What, are you listening to?

Skimmed the new Deftones. Still forming an opinion, but damn I think the Quicksand bass player was doing a lot more heavy lifting on the last few albums than anyone realized.

These are growing on me. I definitely have to give it several more listens to fully digest it all.

I'll be seeing them next month, so hope they play as much new stuff as possible. Seen the rest countless times. Locked club is one that I bet is 20x better live.

when you write a scifi vaporwave cyberpunk song, but don't have the budget to build a cyberpunk motorcycle prop, so you make a funny video instead:

I fucking love Cud - I permed my locks in the late 80s. (or maybe 90) because I thought Carl was cool. I attempted to see them supporting the Pixies in 92 but turned up late, however I finally got to see them in Bristol earlier this year - amazing!

EDIT - I should say, not a perm, rather curlers I skanked from the mother :<

They were a band I would expect to hear in my local indie record shop alongside the manics.

I loved early manics - caked in makeup punk kids etc. Saw them a couple of times pre-the loss of Richie. Back in the days when everyone got on with each other :{ x EDIT: I sold merch for them back around 2018 - so good. I didn't really like their stuff beyond 92, however they were so tight/proper old pros : <

My opinion flipped on the new Deftones album. Pretty into it now, but a few tracks are still not clicking for me.

1 - Banger.
2 - Banger, best on the album. I consider this on par with some of their best tracks and you can tell it would be incredible live.
3 - Great track.
4 - Poppiest track on the album, but it's really good. Might like it more than Cherry Waves.
5 - Okay, but a little boring.
6 - Great track. Heavy use of vocal effects throughout which I'm into, and it's something new. Great drum parts.
7 - Okay, but a little boring.
8 - Great track. Drums reminiscent of Knife Party.
9 - Unusual track, but it's good. The vocals in particular took me a while to get used to, but I actually think it's phenomenal.
10 - Worst track on the album.
11 - Fantastic track. Possibly the best of their ballad style songs ever.
