If they are blocking Melee to promote Smash 4, the competitive scene is DEFINITELY going to shut out embracing the new one.
They'll full on boycott it.![]()
You're right, ST is the better example.
That's fair. But I think for that to happen, there needs to be something new to fill that niche. No one makes competent Smash knock offs (nice try though Sony, maybe next time), and Nintendo doesn't put out competitively comparable sequels.
cant feign inorance, we know why we want SS impa, we all do![]()
The average Smash discussion.
Ah, so business as usual.you can find where it started:
...because magic time ninja?

I would love this actually.
Haha, well played. You're definitely right on that point.I'd rather wait for the game to be out to judge it.![]()
There should've been an actual fight fight between the two.I would love this actually.

I will kill all newcomers not named Isa Jo, Hades, or Shulk with my bare hands, until we get one of listed newcomers.
I'll take Bayonetta or Wonder Red as well

Entered that thread right after I posted this. Here I was thinking my way of thinking was ingenious.
But to reply, little Jimmy and Nana wouldn't be watching a fighting game tournament though and I don't believe Nintendo is in a position to ignore a pretty vocal part of their fanbase of this game, as small as it may be. That a game has a dedicated group of players doesn't mean other people will stop buying it. Call of Duty has a ton of tournaments with hardcore players but that doesn't keep Jimmy and Nana messaging me that they've been sleeping with my mom.
The people who bought the Wii for Wii Sports probably wouldn't buy Smash Brothers anyway. It seems to me that the game is marketed towards teens and pre-teens. As long as the game is flashy and they manage to get the content to be popular on Youtube and other media, I think the casuals might get interested too.
I'd rather have this Impa design.

....nobody's already decided to not play SSB4
although I suspect the competitive community is approaching this game a lot more cautiously after Brawl
But the only thing wrong with Brawl has been confirmed to be gone (tripping).

So no footage, then?

Prepare to get shat on by people who felt Brawl was too slow and didn't use the ingame option to fix it (increasing the Damage Ratio). But the only thing wrong with Brawl has been confirmed to be gone (tripping).
I just watched that, too. I mean, that was a cool block but I'm personally not all that excited for a possible Smash appearance.
Her design is cool, though.
Hehe, I remember at one point building a stage builder level that was enclosed, with walls and spike on both sides, with a big flat part in the middle. Turned the gravity on high, damage ratio up, I think played lighting mode and turned on stamina (so limited health). It was actually sort of a fun diversion for a while.Prepare to get shat on by people who felt Brawl was too slow and didn't use the ingame option to fix it (increasing the Damage Ratio).
No the problem with Brawl is that you were punished for going on the offensive, tripping was just the most obvious sign of that. But the only thing wrong with Brawl has been confirmed to be gone (tripping).

They should of had air tripping during recovery moves.
if tripping was the only thing wrong with Brawl, it would have just been overlooked as an annoying yet ultimately harmless occurrence
but due to everything else in that game, it's sort of become the face of everything that was wrong with it

Not really. OoT I feel is the best. Not too fond of Padawan Impa
she is a shieka, possibly the first shieka, she would be like shiek cept even better, other things shes done in the game is done offscreen, she has protected and saved zelda from enemies and you can sometimes see the result of that going through the game (majority of the time they're ahead of you)I just watched that, too. I mean, that was a cool block but I'm personally not all that excited for a possible Smash appearance.

I might get burned at the stake for this but I would imagine that if she was actually a character, she would probably take on Sheik's moveset. Or at least become a spiritual successor of it.
As a comment, not as a criticism, these statements make me think of people in yugioh who claim maxx c, effect veiler, and trap cards reduce overly aggressive play and are bad for the game.
This is an opinion held only by short-sighted people who over-extend.
So when I think of "punishing the offensive" I most probably think of something different than you are, as I see slower play as a good thing due to being from a game where being overly fast is a side of degeneration.
TL;DR: When I say something as a retort, it's usually because my mind has been molded by a different game, so future apologies when I say something irredeemably stupid as a knee-jerk reaction
If not for tripping and balance Brawl wouldn't be shunned as much as it is by competitive players.
When you get good at the game, the incredible unbalance of its roster (especially Meta Knight, who resides in his own tier) legitimately makes the game less enjoyable.
Also I'm fairly convinced the only difference between casual players and competitive players is the amount of time they've put into the game. Most competitive players started as casual players but after hundreds of hours, items get old, crazy stages get old, the excitement of winning and outplaying your opponent becomes more prominent, and the unbalance begins to show.
As long as Smash 4 has decent balance it should be able to co-exist rather well with Melee/PM. It won't replace it because it absolutely will not be as good of a competitive game (and will be different, and won't provide the unique competitive experience of Melee), but it should end up being a solid game, provided we don't have any more Brawl-tier Meta Knights and things like grab infinites.
In an unexpected turn of events it was just announced that Nintendo will be streaming EVO.
Friday wouldn't disappoint right?

just joking
.....yeah, these are fighting games not card games
I would love this actually.
Maybe?sakurai won't do it.
realistically, i expect sheik, and ganondorf.
IS IMPA AND GHIRAHIM TOO MUCH TO ASK SAKURAI!?
