), so it seems like his reveal was unrelated to the series.
