Where Winds Meet |OT| Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

I'm like 100+ hours in this game and I just realized there are nonviolent options to clearing Outposts. In Solo Qinghe I was basically treating them like I was playing Assassin's Creed and silently taking guards one by one, and in Co-op we'd just rush in and get into a grand melee. But as I'm finally clearing out Kaifeng Outposts, I realized you can walk up to the front entrance and convince yourself to be let in and win the outpost in different ways like winning a game of Madaio Cards or Gift of Gab :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Yup, ever outpost has a pacifist way of clearing the rats out. It's pretty cool, since it also uses variety of side-activities, like chess, wrestling, building etc.

Well, if you use as a reference the video of an idiot, it's no wonder.

I just needed to scroll down a few videos of that channel to see a recognizable pattern.

This is about as far from a game that interests me anyway, so I think seeing it in its best light still wouldn't interest me.

Mobile version runs really well and looks great IMO - doesn't look a generation behind like the mobile version of Infinity Nikki. Runs at a perfect 60fps with maxed out settings (including TAA) on an S25 Ultra. The game sometimes warns me that my device is getting hot but tbh it gets hotter when I play NIKKE. Also, it supports DualSense via Bluetooth so it's been perfect for doing dailies.

Only thing I don't like about the mobile version is that the difficulty setting is the first thing you see when you open the Options menu, which makes me worried that I'll accidentally change it from Legend when opening the Options...

Edit: I forgot to mention that the latest update improved Mystic Skills for controllers. Don't have to swap between two skill wheels anymore, the second wheel is now bound to R2+dpad. Much better!

Still a daily player, looking forward to the new content later today.

Patch notes:

I'm trying this today. I've seen a few streamers play it and it does look interesting. I was pretty critical because of the MTX, but my main worry is always whether these games are actually fun and whether they'll get shut down after a short time

I'd like something like this to stick around in my rotation.

There's no reason to worry about the MTX unless you want to show off to other players with flashy outfits with glows/sparkles. The free costumes you get through playing are much better because they fit the setting of the game.

Started playing this last night and it is surprisingly decent.

Lots of little systems with combat and gameplay which is great, though it could use some streamlining. I love they have detailed skill descriptions (they actually have a short version and an advanced version, which is a great idea). Graphics are okay and it can definitely look pretty at times given the atmosphere. Love they have added a hide all UI toggle. The English voice acting and delivery could have used some more work, but it's not the worst either. The animations and lipsync also aren't that great in some scenes.

In terms of combat, I still have a lot to explore and see the entire system, but for basic combat, the hits feel a little weightless (with the nameless sword arts). But it's too early and I'm yet to try other weapons like the great sword, etc., so let's see. I chose the Umbrella at the start for the Oddity bonus and it's nice having ranged options. One thing I noticed is that enemies scale and level with you (?), which isn't ideal.

Anyway, enjoying myself at the moment.

Edit: Completed the first story arc (with Yi Dao and that Witch), but dropped the game after that. Got to level 41. Breaking through to higher level tiers doesn't feel great as things get harder. Enemy scaling also means you don't get any satisfaction from levels ups or getting stronger. Between the mess that are the menus and constant feeling of work rather than fun, it was time to drop it.
