Super Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS Thread 4: New Year, Old Arguments

Great to see Lucario back, he was one of my mains in Brawl, such a fun character.

I also expect Mewtwo to return because
1) He's popular and,
2) Gen 6 didn't have a 'posterboy' sort of character like Lucario and Zoroark were for gens 4 and 5, and instead used Mega Mewtwo and Mega Lucario.

Depends upon what you want. There is a lot of circumstantial evidence within Brawl's data files that indicate Mewtwo and Roy were farther in development than Wolf, but were inexplicably left incomplete. People point towards Sonic's delay as being the cause.

Not really.
I liked him in Brawl but I could not understand why he just had to be there. Good for people who wanted him though.

Welp, I'll have to have more patience for Chrom and Palutena.

Do we have any confirmation that actual secret characters will remain a secret? I kind of got spoiled on the brawl dojo and nothing was a secret. :/ going off the internet will be hard seeing as it will be ALL OVER THE INTERNET
 
Just realized that today is the 6 year anniversary of Brawl in Japan, so that's why Sakurai made the additional comment about the Brawl team's hard work.

Who know. Some people are speculating that we might not have unlockable characters this time.
 
I knew it, I saw no reason for Lucario to be cut. He gained a mega evolution since then, and people have to realise that there are more people playing pokemon now who've played pokemon diamond/pearl than there are who've played red/blue.

Besides, if Mewtwo came back and Lucario left, it was going to be four gen 1 representitives (Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Mewtwo, Pokemon Trainer).

Jigglypuff isn't getting cut. I'm sticking to my original prediction:

Personally I'm believing that we might not get unlockable characters this time around. One of the reasons for that is Sakurai's statement about the SSE stuff, that people would just watch the cutscenes online and don't enjoy unlocking secrets like that anymore.
 
I just realized that, counting DK, over a quarter of the revealed characters are from the Mario universe, and Lucario is the only new representative from the Pokemon universe since E3 despite having the second-most amount of playable characters in Brawl.

At least we're likely to get some more franchise variety for the next few reveals.

Next is gonna be Diddy.

I like it. Replace Anna with a Paper Mario character (I'd prefer it not to be PM himself), Shulk with Knuckles, make Diddy/Dixie a tag team and then add K Rool and it's exactly what I'm hoping for.


Edit- although in my wildest of dreams, Spyro would be in.

Personally, I never thought he would be (I don't think there will be any cuts beyond Snake if Konami says No), but I always conceded that he is one of the most likely cuts.

haha well that is better, Kinda wish sakurai would have revealed mewtwo first so people wouldnt be so down on him.
 
Lucario was the gunman on the grassy knoll that shot President Mewtwo.

Sonic was framed.
