PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4/PSP) | February 2014

You need to wait for the store to fully update typically

Not ready yet. Later today it will be free.

It's happens
every
sometimes. PS+ offerings/discounts are always the last thing to go live. Wait until they do the blog post about the store update to make sure.

Sounds like your PS+ subscription has lapsed...

j/k. Sometimes the PS+ part of the update takes awhile to show up... just cause the game is up doesn't mean it has the proper PS+ flags for free or discount. It's not technically a problem until the blog post is up and the store update is "officially live".

Slowdown in Dustforce? Guess I don't have to worry about buying it then.

noted, thank you people for your response.

I'm noticing slowdown on Dustforce. I am not amused.

Less money to spend the better. Gonna look out for some more impressions but you definitely just saved my ass from buying it right now. Unacceptable for a game that looks like that to have slowdown/fps issues.

I'm still getting my ass kicked trying to complete all the goals in OlliOlli but have slowed down on that since the trophies are all bugged.

That's exactly what I wanted with MH -- something like boss rush from Dark Souls.

Then I played it.

It was way too slow. Each weapon had a very limited moveset with some weapons playing very similar to each other from what I experienced in the tutorials... adding in the blade sharpness and stuff... it wasn't for me. I found it very boring and not to be what I hoped, especially in what I considered to be the lack of variety. And not enjoying the combat made me drop the game in the blink of an eye.
Well what I meant by DkS vs DMC is that DkS has a smaller moveset pool and you need to be calculating in every attack or suffer major consequences, where DMC you can go slash happy with a variety of high hit-count combos and jump/dash around to evade quickly. Both have their merits and require skill but I was comparing the style of action gameplay.

I disagree that the weapons play similarly in MH though. I can't think of any melee weapons that have a moveset similar enough that it would cause you to play in the same way. The thing with the lower move count though is that every move has its use and place in a fight, whereas in faster paced games it might not matter what attacks you use as long as they fit within the window of opportunity.

What I completely agree with you on and understand though is that MH isn't instantly fun. Faster paced style hunting games throw you into it right away and you can easily adapt due to the leniency and similarity to other action games. MH has a long long learning curve (10+ hours) your first time and boring tutorial fights at the beginning. But even 20% into the content though you'll be fighting nothing but large monsters for every mission. Honestly considering your action game preferences, 60fps advocacy, and platting of them I think you would enjoy MH if you ever gave it another try and got past the initial hurdle. Not to plug myself here but if you take advantage of the invincibility frames on dodges you can find the gameplay faster and more skill based http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YHwF24cwfk&feature=player_detailpage#t=55

Please elaborate. I was looking forward to this game :/
Are you only playing the demo?
No. I'm not the authority on fps, actually take me with a grain of salt, but it's definitely not running at a solid 60fps. Or 30fps. Which ever it is, it's not smooth. It jitters like once every 30 seconds. And I can't tell if it's the game itself or the framerate but it all feels like it's running at 20fps or something.

Unless you really wanted on the Play Sale, yeah... Nah.

Shit...oh well just saved me some cash. Hopefully it can be patched later. Persona FES only then. Can't beat that 5 dollar mark. Hoping to play this before I dive into P4G later on.

Damn, I was moments away from buying it too. Guess I'll wait and hope for a patch. :/

Thanks for the heads up though.

Fucking noooooooooooo.

Need more impressions!

the framerate in dust force really is distracting.

fun game but yeah there should be a warning to anyone on the fence

edit:this is my first experience with the game but all my friends have said the steam version was amazing-

Bah...I assume Vita?

Yeah, on Vita. Should have clarified.

how bad is it?

You would think a low fidelity game like dustforce would run smooth on everything....

Not every level seems to have it so far, but it's definitely noticeable. Just running around in the City hub the slowdown is pretty bad.

Please elaborate. I was looking forward to this game :/

Full version on Vita.

What is the deal with the lack of quality and just straight up broken shit they are releasing on this sale?

OlliOlli crashes, Trophies are borked apparently, lacking features + terrible UI design choices.
Now Dustforce is suffering from game crippling slow-down and who knows what other issues people are going to run into.

Disappointing.

well the game was just released can't we get a hold of the developers on twitter? maybe they can patch the framerate thing-like someone else said-it's not every level -

really like the music in the game

Why is there a bottom row of solid gray pixels on Vita Dustforce (trial)? Why does the audio intermittently cut out?

Is anyone else having trouble signing into the playstation store online or on their mobile?

Won't sign me in on either. Have yet to pick up outlast because of it

Oh, the audio cutting out is actually the game? I thought it was my wireless headset having interference. Damn, I'm pretty disappointed. I hope they can patch this game because it's awesome at its core.

Yikes.

Oh, so that's happening in the full version too.
Well I'm definitely staying away.

Just played the dustforce demo myself. Didn't have either of these two issues.

But the framerate is bad and there's a lot of slowdown, yeesh. Quality control, Sony. This game part of a promotion...

Edit: Not all levels are bad actually. The first forest level is bad but then the second level is totally fine.

Edit 2: Now level 3 is worse than 1, yuck yuck.

Wish I tried the demo before letting my excitement get the better of me. I'm pretty disappointed.

Ugh great the damn store doesn't work. Again. Why the hell do you do maintenance during the day new stuff comes out. Do it the night before. I can't even log in on the web store.

You guys have just saved me money on Dustforce - a damn shame, the game is incredible on Steam - this is going to sour a lot of people :(

What?
How is this even possible
Well,
Relies on the sticks to make movements like climbing up, and the double jump isn't as responsive as it should be IMO. Plus I hate having to use the shoulder buttons to dash or run.
Nailed it. It relies on hard diagonals for anything vertical. Instead of up for going up, you have to press forward up, to go up. Which basically rules out the D-Pad for a game that relies completely on digital, binary movements.

A tiny itty-bitty hyperbolic. But I agree completely.

I'm so mad. I was really looking forward to Dustforce. Just played some of the trial, and the platforming, style, and mechanics are amazing, but the framerate is unacceptable.

Oh, also, I thought the dpad felt great while playing. Don't know what you guys are talking about. I thought the it was stick-only from that one post so I was happy to see that dpad works and works great.

There are things I like. But there are a lot of things I don't like. And I don't want to spend that amount of time to get to the "good part" only to find out I dislike it more than I like it.

LIke, if the player character moved at the speed of a sprint all the time? I might find it more bearable that the weapon moveset was so limited. But things like the sharpness decreasing weapon effectivness, the monster's ability to run away so you have to chase it, etc... those things bug me too much.

Dustforce controls like total dogshit too. What a mess.

As noted above, it's a bad port, it seems.

You guys have just saved me money on Dustforce - a damn shame, the game is incredible on Steam - this is going to sour a lot of people :(

Exactly. Thank you brave consumers who wasted $8 on Dustforce so I know NOT to buy it.

Is Resogun leaving Plus?

I bought a PS4 on Amazon but won't have it until 1 or 2 weeks. I have a Plus code but I can't redeem it from the website :(

Same here. Didn't have any problems at all with the dpad.
