Super Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS Thread 4: New Year, Old Arguments

By introducing the worst thing ever: Limited beam ammo. It's incredible how much more I could enjoy the game after I cheated unlimited beam ammo.

To be fair, they were extremely generous with ammo pickups in that game, especially once you get the Annihilator Beam, you can just use that to kill everything since they'll drop both ammo types. Too bad it comes so late in the game.

( im not really upset if that isn't clear )
Hahaha this is amazing

You made that comic, Village? It's been shown before I never knew that. I always thought it was funny lol

That Sami model looks good, but those are such awful character choices. I'd imagine they're intentionally going with characters who have no chance whatsoever at being playable in SSB4.

Which is brilliant imo if it's true. More Smash is good. Catering more to the fan base will ensure more people are still going to play this game post Smash 4's release. They already gave us Roy and Mewtwo; characters who may not make it into the newest game. If this is their plan I will gladly still play Project M for a long time. I can't get over how fantastic that Sami model looks.

Well, shit. Earlier I was saying that I didn't like how Project M changed some of Brawl's stages. In comes hackers to save the day!

http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=20291.0

This guy made a hack that includes every single stage from Smash 64, Melee, Brawl, and Project M all into one! Well, except for Mario Bros. and Hanenbow, but no one cares about those.

Gotta love the Smash community.

EDIT: Just noticed that it lets you use Custom Stages, while Project M couldn't. Awesome!

in light of today's controversy I've decided to prove that a gif of the day doesn't have to be a ridiculous combo

instead, lets enjoy the greatest read of all time

WHO DOES THAT

combos will return soon I swear

That OG Kanye Rest though. Mang0 the premier puff player vs Armada at Genesis. Iconic.

What if during one of these Pic of the Days, the planned released part at the bottom of the main page gets stealth updated to an actual release date? Hmmmmmm?

You know there is only one solution to that, right?

Now you're in charge of checking that area every day for a stealth edit and informing us if it has changed.

Good Luck!

I severely doubt this would ever happen without a Nintendo Direct or some similar significant event

Yeah me either, but I love what-if questions! :P

Well...I guess so D:

Although anyone might catch it so it is fair game.

Even better

A stealth delay ala Sonic in Brawl!

I still feel that pain ; _ ;

We all do man, we all do......

I wonder if theres ever been a daily pic where sakuria screwed up and posted something important when he wasent suppose to.

I have question I thought you guys might like to talk about!

What if Smash Bros. releases this year as planned, and everything is great.

What if E3 of next year Nintendo announces their new "unified OS" console and portable for release in 2016.

Assuming that all internal developers would probably know about these consoles before this year ends, do you guys see them porting these two games to those consoles as launch titles? Like a "definitive" edition type thing?

It would still be "Smash Bros. For [New Console]" and still work. Maybe with new features. What do you guys think? Just some food for thought haha

so, Tomb Raider Super Smash Bros 4: Definitive Edition?
sounds cool, could also be a balance patch/upgrade like in Street Fighter/Marvel

This would be interesting. If it had some balance updates and maybe a slight roster/stage update then I'd be down for it. A good idea to bring in the eventual console for Nintendo.

Good question! I think that the next console Nintendo has in mind will be radically different from what we've seen so far, like way out there. Whether that will be good or bad will remain to be seen. However, Nintendo does have a strong history of maintaining backwards compatibility within its hardware. On the other hand, Nintendo's remakes are spaced out by many years, not ~3 like we may see in this case.

The only way I see that happening is, oddly enough, through a Smash anthology or something like that. That doesn't seem likely, however.

You're totally right! I completely forgot about that. That might be a different story then! They might hesitate doing so because it already could be played on possible BC on the console.

But I can kinda see them getting around this by releasing an "ultimate edition" with updated roster, balance, and added controls!

Or worst case: Wii U development is canceled, Smash is canceled, moved to next Nintendo console, risks being canned forever.

This is my fear. :( a delay that pushes it to Summer 2015 where the new consoles are announced.

I dunno, given the Wii U's architecture is its biggest flaw wrt developers trying to port things to it, I expect Nintendo would abandon it for an x86 architecture like the other guys (if scaled back; as much as I'd love for them to pull out all the stops a la Sony, I wonder if they can afford to at this point). This would have issues for backwards compatibility, as both Sony and Microsoft have so kindly illustrated, but honestly, the Wii U is selling so little, I have to wonder if consumer demand for backwards compatibility with it in the next Nintendo console will really be that big of a thing.
