Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, Spring 2026

Didn't see a thread for it, I like the art style though I don't think this trailer did enough for it.

Just hope it's as good a woolly world and not on the same level as Crafted World.

Agreed. Woolly World is GOAT. Crafted was okay but such a step down. Hope this one is great!

Art design is glorious and I'm sure it will be at least a decent platformer. My wife loves all these Yoshi games (even the less good ones) so I'm in by default, haha.

The art style is fantastic. I just hope there's at least a little challenge to the game as well. The last couple Yoshi games got boring for me pretty quickly.

It's cute and all, but I'm tired of all these 'artsy' themed Yoshi games. This is not the way to celebrate Mario's 40th anniversary. Give us a new 3D game.

Games like this are hugely important for Nintendo.

It part of why Switch is the 2nd best selling console of all time and kids aren't interested in PlayStation and Xbox anymore.

As for 3D Mario game, that studio just put out DK Bananza.

This. Also Woolly World can be really difficult, especially the special challenge levels. Like extremely challenging.
Really? I don't even remember any challenge levels back when I played this on… I wanna say 3DS?

Also, I just realized this game never got ported to the Switch. I wonder why? I'd love to replay it, the soundtrack is bangin'.

That's fine, but it's Mario's 40th birthday. Where is a proper 3D Mario game? It's been 8 years.

Damn, hoping for 3d but im still excited, outside of new yoshis island, just about every yoshi game has been an absolute hit for me.

It ain't a Nintendo console without some good ol' Yoshi shovelware.
Art direction is great, but the game itself looks rather boring, which you can be sure when coming right after Crafted World. Shame, as Woolly World was great.

The 3DS version I believe was made to be easier than the Wii U original. Switch got Crafted World so no need to port Woolly World I suppose.

They just made DKB, give them some time to work on the next 3D installment.

Probably the best-looking new game announcement of the Direct ... which isn't saying much. I like the fact that it looks like this will be more about experimenting with different creatures and objects to manipulate the environment than on super easy platforming. Seems like a smart way to keep it kid friendly while opening it up to a wider audience. Hope this captures some of the wild originality of SNES Yoshi's Island, which is still one of the greatest 2D platformers of all time.

Weird that we're getting a new game before a Woolly World port though.

I need to wait and see on this one, my enjoyment of Yoshi games has been bumpy.

I love the original Yoshi's Island and Wooly World, but did not like Story, DS, or Crafted. The art style on this one looks really nice if nothing else though.

Agreed. Crafted looked great in 2017 but then when it came out I was really disappointed. And my god the music was just so awful. A downgrade from Woolly World in every sense imaginable. I'd love to have Woolly World on Switch/ Switch 2. That's easy money, Nintendo. It would sell well.

The art style is bringing back the original Yoshi's Island look. Not the crazy 3D Yoshi that I've envisioned but it's definitely not a typical Yoshi game that's for sure.

This seems like a kid's game and almost more like an adventure/exploration game than a platformer. Also Switch 2 exclusive so they're trying to pull in families.

Yeah, i don't know about calling it a kids game yet (which is fine with me either way, a good game is a good game and youve just got to figure out if its worth the pricepoint} but it does seem from this trailer to be more of a puzzle-platformer.

No combat or seeming enemies in the clip, all action is shown as obstacle/solution, the few platforming challenges seem very A-to-B and preconfigured in timing (that Umbrella chasm looks fun but doesn't look like a speedrunner is going to find a better way through there.) Just simple, cute stuff to do to find surprises and continue your journey in what's shown so far.

I'd like to know more about it, maybe future clips will show it in a different light and feature more Yoshi's Island action elements, or maybe it really is this and then we'll just have to see if they found enough iterations on fun concepts to work for its target audience.

Looks cute. Seems like a fun entry point into platformer for children.

If it has baby music I am OUT.

You don't like the GOAT soundtrack?

The trailer sort of has baby music, but not remotely as bad as this

Day 1. Yoshi games are the best, especially when you have played a dark and broody survival horror game that made you shit your pants, and you're in desperate need to fill your heart with some bright colors and light platforming.

I played it. Yoshi's Island has top tier music too. Why they keep doing the music like that I don't know.

If it helps the rest of that game's music doesn't sound nearly that terrible. Not sure who thought that was a good idea.

Incredible artstyle. I'm not expecting hardcore gameplay, of course, but not everything has to be a tough challenge. This market needs something like this every once in a while, and Nintendo is sure to deliver better gameplay than equally lovely-looking stuff like Ni no Kuni which, sadly, plays awfully.

Nintendo still can't surpass Yoshi's Island on the friggin SNES

Bringing back the art style, but not the platforming, it seems. Or Kondo's tier 1 soundtrack, but that's to be expected...
