PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4/PSP) | February 2014

Okay, I started playing TitS while waiting for Toukiden.

Anything I should know before I start?

Are there missable items/quests/etc that I should take note of?

Is there an NG+?

I should also mention that I want to complete everything in a single playthrough if possible.

Heads up to my sworn brothers. (
By that, I mean VitaGAF with JP accounts lol

MAQL's Winter Sale is now live. Some of their PSP games on the JP PS Store are at 50% off. It ends on Feb 26.

http://game.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/20140127_632590.html

It coincides with the Fate/Extra CCC PSP The Best release. There's also some packs, including the Fate/Extra + Fate/Extra CCC pack (3300 yen - slightly cheaper than buying them separately during sale).

I'm all ready to buy Fate/Extra pack. And quite tempted for Yuusha30 pack.

Aaaaaand... I should definitely buy Criminal Girls already.

I was this close to buy the Ikkitousen double pack for 1300 yen. But then I only have like 600 yen left on my account.

I hope we get a release date for Dynasty Warriors 8 Vita soon. I need this game. Just reading up about it makes me want it so much.

I heard that the Vita version had serious framerate issues? Can anbody confirm that?

Yeah me too. Some reviewers call it the second coming of Dynasty Warriors 3 which is my favorite Dynasty Warrior game.

Did they really say it? Actually DW3 is my favorite DW title as well so if it's true that DW8 comes close to it again I would definitely want to play it.

There are sort of quizzes that factor into your bracer rank. This is important for your clear save and when the sequel is released as you get a few more items rewarded. Not a real big deal but it's easy enough to miss getting the highest possible score without a guide.

There is ng+

Yeah, I think at least this guy said it.

I'll take note of that. :D

Does anything transfer to NG+?

Also, does TitS have any relations to the previous Legend of Heroes games? I'm considering finding my PSP again for those.

Has anyone in this thread played Firemen 2? Not exactly a huge release but I've always wanted to play one of those games. Heard the first one was better, though.

Legend of Heroes VI/VII (Sora/Zero/Ao/Sen) are in a same continent with own lore. The previous three is known as Gagharv Trilogy taking place in their own world. Finally there Dragonslayer which started the Legend of Heroes. All three are not directly connected or related for that matter.

I always thought that by playing Sonic ASRT on normal I'd only miss unlocking some characters. But no, now I need some more stars to get through a route lock. Great.

Do the "go through hoops" plane missions, and the "be the last survivor in the race" missions. Those are the easiest I think.

Tits takes about 10hrs before it really starts to get good.

Between Uncharted and Persona 4 and realising all my psone and psp games work on my Vita my 64gb card can not arrive quick enough

And The Drop for this week has been posted.

  • Adam’s Venture Chronicles (PS3) - This appears to be a compilation of three older games, which are based on material from the Christian Bible. The original episode was released in 2009, with the second following in 2011 and the third in 2012. It's a third-person action/adventure game which has puzzles that involve the text of the Bible. I'm categorically uninterested in this.
  • Dustforce (PS3/PSV) - 2D platforming with sanitation workers. Looks cute, but is not cross-buy. This is part of the PSV promotion, along with Olli Olli, Dragon Ball Z, and TxK, so buying at least two of these games earns you a small credit on your account.
  • Gex: Enter the Gecko (PS3/PSV/PSP) - This is a great old PS1 title, with some awesome one-liners from forgotten comic Dana Gould. There are some frustrating parts, and I never quite finished it, but still a fun game. ("Uh, has anyone seen Fox Mulder's sister?" on the SF-themed levels. "Sure, I can play this level, but I'll just want another one in an hour," for the Chinese-themed level.)
  • King Oddball (PSV) - This is a mobile game that's being brought over from iOS/Android to the PSV. You are a flying chunk of rock trying to end the world with other rocks, or something like that. Think Angry Birds where you throw the rocks with your tongue and destroy tanks and other military stuff, as well as buildings.
  • The LEGO Movie Video Game (PS3/PS4/PSV) - A game based on a movie based on a line of somewhat popular toys. Also not cross-buy.
  • Outlast (PS4) - A first-person survival horror game originally released on Windows in 2013. You're a journalist tracking down a tip you got about an insane asylum. Looks like it could be fun, and is free with US PS+ this month. (Has about an 80% on Metacritic/GameRankings, for the previous PC version.)
  • Surge Deluxe (PSV) - A block-matching game from the same company that brought you Velocity Ultra a few weeks ago. Originally released on PlayStation Mobile.
  • Trapt (PS3) - This is a PS2 classic in the same vein as the Deception trilogy originally released on the PS1. I have it, and it was fun for an hour or two, but I never really got into it like I did Deception and Kagero on the PS1. Still a fun diversion for a bit.
  • Truck Racer (PS3) - I know this will come as a complete shock to most of you, but in this game you can race trucks. Yes, it's true. If it's the game from Bigben Interactive, then it's a PC-port of a game that then came to the Xbox 360 in late 2013 and finally is on the PS3. Has 2-player local and 4-player online modes.

If Adam's Venture Chronicles makes use of the Bible in a critical or historical fashion rather than a theological one, I might be interested.

I've been having a lot of fun with it. The touch minigames are awful though

Yeah I could do without those. I hate games that incorporate stuff like that without any other reason than "let's show what this is capable of!". Some games do it well but most of the time it's gross. But aside from that it's pretty fun.

Any good Vita/Playstation podcasts?

Doddcast is good. They talk about all the systems but Vita gets a lot of love.

I thought Strider was supposed to come out on PS3/PS4 this month? I was looking forward to that a lot. It was giving me Bionic Commando feels but last time I felt that, I got burned with an ultra hard and unintuitive game. But Strider, it looks ultra responsive. And I want it.

Ouh, Dustforce, that's a pretty damn good game as well

Considering double dipping

I just broke my Dynasty Warriors cherry by playing a bit of free Next on my Vita. I don't know what was going on, but I mashed square alot and won.

I might stick with it for a bit, but is there anything I need to know as someone who knows nothing about the series?

I think DBZ is selling well on Vita in North America:

(The store doesn't like Ridge Racer Vita and won't let me load the page)
Well, one version is the same game on a different system and half off. It's the half off part that's important. Ratings still mean absolutely nothing by the way. The number the amount of people vote by are random and indicative of nothing. For example, I go into the Vita store and rate stuff all the time, because it's much much much faster to get to than on the PS3. The PS4 has rating stars right on the games Live Tiles.

On a different note, I need a game to play during the Super Bowl because my gaming system got hijacked for the game. I want to buy Sparkle, that Zuma rip, and it's $6. Do games as low as $6 ever go on sale?

Remember to press triangle and circle every now and then. We also have a community thread if you have questions.

Yep. But a game that cost $6 needs to be on sale? You can wait it to be free on plus as well.

Sparkle is a very nice game, and worth every cent.

Good. Bought. I just needed someone to say something positive about the game since I hadn't heard anything from anyone about it. Next up is Dustforce, Surge Deluxe, and TxK. Then FFX HD. Jeez Vita... I want to clear my backlog not make more.

Yeah I never remember games that low going on sale often. And ha, I'm not falling to that foolish trap. I think Sony would rather give away PSP games that give away premier indie games and devalue all of them at one time.

I knew I shouldn't have done it to myself, I didn't even have the space on my memory card, 'hold out, it's attached to your account you can save it'. In the end I gave in and downloaded DW Next. Goodbye tens, if not hundreds, of hours of my life.

More and more lately, Ive been too lazy to sit in front of my PS3/PS4. So I pick up the Vita. Anyone do the same?

I feel the same all the time. Best thing about the vita is the pickup and play nature of it. Press a button and you are playingng in 3 seconds. No bullshit.

To be fair though, the PS3 version has a retail release while the Vita version doesn't. There's also the PSVita Play promotion, and the PS+ discount.

Granted, though it's still a matter of a 10:1 difference. It's nice to see.

EDIT: ADDITIONALLY, would anyone be interested in playing KZ:M online sometime? I'm really tired of joining sub-4 person lobbies.
