and people will still buy this demo for $40. We deserve the industry we have.
Dat Konami theft!
No f**king way am I paying more than $10 for a 4-hour game.
Nope nope nope nope nope.
Is that South Park, Titanfall, Donkey Kong and Dark Souls 2 I hear? Why look at you and all your lovely value! I think I'll be buying you guys! Yes I will! Yes I will! Who's a good game? You Are! Yes you are! Not like THAT 4-HOUR BULLSHIT!
It is a full game still that is separately released and that is a prologue to another game![]()
.It looks like a full separate game. So I'd say around the same length of MGS2 or MGS3 and not the length of their prologues. Prologue does not mean short. You guys have misconceptions regarding the term "prologue". A whole game can be a prologue to another game.
Timed stealth missions are even worse. Probably the single worst piece of game design in the entire industry.

They can, but it doesn't mean everyone has to agree with the practice.
Looks like I'll wait for a price drop.
poor guyToraShiro definitely is.
I don't understand why a 4-5 hour main mission (whatever that means) for $40 dollars is that outrageous.
Gone Home was on many GOTY lists and it was a 1-2 hour interactive story with zero game play that sold for $20.
The MGS2 Substance missions were all timed and they serve as a display of excellent stealth mechanics. Do not approach MGS like a Chaos Theory or Thief. MGS doesnt play at the same speed.
r.i.p, a trueI wonder if Batzi was actually like The Boss, maybe we need to rethink his mission and why he perished for it.
Every short, highly cinematic aaa retail game released in the last 6 to 8 years. The type of game I wait to buy used no matter how good the review score. I'm referring to the trend of defending extremely short games with no replay value based upon the fact that they are 'memorable'. It's the value proposition debate in general. I firmly believe that more content or inventive to replay is essential to any 60 dollar purchase but I feel like I'm in the minority these days. Which is why I'm puzzled by the hate I'm seeing here.
r.i.p, a trueshill
I thought that Gone Home was a waste of my time and money. So there you go. I'm setting you up on the path to understanding other people's view.

Reasoning like this is why games like Sin and Punishment and Sonic Generations did poorly, people looked at the hours and not at the quality of the game itself.
Of course I have no idea if Metal Gear V will be an amazing high quality game, but to judge it purely on the amount of hours to beat the game is crazy.
The problem is that those games have lots of incentive for replay. Even without playing it, that's a lot harder to justify for a prologue to a much larger game, especially when the prologues in MGS tend to be a lot more limited than the rest of the game.

The 40 minutes it takes me to beat Sonic 3 or Sonic and Knuckles are the most entertaining, polished, 40 minutes one could ask for.
I doubt they care.konami pr is probably tearing its hair out looking at this thread

Anyone who knows MGS (those already set on buying this game) understand the value of replayability.community managers dude
Gears of war, Kane and lynch 2, darkness 2, batman Arkham asylum.dead space 2. I can go on. Every aaa game with tacked on multiplayer or collectables. I'm sensing some hostility and an incoming verbal lashing here. Maybe I'm wrong.Name a couple of notable ones.
2 hours is mentioned nowhere in the original article.
I know it's Kotaku, but it's Jschreirer:

Jason's saying the article specifically states 2 hours for the main campaign.

Anyone overreacting about 4 hours most likely wasn't going to get the game anyway. It happens all the time here. Reacting for the sake of reacting.
